“So when will you be sending my money? I have to buy a few things for the house. I thought that you could pick them up when you came but since you are not coming, I need them,” her mother spat, with even more irritation in her voice. “Mom, I will know more tomorrow. I promise to send something before the week is out. I don’t have much right now, but I will send you enough to get anything that you need. Just trust me. Have I ever let you down,” Sugah asked with sadness in her voice.

“Yeah whatever, you better not start now! I need my stuff. Anyway, let me know when you plan on sending my money. I have people waiting for me. I will talk with you later. And Sugah, don’t forget how much I went without so that you could do this and that. I wouldn’t be in this mess if it weren’t for you. I gave my life away for you girl, so you owe me.”

Sugah felt like crap. Her own mother was making her feel like a burden. She couldn’t believe her ears. Her mother had never spoken to her that way. What was happening to their family? They were all they had. Sugah didn’t know what she would do without her mother, but somehow my mother obviously didn’t feel the same way. Mothers were not supposed to make their children feel
like that. “Yes M
om
ma,” was all Sugah
got a chance to say because before she could say anything else, her mother disconnected the line.

That night Sugah began writing again. She poured herself into her poetry. She lost herself in her words, creating pieces she was so proud of and decided to share with the world someday. When she
looked up again, it was well after midnight and she had written more than a dozen poems and thoughts. “Wow! Time flies when you’re having fun. I better turn in. Tomorrow is make-it or brake-it day.” Sugah looked around her tiny apartment. For the first time she didn’t see it as dingy, small or beneath her. For the first time, Sugah felt she was home. She knew in that moment that she would never live with her mother or anyone else again. That night, the eighteen year old girl she woke up being that morning died. Sugah became a woman. She knew that she had to take care of herself because no one else was going to do it. She was on her own.
She missed her father now more than ever. Before he died he was always there for her, protecting and loving her. Giving her the security a girl needed from her father. Even though she was five at the time, she remembered those times like they happened only yesterday. God she missed her dad.

The next day Sugah dressed to impress. She dressed the way the three girls had when she first met them at the mall. She didn’t know who or what she would encounter
,
and her mother taught her to always be prepared. Sugah dressed like she had a million bucks when in reality, she only had about eighty dollars to her name. When she walked into the beautiful building she was instructed to go to, Sugah was in awe. Everything was clean, professional, and state of the art. The receptionist greeted her with poise, elegance and a smile, a welcomed greeting indeed. There was no waiting area because when she called, she was advised to be on time. No one was kept waiting, or would be waited for, the voice on the phone told her.

The only colors in the buildi
ng were white. There were floor-to-
ceiling windows letting in natural l
ight. The entire area gave life…

positivity. The floors were white marble, polished to perfection. Sugah could see her reflection in them. A naughty image entered her mind. She quickly brushed those thoughts away, recomposing herself.
Why was she suddenly thinking of “him”? And w
hy was she thinking such thoughts anyway? Was it the building and the sexiness it gave off? Sugah didn’t know nor did she care, she was just happy to be feeling something other than sadness. She continued her assessment of the gorgeous building. The only color was the reception desk, which was circular, finished in a dark and rich mahogany wood.

When the nice woman at the desk told her to go up to the fifteenth floor, Sugah thanked the woman and turned in the direction of the all-white elevators. As she stepped in and the doors were about to close, a hand stopped them. The hand belonged to a gorgeous man, with big feet, Sugah noticed unable to look at him in the eyes.
It was “him”. How could that be, Sugah thought trying to control her lustful thoughts.
His cologne teased her nostrils, overheating her sexual appetite. Sugah wanted to get as far away from

him

as possible because she didn’t trust herself around him. During her late teenage years, she was introduced to sex by an older guy, and she gravitated toward it. She felt energized, alive, desired and in control when she took part in the act. When he betrayed her for another hot, young thang, as he called her, Sugah promised to leave those feelings hidden until she found her soul mate.

His shoes were polished, his suit tailor-made, expensive and a nice gentle color, which made him look important, well put together. The baby blue silk tie and matching handkerchief went perfect with the khaki linen. A
s her eyes scanned his body, Sugah
felt her nature rise. Damn, she sighed to herself. He
wa
s sexy as hell. Her eyes moved up to his face. He had a caramel complexion, with a nice mustache and goatee. His eyes were light brown, slanted slightly, but full of life. He had the perfect nose and even nicer ears. But Sugah stopped when she saw his lips. They draw her in, captivating her. She couldn’t take her eyes away from them. Suddenly
,
she wanted to kiss them and feel them all over her. Sugah shook her thoughts away. She went up to his head. It was one of the best heads she had ever seen. His low fade accented sandy brown hair, which housed natural waves and tiny curls. He looked like he had just stepped away from a photo shot for GQ magazine. He smiled and her panties got soaked. Sugah smiled, knowing at that moment she was in the right place. The decision to finally call the number on the busi
ness card she received months
ago was about to change her life, and from the looks of her current
surrou
ndings, a change for the better; one that was looking brighter and brighter. Sugah tried to keep her composure but she was betrayed by her left leg. When she was nervous or anxious, her left leg bounced up and down like a twitch of some kind. “Are you okay?” Sugah nearly passed out at the sound of his voice. She was too embarrassed to look or say anything back. She simply nodded her head up and down. She heard a light chuckle, knowing that the guy knew he had her nervous in such closed quarters, but in fact, she was doing the same thing to him. Her beauty was mesmerizing. He wanted to reach out and touch her flowing curls to see if they felt as soft as they looked. The woman before him was slowly taking his breath away.
Her innocence radiated throughout the space almost leaving him spellbound. Yes, she was something special he acknowledged trying not to focus on her ass
, which was kissed by Heaven with perfection.

Sugah felt his eyes on her, taking all of her in. She knew he was checking her out, and she couldn’t blame him. She had it like that, and the attire she wore was something to take in. She smiled and felt a bit relaxed. Her heart fluttered feeling a genuine connection with the stranger standing only a few inches away from her. Again, she needed to get away from him before she attacked him. Her pussy was doing things she was ashamed to admit, but welcomed knowing that she was still a woman. A beautiful man did have that effect of most women, and he was well above his gender. Her nervousness calmed just as the elevator stopped.

Chapter 3

When Sugah got off the elevator on the fifteenth floor, she entered another reception area, only this time the room was all red. Red walls, red carpet, red décor and a waiting area, which had three red chairs. Sugah looked around and surprisingly, she liked it. Although red wasn’t really her color of choice, it worked. It gave off a sensual vibe to the space. Suddenly, Sugah wondered what she was about to encounter. What was she about to get herself into? Wa
s
it something legal
or would she end up with a mug-
shot? “Ma
y
I help you,” the woman at the reception area asked in a pleasant voice, bringing Sugah’s wondering mind back to reality. She too
,
was delightful just as the one downstairs, Sugah gathered. “Ah….yes….I was instructed to come up here for an appointment I have today. I don’t really know who I’m supposed to speak with, so can you please let whomever know that I am here please,” she said to the woman. “Sure. No problem. You may have a seat if you like, but it shouldn’t be long. No one is kept waiting.”
Before Sugah was able to walk away, the woman called out to her. “Miss, what is your name, please?” A slow smile spread across her face before she spoke, “My name is Sugah, Sugah Payne.”

The woman smiled her approval and
Sugah smiled
back
. She walked over to one of the three chairs and sat down. She wondered what happened to the man who was on the elevator with her. She didn’t s
ee
him get off after her, so she assumed he went to another floor. Her underwear was still wet from just being in his presence. The thought of that sent a chill down
Sugah’s
spine. It made her light-headed and tingles pulsated through her hidden treasure. Was she horny? It had been a while since her last
sexual encounter
with a man. In fact, Sugah couldn’t even recall the last time. As her mind wondered trying to remember, she heard her name. When she looked up, she saw the girl from the mall who had given her the business card.
The one she was rude to at the library.
There was a sly grin on her face, which Sugah immediately found annoying. It dawned on her that they had never formally introduced themselves.
But the woman seemed to know her. Red flags immediately went up.
“I know what you’re thinking. Just come with me. I will explain everything in private.”

Sugah followed the well-dressed woman, admiring her shoes. Damn, those are some bad ass shoes, Sugah acknowledge in her head. When they entered the huge corner office, she was even more impressed. An incredible view of the city was the focal point because floor to ceiling

charm, proving that

inside the room. A massive desk
sat to the left of the room, while a contemporary sofa and two matching chairs, coffee table and nice rug, sat to the right. A

and several huge planters were placed throughout the space

more depth. The one wall in the space was painted in black. The furniture was also black. Red
and white were accent colors
. There were beautiful paintings, sculptures, more rugs, and other immaculate décor creating elegance, character and overall ambiance to the space. Everything in the room was well balanced, complementing to each other.

There were other people standing in the space, in front of the window admiring the view of the city. Evening was approaching and the beautiful horizon looked amazing. Sugah loved watching sunsets and she knew that the one soon approaching would be the best she had seen to date. The young woman quickly ordered her a drink. “Get the lady a vodka and cranberry,
with a hint of lime,
please,” she
told the barkeep. Sugah declined.
She was underage and didn’t drink during business. Years of dating older guys did have its advantages, she concluded. Sugah was no amateur in the drinking department but she did drink in moderation.
She
also
didn’t want to make any bad impressions. She was also caught off guard by the woman’s knowledge of her favorite drink. Maybe that was just coincidence, Sugar told herself. She remembered her mother’s words, “first impressions are lasting impressions”.
The woman was impressed. This was one of their tests when recruiting new members. If they were too quick to drink, then that would mean incompetence in the future. She gave Sugah a quick nod and smile, assuring her that she had the right decision.

The woman then quickly got e
veryone else’s attention. They
turned and were pleasantly surprised when they saw Sugah, according to the looks and smiles she received from each of them
. Well, all but one
. There were two women and three men. Sugah recognized the two women immediately. They were the same two who were with the other one, the day at the mall. They smiled at her, scanning her from head to toe.
One gave her killer looks and Sugah wondered what her problem with her was. Before engaging into a stare-off battle with her near acquaintant, Sugah turned her attention back to the woman making the introductions.
Sugah was glad she had decided to dress her best. Her discounts for working at the mall were finally paying off. She did look good, she admitted, seeing her reflection from the mirror behind the bar. Her Donna Karan black, fitted cocktail dress hugged her hips, giving her ass the perfect introduction. The matching stilettos
,
accentuated her perfectly toned legs, making her look like a dancer. Her hair flowed past her shoulders in tiny ringlets and her lightly applied makeup was flawless.
Her caramel colored complexion looked radiant, well taken care of.
She looked like a movie star
walking the red carpet
