“You feel incredible,” Trevor praised, and my demon magic
flared, muted some by the anklet.

I tried to focus on reining in my power. Trevor was so
in-tune with me, that he noticed my distraction immediately.

“Don’t fight it,” he said on a moan, his movements slowing,
even though I knew he didn’t want to slow down. “I fucking love the way your
power feels on my skin. It’s like you’re touching me everywhere. Let me feel
it.”

I hesitated, not wanting to risk hurting Trevor, but knowing
it was unlikely with the wards on my anklet. Besides, my power only reacted
violently when my emotions were involved, and I could keep those in check.
Relaxing, I let my power flow along Trevor’s skin, enjoying the way he
shuddered under its dark caress.

“Fucking perfect,” Trevor groaned, rolling his hips against
me to grind against my sensitive clit.

His muscles were tense under my hands, and I sensed he was
holding back, trying to draw out our pleasure. Lifting my hips to press even
closer to him, I whimpered, “I’m so close.”

Trevor’s only response was a groan as he continued to move
against my body, rolling his hips and pressing into me. My hands clawed at his
ass, and I screamed with my second release. When my spasms eased, Trevor
reached under my ass to lift my hips off the bed slightly before slamming into my
body. His thrusts were hard, fast, and he was utterly relentless. My body was
still pulsing from my orgasm, and Trevor’s thrusts made those last pulses even
more intense. When I felt him swell inside of me, I screamed from the sheer
pleasure of it.

Trevor’s loud shout of completion was drowned out by my
screams, as he found his own release in my body.

We collapsed onto the bed, both obviously feeling boneless.
Trevor removed the condom and tied it off before tossing it in the bedside
trash. “I could get addicted to having you here,” he murmured, rolling to his
side and leaning over me to brush his lips against mine.

I was beginning to believe in miracles when I managed to
avoid saying anything to ruin the moment, and Trevor must have felt the same
because he laughed, a sound of pure joy.

“I’d love to keep you in bed all night, but I think I’d
better feed you some dinner,” he said, climbing out of bed and giving me a
great view of his ass.

“You shopped, and you’re going to cook?” I feigned shock.

Trevor gave me a sexy grin and winked at me over his
shoulder. “And I fucked you senseless. It’s all part of my plan to make you
fall in love with me.”

I shook my head, waving off his ridiculous comment, only I
wasn’t sure it was so ridiculous. It would be easy to fall for a warlock like
Trevor. If I was honest, I’d been falling for him since our first awkward
meeting.

Chapter Thirty
Trevor

I’ve always been a man with a healthy sexual appetite, but
what I felt around Melina was insane. I wanted to touch her, taste her, and
fuck her constantly. I almost felt like she was an addiction I craved more each
time I had her. It wasn’t even just the sex, although the sex was beyond
amazing. I liked Melina, enjoyed her biting sense of humor and her focus on her
job. Tonight, she’d taken the night off, and even if she hadn’t said it, I knew
she was doing it to spend time with me, something I was definitely looking
forward to. I’d been tempted to offer to take her out, but I’m a selfish
bastard, and I wanted to spend a quiet evening alone with her. I should say a
quiet evening with her and Mr. Whiskers.

I couldn’t help but grin as I watched her eat chicken soft
tacos, the meal I was proud of having made with only a little help from Melina.
Several months ago, Melina had told me she didn’t like eating out. I’d asked my
mom to teach me to cook a few things, and I’d watched some cooking shows. The
cooking shows had been too much for me, but I had recently found that I could
find a recipe for just about anything online.

Mr. Whiskers was happily eating cat food. I was still having
trouble believing Melina fed her condor cat food, but apparently, being a
familiar with the soul of a cat made him act a lot more like a cat than a
condor. Melina had also explained that the cat food she bought smelled bad
enough to satisfy Mr. Whiskers’ desire for rotting animal flesh.

“No, Trevor is not going to take you for a walk tonight,”
Melina told Mr. Whiskers, and then let out an exaggerated sigh. “I know you
missed him, but it’s late. Maybe we can all watch a movie together. He might
even be willing to play with you, but it’s too late for a walk.”

I’d grown quite fond of Mr. Whiskers, which was a good thing
since he and Melina were a package deal. When I’d first seen him, I’d had some
serious doubts about pursuing Melina. Mr. Whiskers did not make a good first
impression. That was through no fault of his own. The fact was, condors looked
a little intimidating. He probably weighed twenty-five pounds, and his body was
covered with black feathers, except his nearly featherless, pinkish head. While
not the most attractive of birds, Mr. Whiskers had taken an instant liking to
me, and I’d appreciated the ally. How did I know he liked me? He followed me
around and settled onto my lap when I sat. Sometimes, he’d rub his head against
me, much like a cat would.

“I don’t need to be at the office until noon tomorrow, so
I’ll take you for a walk before I leave,” I assured him.

That obviously met with his approval because he began
dancing in a circle with his wings out as far as he could manage without
bumping the stools at the breakfast bar. With probably ten feet of wingspan,
that wasn’t much.

Melina shook her head. “Now you’ve done it.”

“Done what?” I asked.

“He’s going to expect you to walk him every morning before
you go to work from now on,” she told me.

“I probably will,” I admitted. “Before you accuse me of
using your familiar to get on your good side, I genuinely like Mr. Whiskers. I
missed him when you weren’t talking to me. You might not believe this, but I
took him home with me last night mostly because I wanted to spend time with
him.”

Melina looked touched, and I would have said something more
if it weren’t for the fact that I now had a condor trying, unsuccessfully, to
climb onto my lap while I sat at the breakfast bar. Apparently, he was touched
by what I’d said, too.

“Let him finish eating first,” Melina scolded her familiar,
and I could tell he was arguing with her by the way he kept flapping his wings
and gesturing to me with his head.

“Behave, or you won’t get a treat,” she warned, and the
condor eyed her as he considered her threat, probably trying to decide if she
was serious. Obviously, he decided she’d follow through with her threat to deny
him a treat because he returned to his food, looking as sullen as a condor
could manage. Whatever he was saying made Melina laugh, and she explained when
she saw my raised eyebrow. “He thinks you’re going to be mad at me for not
letting him sit on your lap.”

I fought back a laugh. “He is something else. Does he ever try
to fly?” I knew he didn’t fly, even though his wings weren’t clipped, and I’d
always wondered if he ever tried, or even wanted to try.

She shook her head. “He can’t fly. Actually, I guess it
would be more accurate to say, he can’t remember how to fly. When he first came
to me, he could, but the more merged the condor and cat’s souls became, the
more he acted like a cat. Now, he’s convinced flying is impossible, which is a
very good thing. It’s hard enough keeping him hidden when I’m around humans.
Can you imagine what it would be like if people saw him flying? Condors are
endangered, and there aren’t supposed to be any around here. Eventually,
someone would try to trap him and move him, which would be a huge mess.”

“Good point,” I conceded. “Are you done eating?”

She nodded, so I cleared our plates and set them in the
dishwasher before remembering I had something for Melina. “I almost forgot. I
have a present for you.”

“You didn’t need to buy me anything,” she insisted, looking
almost annoyed at the prospect of me buying her a gift. I made a mental note to
remember Melina didn’t like impromptu presents.

“I didn’t buy it,” I explained, going over to the table
where I’d dropped my laptop bag and the bag Fluffy had given me. I fought back
my grin as I handed her the bag. “These are from a client, and he insisted I
give them to a lady friend.”

Melina peered into the bag before regarding me with raised
eyebrows. “Bunny slippers? Pink bunny slippers, of all things. Do I look like
the bunny slipper type, let alone the pink bunny slipper type?”

One corner of my mouth kicked up as I tried to avoid
laughing. “I think you’ll like these.”

“These aren’t normal bunny slippers, are they?” she asked,
sounding intrigued.

“Try them on,” I coaxed. “They’re like no slippers you’ve
ever owned.”

She got off the stool and set the slippers on the floor.
Already barefoot, she started to slide her left foot into the slipper when it
let out a squeaky growl and bounced forward. The other slipper spun to face
her.

Alerted to an intruder by the sound, Mr. Whiskers lifted his
head and peered at the enchanted slippers. The slipper facing him saw him
first, let out a little squeal, and bounced across the floor with the other
slipper right behind it. Both slippers bounced out of the kitchen with Mr.
Whiskers hot on their trail.

Melina laughed so hard she had to sit down. “Oh, my,
Goddess! Those things are going to keep him busy for hours.”

Hearing Melina’s laughter and seeing the pure joy in her
eyes had my dick straining against my pants again, and I was suddenly thankful
that I’d shoved a condom in the pocket of my jeans before heading down for
dinner.

“You are so fucking beautiful,” I murmured, and it was no
exaggeration. Melina took my breath away every time I saw her. It seemed I was
constantly hard, and I wasn’t sure it was possible to get enough of her.

Her laughter faded when she looked at me, and I watched as
her eyes traveled down to the obvious bulge in my jeans. She hadn’t put a bra
on after our lovemaking, and I could see her hardened nipples pressed against
the fabric of her tank top. I was dying to suckle those nipples.

The buzzing of Melina’s phone, which was sitting on the
breakfast bar, made me groan because something told me I wasn’t going to get to
use the condom in my pocket anytime soon.

“Ignore it,” I told her, and she looked like she was
seriously considering it.

“I really need to see who’s calling,” she finally said, with
obvious regret. “I promised the director I’d be available if anything came up
tonight.”

I nodded, doing my best to get my dick to listen to reason.
He didn’t understand why we weren’t fucking Melina. He didn’t understand that
her job mattered.

“What is it?” she snapped into the phone, and I saw her jaw
clench as she listened to the person on the other end of the line. “Fine. I’ll
be there in an hour to come up with a work around for the scenes we need to
film tonight.” She let out an annoyed snort at whatever the person calling had
said. “Yes, you were interrupting something important, and before you ask, it’s
none of your damn business. There had better be chocolate for me when I get
there, or I will seriously lose my shit.”

Melina slammed the phone down on the counter so hard, I was
surprised it didn’t break. At least, I could take comfort in the fact that she
was obviously as frustrated as I was.

Chapter Thirty-One
Melina

“Damn Lindsey!” I growled when I ended the call. Being horny
with no relief in sight had a way of souring my mood. I knew I should be more
than sated, but I wasn’t. I needed more of Trevor, and his crazy ex was
preventing that from happening. It was tempting to suggest a quickie before I
headed out. I figured with as turned on as I was, it wouldn’t take long to get
to the big O. Unfortunately, I had no idea how long it was going to take to rewrite
the scene we were shooting tonight and get the actors up to speed. With the
most recent rewrites having already thrown us off schedule, we couldn’t afford
to miss a night of filming, which Lindsey had known.

“What happened with Lindsey?” Trevor sounded cautious,
probably worried I’d blame him for what had happened. Even though he didn’t
know exact details, he knew his ex was creating problems for me.

“It would seem she is so upset about you turning her down
that she’s decided not to show up for filming,” I explained. “At least, that’s
what everyone is assuming. She’s also sending her calls to voicemail and
ignoring email. The director wanted to know if he should send someone over to
her house.”

Trevor cringed. “I’m sorry, honey.”

I waved off his apology. “It’s not your fault she’s crazy
enough to risk throwing away her career. I honestly never expected anything
like this to happen.” Then a sudden thought occurred to me. “You don’t think
something happened to her, do you? I mean, the human police seem convinced that
Amber’s murder had nothing to do with the show, and they found the guy who
killed her.”

Most of my information had come from the news. The police
had arrested Amber’s ex-boyfriend, who had recently been paroled after serving
time for trying to beat a woman to death. Amber hadn’t been that woman, but her
testimony had helped put him away. When the police had gone to question him,
they found enough evidence to prove he was planning to kill Amber, along with
the body of another woman who hadn’t been identified yet. I was hoping the
bastard spent the rest of his life in prison.

“I’m sure Lindsey’s fine,” Trevor assured me. “She’s
probably gone on an extended shopping trip to lick her wounds.”

“This might not be such a big deal if we hadn’t given her a
bigger role this season,” I explained. “I can’t believe she’d pull something
like this. Lindsey started on the show a few months ago, and she’s worked hard
to prove herself. That’s why she was given a bigger role this season.”

“Are you sure she’s not just running late?” Trevor asked.

I sighed. “It’s not likely. Lindsey’s known for her
punctuality. I’m going to find a way to rewrite the scene for tonight without
taking too much away from her in case she has a good reason for not showing up.
Do you think she’d screw over the show because she’s pissed?”

Trevor sighed. “During the short time we dated, if she was
mad at me, she’d disappear and refuse to answer her phone. The first time, I
was worried something had happened to her, but I soon realized it was a game
she played to punish me for not giving her what she wanted. She might think not
showing up will cripple the show. With as crazy as she was acting last night,
it’s possible she thinks you need her more than she needs you.”

“She is going to be in for a nasty surprise if she believes
that,” I told him. I started toward the bedroom to put on a bra and shoes.
While I didn’t mind going casual at work, this might be a little too casual.
“We could fire her for not showing up since it’s a breach of contract without a
very good reason, and being pissed at me isn’t a good reason. If I can help it,
we won’t fire her. I get that she’s not quite right in the head, and I don’t
want to see her career ruined over this.” I could not believe I was defending
Trevor’s crazy ex. Granted, I worked with a lot of artistic people, so I was
more tolerant of crazy than I’d been when I’d written the pilot episode of
Night
High
.

Trevor grinned. “You aren’t all that tough, are you?”

I snorted. “Tell that to the people who have to put up with
me tonight.”

“Did you want me to come with you?” Trevor asked, looking
hopeful.

The honest answer was that yes I did want him to come with
me, but that would make it hard to get things done, considering I was still
having trouble convincing myself a quickie was a bad idea. “I need to focus on
work tonight,” I answered, going up on tiptoes to kiss his chin since he was
too busy preening to bend down and kiss me.

“Afraid I’ll be too much of a distraction?”

“I wouldn’t say I’m
afraid
of you distracting me,” I
told him. “More like, I’d be looking forward to you distracting me.”

His hands slid around my lower back, and I could feel his
erection pressed against my belly. “Can I bring you dinner?” Since we’d just
eaten dinner, we both knew he wasn’t offering to bring food.

I laughed. “We both know that’s code for can you fuck me on
my desk, and the answer is, not tonight. I really am going to be too busy
cleaning up this mess.”

Trevor released me and nodded. “Promise you’ll call me if
you change your mind about me coming by.”

“Promise you’ll come if I call you,” I shot back playfully.

“Oh, we’ll both come if you call me,” was Trevor’s sexy
promise, and it was a real struggle to walk out the door.

“You are such a pervert,” I accused.

“And you fucking love it,” he shot back.

I couldn’t deny it; I loved the fact that Trevor was a
pervert.
