“No harm did
,
Mark. Thanks for calling. Sounds good, I’ll see you then. Goodnight.”
Sugah was happy to hear those words come from Mark’s lips. She didn’t want to mislead him, or give out the wrong impression where there relationship was concerned, so she was relieved to hear him say the same things she was thinking. Maybe, just maybe they could become really great friends. She suddenly thought about his involvement with Simone and Mya. What was the true extent of their relationship? Sugah
also
thought about Cappuccino. There was definitely something up with him too. She remembered the way he and Mya looked talking after the show. They were pissed about something or someone
,
and Sugah had a strange feeling that she was that person. It was time to do a little bit of snooping, she thought.
Sugah got into the steaming shower, lathering her entire body with her lavender body scrub. She let the water create a spa-like sensation before rinsing it off. When she stepped out of the shower her body felt like silk and glowed like the sun. She gently patted her skin and then applied Shea butter all over, before wrapping herself in a towel.
After brushing her teeth, giving herself a mini facial, Sugah pulled on one of her oversized t-shirts and climbed into bed. Before
Sugah was able to pull up the covers, the phone rang again.
“
Damn,
”
she said. Tonight was a hot line.
She quickly picked up the phone but b
efore she could say a word, she smiled. The person on the other end was already talking, and loudly. “Yo, what’s good Sis? I know you not in the bed. I wanted to
catch up with cha before you got home but looks like I’m too late. What you doing,” Espresso said.
Sugah laughed. “Sorry, but I just slipped under the covers. I am exhausted, maybe some other time.”
“Oh, c’mon Sugah, don’t leave ya boy hanging. The night is still young. We should be out celebrating. You knocked em dead today and shit. Dem ma’fuckas gon be all up ya ass from now on. You may as well get used to that shit, Sis. Damn, I didn’t know you had it like that! And dem joints you were rocking! All I can say is, beautiful! Hey, you think you can hook a brotha up with that fine ass Keke Chanel?”
Sugah was cracking up. Espresso was a riot. She needed the laugh.
She could also tell that he had been drinking. He always talked hood whenever he had a few drinks. He became playful, which she loved about him.
“So, you are too much. I don’t know her like that, besides, you have too many women. Why don’t you chill with one of them tonight? I’m sure any one you call will be ecstatic to be in your company
, and in your bed
. I am too tired to move right now. My entire body aches from walking in those six inch heels. I think I may start walking on the treadmill in them as a part of my exercise program.
That should keep my ass tight and legs toned, huh.
”
“Damn
, that shit sounds sexy as fuck
. Can I watch?” Espresso’s laughter was contagious. Sugah couldn’t help but burst into laughter. She loved having him in her life. Just when she was about to break down and call Coffee, Espresso stepped right in and took her mind off
of him
.
Thoughts popped into her head, but she refused to let them cloud her mind. Coffee was the one she wanted, needed and desired. Espresso was like the brother she always wanted. Nothing more and she planned to keep it that way.
“Yo, Moms is the bomb
yo
. She is fine as hell too. I see where you get your shit from. And ole boy, Mr. Blakemore is pussy whipped, if I ever saw it. He cooler than a fan though. I cannot wait to break bread with em tomorrow. Hey, what time we leaving for church in da
a.m.
and whatnot
? Moms invited me to come with, and I just wanna be on time.
”
“I didn’t know you were joining us
for church
. That sounds great. Be ready for
eight
. You can meet me here if you like and we can just ride together.”
“Aight, bet!
Okay Sis, I’ll let you get
to sleep and shit. See ya in the
late. I’m out.
”
“Okay, So, you don’t do anything tonight that I wouldn’t do, okay.
And don’t drink anything else. I can tell you have had more than you should. Goodnight!
”
“Shid, we both know that gives me room for everything and then some, hell. You don’t fool me, gurl! I know ya ass a true freak. I spotted that shit the first day we met. My boy Coff is in for a real treat. Plus, ya’ll asses ain’t fooling nobody either. I know the deal. Anyway, take ya ass to sleep. You need all the beauty sleep you can get.” His laughter filled the line again.
“Peaches,” he said.
“
Plum”, Sugah replied. “Later Bum”, they said together like always become parting ways or ending a phone. “
I love you
,
Dude. Goodnight,” Sugah said in between her laughter. They hung up the phone still laughing. That night Sugah slept like a rock. Her thoughts didn’t go back to Coffee or Mark, or Simone and Mya. She slept peacefully…a much needed slumber.
Chapter 25
Mark watched Simone and Mya as they made their way up the pathway to the pool house. He lived just behind his father’s house, with all the privacy he could have. No one bothered him, and whenever his father wanted to see him, he always sent one of the
servants
to fetch him. Mark felt alone. He didn’t have a mother
,
and his father was too busy being a horrible person to even see him. There was no time to feel sorry for
himself, if he wanted to gain the
love and respect of his
father;
he had to go along with the two evil
bitches walking towards him
. Although
Mark
loved Simone, he despised her evil ass twin sister. Mya didn’t care about anyone but herself. Anyone who got in her way would feel her wrath and think twice before doing it again. He knew fi
rsthand how vindictive she was but was sworn to secrecy
,
or should it be called blackmailed
,
into keeping his mouth shut.
Mark put on his game face. But before he could greet Simone and Mya, he saw someone else walk
ing
up the path in their direction. Who was this clown, Mark wondered giving both girls questioning looks. Mya only laughed while Simone tried apologizing with her eyes.
Her plan was working. Mark didn’t remember. What a dumb fuck, Simone thought stepping
in front of
him.
“Mya, Simone. So glad you could join me this evening. Hmm, wh
at
time did we say to be here,” Mark asked in a sarcastic tone
, pointing to his wrist watch
.
He hated anyone who didn’t respect time because time was the only thing one couldn’t get back. Wasting time wasn’t an option for him and he didn’t tolerate it from anyone, not even the woman he loved.
“Look Dude, calm the hell down. I tried to get ou
tta the after-
party immediately following the fashion show and you know it!
How would it look if I didn’t show up? People would be offended, and we cannot have that, now can we, d
on’t act like a pussy! Geesh, we are here now. Come on, I have to pee. Simone, make the introductions,” Mya said before walking into the house and toward the restroom.
Simone wondered how Mya knew where Mark’s bathroom was located considering this was supposed to be their first time going to his house. Maybe it was nothing, she told herself but the hairs on her arms that stood up, spoke volumes. Something was definitely up. She looked at her sister and her lover trying to see if there was any indication that something else was going on between them, but didn’t see anything.
As
Mya
passed Mark, she looked him up and down, giving h
im a look that said “you make my
ass itch,
pussy”. She didn’t like soft, weak ass
men, never have and never would.
But in their eyes, there was only lust, a craving for each other. They had to play it safe though because if Simone found out their secret, she would never forgive them.
Mya suddenly thought about Dex. He was nothing but all man. The things he did to her still made her pussy jump, wet and hot. If only she could get him to understand her actions. He would forgive her and they would be together again. All her life she was abused, picked on or treated like shit. When she finally began standing up for herself, she felt good. People didn’t mess with her anymore. It only took that one time to let anyone know that she and her sister were off limits. The bastard she had to make an example of was long gone from their lives, resting at the bottom of
a
well.
Her mind took a trip down memory lane, one she tried so hard to forget about but wouldn’t allow her to.
Bo was always around after their father ran out on them for another woman around town. Their mother cried all the time
,
and she and Simone realized that whenever Bo was there, their mother didn’t cry at all. They loved to see her smile. She was fun, exciting and lived again. Mya would help cook dinner and Simone would sing for them. Bo seemed cool at first but that changed when he moved in with them. He worked and made sure all their needs were met, but that was it. If they asked for anything else, he always chimed in. Their mother always took his side and did anything he said or wanted. When Bo was there, she was like a robot. Mya didn’t know what happened to their mother until she came home one day and saw her in front of five white lines, which looked like powder, on their coffee table in
the living room. Her mother had a rolled up dollar bill in her hand. Before Mya could say anything she witnessed her mother making two of those lines disappear, while Bo
watched.
“Mama,” Mya recalled
saying, trying to get her mother’s attention. She didn’t respond. She simply leaned back into the pillows on the sofa, closing her eyes. Simone had to stay after school that day for her track practice
,
so she wasn’t there. Mya didn’t plan on ever telling her about what she saw. Simone adored their mother and she could do no wrong in her eyes. Mya didn’t want to taint that image of their mother for her sister so she kept what she saw to herself. N
o one
knew to this day and Mya planned on keeping it that way. No one has to know, she always told herself.
That same
day Mya
prepared dinner as
t
he
i
r mother slept in her bedroom so that Simone could have something to eat when she made it in from track practice; Mya always took care of her sister. Although they were twins, she felt responsible for her since she was five minutes older. Simone was fragile, gentle, kind, compassionate, and Mya was the total opposite when she needed to be. No one messed with the Baker girls, as most people in their neighborhood referred to th
em, until Bo came to town
.
Bo didn’t try anything that night but Mya still replayed his words in her ear as she flipped the frying chicken in the grease. “Your mama is just sick. I give her this here stuff to help her relax. It’s nothing. I better not catch you messing with this stuff or you will be sorry. Besides, I think I’ll be hanging around for a while. I think me and your sister will become real good friends.” Mya hated him in that moment. She wished then that she had picked up the skillet, chicken frying and all and threw it in Bo’s face, but she didn’t.
He was only trying to scare her
, she thought
.
