Chapter Two

Duncan is getting busy.  Sometimes, he may not come back
for dinner.  Sometimes, he leaves for his business
after
dinner.

No one knows what he is doing.

One little thing I notice is that he is no longer banging
the doors hard.   Though still not talking to his mom directly, he seems to be
more reasonable when responding to Nancy’s requests, like coming down for
dinner or cleaning his own room.

Nancy seems to be happy with her son.

“He is staying with us.” she told Dad.

For me, Duncan remains the same.  He ignores me all the
time, like he had never touched my body or kissed me.

This makes me wonder if this is how he treated all the
girls he fucked.

But he didn’t fuck me yet, right?  Did he lose interest in
me already?

I don’t have a clue.  He has been acting like a total ass
to me since day one in this house and that hasn’t changed a bit.

For a few times, I want to talk with him about this.  I
want to know what he thinks about me.  What I can do to improve our
relationship—as siblings.

But the moment I see his cold eyes, I back off.

Before I realize it, Nancy and Dad get married.  The
wedding is simple and touching.

Coming back, they pick up the luggage and head to the
airport for their honeymoon.

Now, only Duncan and I are in this big house.

As usual, Duncan disappears into his room right away.  I
get a nice coffee and turn on my Kindle.

Sitting at the kitchen table, I’m enjoying my reading.

Suddenly, I hear him coming down to the kitchen.  I turn
off my Kindle and look at him.

As usual, he makes a coffee and then heads back.

I know he is not going to talk with me.  So I turn on my
Kindle, ready to continue.

“What are you reading?” His baritone is so close, I almost
drop my Kindle.

“A story.” I blush, turning it off again.

“What story?” He stares at me.

“None of your business, Duncan.” I stare back.

“Show me.”

“No.”

“Show me.” He raises his voice.

“No way.”

“You’re reading porn.” He smirks.

“Amazon doesn’t sell porn, you dumb head.”

“But it’s a dirty story.  I can tell.”

Jesus Christ, this Duncan is crazy.  I stare harder.  “Go
a... Ouch.”

He is fast.  Now my Kindle is in his hand.

“Give back my Kindle, you idiot.”

He puts his coffee on the table and pushes my hands away.
“Oh, my, look at this, ‘His thick cock slides in, paralyzing me right away.’
Are you paralyzed, sis?”

My cheeks are burning.  “It’s ROMANCE, okay?” I protest.

“I love romance.  Let me read it.” He grins.

“It’s my Kindle.”

“Too late.” He grabs his coffee and rushes upstairs.

Gosh, this is so embarrassing.  I admit the story I’m
reading has some sensual content,  but they are part of the romantic story.

I’ve celebrated my eighteenth birthday a while ago. I’m now
eligible to read adult content.

This silly stepbrother is making a big deal out of it.  I
bet he is now reading that part.  Maybe that’s the only part he’s going to read.

Boy, now I remember something—I have over thirty stories
just like that on my Kindle.  Is he going to read them all today?

What is he going to think about me?

I dare not to think further.  My body is hot all over.  My
blush is setting fire on my cheeks.

I tiptoe upstairs, listening carefully.  He is super
quiet.

Whatever.  I can care only that much.  What happened has
happened.

I walk into my room and close the door.

Maybe I can take a nap?

I drop onto my bed and close my eyes.

My cellphone rings.

“Zoe, what’s up?”

“Hey, Sophia, how was the wedding?”

“Great.”

“So…”

“They left for the honeymoon.”

“Wow, oh, man…” She begins to giggle.

“What’s wrong with you, Zoe?”

“Only you and your new stepbrother at home, huh?” Her
voice is so freaking sensual.

“So?”

“Are you going to fuck him tonight?”

“Holy fuck, Zoe, you’re so dirty.” My cheeks are all red.

“Tell me you don’t want to.”

“Shut up, Zoe.  Don’t talk nonsense.  Are you going to
fuck your brother?”

“You think he is your brother?” She giggles then asks, “What
is he doing?”

“Reading.”

“Reading?  Duncan is reading?”

“Yeah.  He can read, can’t he?”

“I bet he’s reading comics.”

“Hey, Humming Bird, you’re so freaking wrong this time.
He’s reading romance.  R-o-m-a-n-c-e.”

“Oh, wow.  You know what?  He wants you.”

“Yeah, right.” My smirk is huge.

“Else he wouldn’t read a romance story in front of you,
right?”

“Right.”  I don’t bother hiding my sarcasm.

Oh, boy, this nosy to-be psychologist is
so wrong
this time.

We chat for about an hour and a half.  Girly things
anyway.

I’m getting hungry.

“Hey, Zoe, I’m going downstairs to eat now.”

“What are you going to eat?”

Oops.  I never thought about that.  Maybe I can cook
something quick, like spaghetti?

“Don’t know.  I’ll figure it out.”

“Take it easy, Sophia.  Make sure…” She stops
mid-sentence.

“Make sure what?”

“Make sure not get fucked too hard.  That hurts.”  She
bursts into laughter.

“Shut. Up.” I hang up.

Chapter Two

Walking downstairs, I smell something good.

Duncan is eating pizza.  Beside him is a big pizza box and
a Pepsi.

I swallow my drool.  “Can I eat a slice?” I ask.

“Go get your own.” He doesn’t even raise his eyes to look
at me.

What an asshole.  I’m going to cook my spaghetti.

Storming into the kitchen, I see a pizza box labeled
‘Sophia’.  Beside it is a Coke and a box of fries.

I take everything and walk back.  “Thank you, Duncan.”

“I hope you like it.” He looks at me.

I open the box.  Wow, it’s my favorite pepperoni pizza
with a few extra toppings.

“How did you know my favorite?” I smile at him.

“We live together, sis.” He picks up his Pepsi.

We eat and chat.  Wow, he is now talking to me.  I’m so
excited.

“Want a coffee?” he asks.

“Yeah, please.”

“With milk, right?”

“Yup.” He sure knows what I like.

I sip my coffee.  It’s good.

“Duncan,” I look at him. “Can I ask you a question?”

“Sure.” He holds his coffee cup with both hands, looking
at me.

“Why didn’t you talk to me?”

“Because I don’t want to hurt you.” He gives me a small
smile.

“Are you serious?  Why do you think so?” I’m so surprised.

“Look, I know you want me.”

I blush all over.  “Duncan…”

“You and your friend, Zoe, were waiting at school to see
me every day, right?”

“How did you know?  We were chatting.” My blush turns
deeper.

“Bullshit.  You were peeking with your mouths shut.”

“We were
not
looking at you, Duncan.” Gosh, my
cheeks are so hot.

“You think guys are so freaking dumb, huh?”

We both laugh.

“Guess what?  Sophia, I like you more than you like me.”

I can’t believe my ears.  “Are you serious, Duncan?”

“Yup.”

“I thought you didn’t like me.”

“Why did you think so?”

“You had all those girls.”

“Yeah.  But you’re different.”  He looks at me for a few
moments and then continues, “You’re the princess.  But I’m nothing.  I don’t
deserve your love.”

“Duncan, you’re smart and strong.  Every girl likes you.
Don’t you know that?”

“But no one knows my world.  My life is all fucked.”

“Duncan, are you serious?”

“Let’s eat first. Then I’ll show you something.”

We finish our meal quickly and clean up the table.

“Give me a sec.” He rushes upstairs.

What is he going to show me?  A gun?

My heart races fast.

“See…” He hands me a photo album.

I look at him.

“Check it out.” He smiles.

I flip through it and see him having fun with some guys
and girls.

Then I see a special photo. “Are these cigarettes?”

“What?  Holy fuck, Sophia, you know nothing about the
real
world.” He grins.

“Jeez, you’re so rude, Duncan.”  I think again.  “They are
tobacco, right?”

“You think so?  You call this shit ‘tobacco’?” He looks
into my eyes, shaking his head.  His voice is full of sympathy.

I blush all over.  Finally, a word slips out of my lips. “Pot?”

 “Right.”

“You smoked pot?”

“And sold it, too.” His smile disappeared completely.

“Duncan, that’s illegal.”

“You’re so fucking right.  That’s why I hate this woman so
much.”

“Your mom asked you to sell pot?”

“Nope.  But she made this happen.”

“She’s so nice.”

“Right. Nice to you.  For my dad and me, she was totally
evil.”

“Duncan, are you serious?  She’s so caring.”

“Not when I was young.  Want to know the ugly story?”

I bite my lower lip and think hard.  Honestly, I’d rather
not but Duncan needs me to share his pain.

I nod slightly.  “Yeah, if you don’t mind.”

“She was a working ass.”

“Duncan, she’s your
mother
.”  I feel so bad he used
the word ‘ass’.

He shrugs.  “At the time, my parents were working for a
bank.  Dad was a normal guy, going to work and then back home.  But she kept
working in the office
and
at home.”

“Many people do that.”

“Not that crazy, Sophia.  Then the recession hit, my dad
lost his job.  She began to yell at Dad, telling him how useless he was.”

“That was awful.”

“Guess what?  She asked for a divorce.”

“She
did
?”

“Yup.”

“Your dad agreed?”

“What else could he do?  He couldn’t find a job.  And she
kept yelling at him, ‘Stop drinking!’ ‘Why don’t you go find a job?’ ‘You’re so
worthless.’  A total asshole, you know.”

“Gosh, that was awful.”

“She sold the house and left.” Duncan grinds his teeth.

“Didn’t she bring you?”

“Nope.   She didn’t come back to see me either.  Oh, well,
maybe once or twice a year.”

“What kind of mom is she?”

“Now you know why I hate her so much.”

“But now she’s different.  She’s more like a normal mom.”

“After so many years, maybe she learned.  But my life was all
fucked.”

“So you… touched drugs?”

“Drinking first, and then pot.”

“Where did you get the money for the drugs?”

“By selling pot.”

“Oh, my gosh, the cops may catch you.”

“They did.”

Chapter Three

“Duncan, you
did
get caught?”

He nods.

“Did the cops put you in jail?” I hold his hand.  My heart
is racing like crazy.

He nods again.  “Look, Sophia, my life is all doomed.  So,
please stay away from me.”

“But I love you.” I hold his hand tight.

He holds my cheeks with both hands, looking into my eyes
for a long time.

“Duncan, kiss me.” I murmur.

His lips move closer, his head tilting.

I close my eyes and wait.

But nothing happens.

I open my eyes and see his lips only a few inches away.

“Duncan?”

He drops his hands and sits up straight.  “Look,” He puts
up a small smile.  “I’m not worth your love.  I don’t want to hurt you.”

“You’re not hurting me, Duncan.”

“But my previous life will.”

“Duncan, you are so young.  You can start all over, can’t you?”

“I
am
, Sophia.  Now I have nothing to do with drugs,
but let’s face it, you’re going to college.  You have a great future.  I have
nothing
.”

“Why can’t you go to college, too?  Let’s go together.”

“I hate school.”

“But you’re doing well in school, right?”

“Soccer is the only thing I like, Sophia.”

“Maybe you will be a pro player one day.”

“I can try.” He smiles.

Suddenly, I remember something.  “Duncan, what happened to
you not long ago?”

“What do you mean?”

“You stopped going to school.  Did you… get caught?”

“The drug shit?  Oh, no.  I was starting my business.  As
I said, I hate school.  So I figured I might do something else.”

“What kind of business?” Wow, Duncan has a business.  This
is so awesome.

“You don’t want to know.” He winks.

“Yes, I do.”

“Sure?”

“Yup.”

He looks into my eyes and says one word a time. “Garbage
collection.”

“What?” I was thinking about all kinds of odd things he
might be trying, like chimney cleaning, but this is beyond my imagination.

“See…” He pats my hand.

“Not that I don’t like it.” I try to explain.

“Tell me you
love
the shit.” He grins.

“Well, I’m just wondering where you’re going to get the
money to buy those big garbage trucks.”

“Oh, that.  See, I’m not collecting the garbage in the
neighborhood.  I’m doing it for businesses.”

“Got it.  You do the garbage collection and cleaning in
the evening, right?”

“Right.”

“All by yourself?”

“No way. I’m the boss, the CEO and president, okay?” He
grins.

“So you have guys working for you?”

“Friends.  They get paid for the hours they work.”

“Smart.  So…, how’s the business going so far?”

“I have two clients.  I’m working on more.  I want to buy
a house next year.”

“Really?  Duncan, this is great.  Let’s work together to
expand the business.” I’m so excited.

“Don’t be silly, Sophia.  You’re going to college.”

“But I changed my mind.”  I stand up and pace fast.
“Look, we can expand our business, settle down, and then have bab…”

Oops!  I blush deep.

“Are you serious, Sophia?  You will feel sorry later on.”

“I will
not
.” I sit down and look at him.  “When
can we start?”

He thinks for a few moments and then says, “I’m going to
follow up with a business owner tomorrow.  Want to join?”

“Sure.”

“But he is a tough ass.”

“I know how to deal with those people.  Tell me everything
about him.” I stand up to grab my notepad.

The moment we finish our first business discussion, it’s almost
midnight.

“Sophia…” Duncan looks at me.  “I forgot one thing.”

“What?”

“Tomorrow is a week day.”

“Sure it is.  That’s why we can go see him, right?”

“But you have school.”

Yeah, right.  I begin to think.

“So…” He looks at me then says, “How about you go to
school and I’ll go meet him.”

“No way, Duncan.  You need help to secure the business,
right?”

“Right, but…”

“See…, okay, I can call for a sick day.”

“Oh, no, you’re not.”

“Yes, I
am
.” I pick up the phone.

“Sophia.” Duncan holds my hand.  “It’s midnight.”

“Oops.”

He lets go of my hand.  “Let’s get some good sleep.  I
guess I need a shower.  Yeah, right, why don’t you take a shower first?”

“Duncan…”

“What?”

“I want to continue from where we stopped.”

“You mean… in the shower?”

“Yeah.  Can we?” My body is turning sizzling hot.

“Mmm-hmm…” He thinks for a short moment and then says,
“I’d love to.  But as I said, I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Duncan, it was over.  Now we are working on our own
business.  You’re not going to hurt me.”

“Ummm, okay… but…”

“Be a man, Duncan.  What’s wrong with you today?  I
thought you’re a real man.” I’m a bit angry.

“Sorry, Sophia.  See, I mean, this sibling shit.  You
know…”

Step
-siblings, okay? No law says we can’t.”

“But our parents…”

“Our lives are ours, okay?  If they don’t like us, we can
move out.  Let’s go.”  I grab his hand and walk upstairs.

Suddenly, my body is lifted into the air.  I scream.

He holds me tight and walks quickly.

“Put me down, Duncan.  Gosh, it’s so scary.  Dammit,
Duncan.  Did you hear me?” I hold his neck tight.

He puts me down right in front of the bathroom.

I giggle and push my hair back.  “Gosh, Duncan, you scared
me to de…”

My voice is blocked by his kiss.
