Already she could feel every muscle and ridge of their firm bodies pressed against her. Seconds passed, and still they didn’t answer, didn’t tell her what she needed to know. Worry and fear evaded her mind. Her stomach seized, cramping, as horrid images of what might happen flashed through her mind. A light sheen of sweat coated her skin and her entire body began to quiver. She couldn’t take much more of this unnerving silence.

Dare lightly nipped the pulse point at her neck, then sighed. When he finally raised his head and looked at her, she could see the worry in his eyes. By the Lady Goddess, what did he have to tell her that worried him so?

Against her throat, Lucan growled before lifting his head. After placing a tender kiss at her temple, he rested his chin atop her head. “Just tell her, Dare. She doesn’t need you dragging this out. All you’re doing is scaring her. Better she knows just what’s she getting into, than find out later on.”
