Although she was red faced, it only seemed to expand Dorrian's smile.

“Night, Travine. Remember, no discussing this in the house. I don't want the girls getting the wrong idea.”

Oh, I cannot guarantee it won't get around, Smoochies, but I will try and keep a lid on it.”

Just go, you have embarrassed me enough,” Vylette groaned.

Uh! Oh, Vy, my heart...It hurts...”

She slapped at T
ravine when she motioned in mock horror of a knife in chest.

Okay, okay, I’m going. I’ll bring breakfast, we can talk before your first class.”

Rolling her eyes,
she murmured, “Whatever. I'll see you in the morning.”

Vylette slightly pushed her friend out
the door, to ensure she went before she changed her mind. When Travine was out of the room, she leaned against the closed door and looked at Dorrian, who was still wearing that devilish grin she had fallen in love with. She opened her mouth to say something and found herself pinned against the frame of the wood, Dorrian firm against her, his tongue dancing with hers.

Rejoicing bells rang in her ears, pounding bass seemed to beat in her chest and her limbs were turning to jelly. She wasn't sure what would
happen first, fainting from lack of air or completely embarrassing herself by dropping to floor when her legs gave out. Her money was on the legs, so she slightly pushed him away before the latter came true.

Wait, I need to catch my breath.”

Wow. Me too.”

Her hand in his, they walked and sat on the bed.

“Is everything okay? You rushed out pretty quick.”

It will be, we finally got the break we were needing. Which is actually why I came by. I need to go out of town for a few weeks.”

Oh, where is the mission?”

I'm not sure yet, our target is on the move, but we should know by morning.”

Well I hope you get him. Is he a trafficker like Falken?”

Yes, and he is much worse.”

Then shoot him once for me.”

As for you, I have better plans…”

She giggled when h
e grabbed her and laid her down. “Really?” Playfully she held him at bay and mocked him. “Like what? I can't imagine what you are talking about.”

He pushed her arms above her head, and she let
him, as he pressed her into the mattress, teasing her with soft kisses along her neck and collar bone. Her legs wound around him, urging him closer, tighter against her.

She softly whispered,
“Oh, I see, picking up where we left off.”

Not entirely,” he said. “Earlier there was less clothing...I am alright with skipping ahead to that part.”

She laughed and rolled him off of her and snuggled up next to him.
“So, perhaps we should take it a bit slower. We barely know each other.”

Agreed. How about I stay the night with you...Hold on, don't give me that look. I can stay and we can sit up and talk.”

Okay, I’m game.”

That was easy.” He sounded surprised.

Tapping his chest, she crawled to the top of the bed, pulled back the covers and waited for him to join her. “
Sometimes, it's just that easy.”

When he dropped his slacks
and climbed in next to her, she got comfy and pulled the blankets over them. Lying on her side, she tucked her pillow under her head and waited.

So, now what?”

Well, before you get too comfortable, Vylette, I have a confession to make.”

That sounds serious.”

It's not really...well, it might be to you...I mean it was to me...”

How about you just spit it out before you choke?”

Fine. I watched you today...at field training. Remember, you can see the training field from the upper command center.”

Weird. Why?”

Because I was curious about how you would do.”

And...” She found herself under him once more, with his breath on her face and her heart hammering in her chest.

I was very impressed to say the least. It was amazing to watch. You did so well, better than anyone expected.”

She rolled him o
nto his back. “What do mean better than anyone expected?” She narrowed her eyes. “You weren't the only watching, were you?”

Her will started to fade
when he slipped his hands underneath the seam of her shirt, just above her hips as she spoke.

Look, please don't be mad. Your Uncle was very concerned and curious about how well you would do. So, we stood at the window and watched.”

What did my uncle say?”

That you were wonderful. He was very impressed...and proud. You should have seen the smile on his face.”

So, it wasn't watching like some creepy kind of thing?”

No. Quite the opposite. Now, I will admit, I like watching you for more than just one reason.”

Is that so?”

Oh yes, you look amazing in Army camo.”

Like that, did ya?”

Very much so.”

His wandering hands and lustful look broke the vow to take it slow and that idea went right out the window and she no longer cared the moment he kissed her.

Chapter 19

Warm and cozy, cuddled up and stuck to Dorrian, Vylette jumped when she heard a clipped scream. In her haze, it took her a moment to realize she wasn't dreaming. She finally looked up when the warm firm body moved next to her. In the middle of her room, with hands covering her face, stood Mrs. Travine, surprised, whose sputtering and broke the dreamy silence.

Uh...oh, I am so sorry. I...You said...I mean, we agreed to have breakfast before your class! I swear...Okay, I am going to go.”

She opened her mouth to calm her friend
, but she was gone before she could say a word.

Dorrian's voice, full of sleepiness, still made her smile.
“Well, that was just awkward. I mean I am her boss.”

Damn, means I have a lot of explaining to do.”

I suppose I should have gone back to my own room or set and alarm so I wouldn't be here when she showed up...But I was pretty exhausted after our little workouts.”

The heat from either the memory or what was left of her innocence had her cheeks burning.

“Yeah, I completely forgot we made plans for breakfast.”

What time is it?”

Vyle
tte looked over at the clock. “It's six thirty a.m.”

The look on his face insinuated he had a plan
, but it was the wicked smile that let her know it was a naughty one. “We have time for a shower.”

She put her hand on
her chin and looked at the ceiling as if she were pondering something. “Well, after last night...” she flashed him a wicked smile of her own, “I could definitely use a shower.”

Race you!” he said.

She jumped f
rom the bed, knocking him to the ground and scrambled quickly toward the bathroom door, but he was hot on her heels. She made it just inside the door before he scooped her up, setting her on the counter, lacing her chest with more teasing kisses.

Dorrian, we need to shower.”

You're right...in the shower is better.”

Not what I meant.”

She hopped off the counter and walked to the shower, turning on the hot water. Looking back she spotted Dorrian leaning against the counter in his underwear, looking all hot and bothered.
Mmm, so nice.
Shaking her head, she tried to dislodge the naughty thoughts filling her mind.
Focus! You have class and he has to leave...
Her gaze traveled back to his face and she felt sad.
He has to leave.

The water flowed
over her hand at the temperature she wanted, and steam filled the room. She eyed him once more before making her final decision.
Screw it! I will just be late for class.

Quickly crossing the room she grabbed a handful of his underwear by the seam, pulled him close and kissed him. Her fingers slid through his hair and down his neck. His moan sent her o
ver the edge and she bit his lip, teasingly before pulling away.

I have changed my mind. Drop your pants and join me.”

I thought you would never ask.”

She turned, flung off her underclothes and stepped into the shower, water splashing across her skin, a
dding to the fire within. An inferno hotter than any droplet of fire falling from the faucet encircled her, when Dorrian grabbed her and pressed her into the shower wall, wasting no time.

“I know this sounds a bit crazy, but I am going to miss you while I am gone,” came from the other room while she quickly ran a brush through her hair. She smiled at the thought.

Man, this is so crazy.

She yelled back, “I know, me too.” Setting the brush on the counter, she walked back into the bedroom and into the warmth that was Dorrian Buchanan. She found she was falling for him faster than she would have imagined possible. “It is crazy. I have never felt this way about anyway, let alone this quickly. I mean I have only known you for what? A week?”

The soft br
eath on her neck from his voice, tickled her skin, raising her need to take him. “I feel the same way. I swear I am better at keeping myself under control. There is just something about you, but have no fear, Vylette, I will figure it out. All I know for now, is that just the sight of you drives me crazy and I can barely keep my mind off you.”

She pulled away and finished getting ready, grabbing her shoes and pushing her books across the bed when she sat down.
“I know.” She looked at him, and asked, “How long will you be gone?”

I don't know exactly, but we are projecting a few weeks, at least. That all depends on where the contact went and how fast we can set up and buy him out of women.”

The room stayed quiet for a moment. A
lthough nothing in the space had literally changed, the mood had dramatically. In the span of a second, worry and uncertainty weighed upon them. Vylette stopped what she was doing and just stared at the man who had stolen her heart so completely.

This is nuts. I barely know him and my h
eart is in my throat at the thought that something could go wrong and he might not make it back. This job is lethal. Shake it off, Vylette.

She got
up from the bed and gave him a quick kiss.

Well, I have a feeling this is heading in a mushy direction and I am just not girly enough to get caught up in it, besides you have a plane to catch and I have a class to get to. So, walk me down and I shall see you when you get back.”

Okay. But I want a better goodbye kiss than that, since I can’t kiss you down stairs.”

Oh...”

She never finished her sentence due to the fact his tongue was doing the tango just beyond her lips, setting her on fire and making her weak in the knees. When the dance was finally done and she had her space back, she damn near fainted. Like
always, her heart beat like the wings of hummingbird, shallowing and quickening her breath accompanied by a heat wave that crashed over with the weight of oncoming truck. It was glorious and she was quickly getting addicted.

His laugh was just as deadly s
eductive as the rest of him.

I swear, Vylette, I could kiss you like that forever. Not only do I like it, but I love the look on your face when I pull away. That lusty glazed look...damn, makes me want to throw you down and rip off your clothes every time. I have never had woman look at me that way before...so full of desire...”

Fanning her face,
she smiled. “Well, I have to say, I have never had any man kiss me like that. It’s...over powering to say the least. As for you kissing me that way forever, feel free.”

It took a moment before she recovered and was back to normal. Stepping away, she straightened her clothes and her hair.

“We need to go or we are not going to make it out of here, and there are people counting on you and they don't even know it.”

True. Let's go.”

She grabbed her books and headed for the door, Dorrian at her side.
