Adam sat at the short end of the L-shaped couch while Eve lay next to him with her legs stretched out on the long part. She had
rubbed her
hand over his chest
for quite a while when she lowered it
toward the center of his body.

Stopping
at the button on his pants
, she released it. After sliding her hand inside his pants she
found him hard.

“What are you trying to do to
me, torture me?” he whispered. She didn’t reply but started to move from her position.

“You’re not getting away that easy,” he s
aid placing his lips on hers
. He was
urgent in his kissing, forcing her lips to yield to his.

“If you insist,”
she
whispered between breaths. Adam moved his hands inside
her shirt and across her
breasts and then swiftly p
ulled the shirt up over her
head.

“God you’re beaut
iful,” he said as he unhooked her
bra. “Now, get those pants off before I completely lose my mind,” he said taking in deep short breaths.

She
f
reed the button and zipper of her
jeans and wiggled out of them, leaving
her
in
only her underwear. Adam sat up, kissing her
belly and move
d his hands on either side of her hips. He had her pinned
so that
she
couldn’t escape.

Both of them breathed erratically as he rubbed his face toward her
breasts, his tongue
washed over them and she shivered from a chill
.

He had complete control of her body and it made him smile. Swiftly, he slipped his hand inside her thin underwear
and
ripped them apart. Dropping them to the ground, he repositioned Eve so that s
he
straddled him.

“Adam I want you,” she begged.

Adam lifted
her
up and laid
her
on the nearby table.

“Oh, Adam!” She
called out as he
thrust himself inside of her
.
Reaching down, he rolled one nipple between his finger and thumb and then the other. Eve bucked beneath him and a jolt of turbulence
caused s
trange sensations to ripple through his body.

Adam steadied himself for a moment as the bumpiness of the flight passed. Eve giggled as another wave hit them. It must be doing the same thing to her, he thought.

Grabb
ing her clothes, Eve
headed for the bathroom. Adam
had moved to a pair of
leather seat
s when she
returned. Patting
his hands on his lap he took her hand and pulled her to him, kissing her
again.

“Did you know, Mrs. St. James that we get to do that whenever we want to now?”
he asked. She
placed
her
hand on his cheek and kissed him again.

“That’s a real shame, sex whenever you want. And not just sex but incredibly good sex
.

She
smiled.
They
sat there for a while before
she
fell asleep in his arms.
Adam shifted so that she was sitting next to him and wrapped his arm around her. It didn’t take long before Adam fell asleep too.

Adam slept hard and knew he had because when he woke five hours had passed and he hadn’t even been aware. Looking down, he found Eve curled up next to him. She looked so peaceful, but they would be landing soon so he slipped away from her to the bathroom.

Upon his return, he kissed her softly on the cheek.

“Hello angel,” he said
.
“We’re landing soon. I thought you might want to change clothes
beforehand
.”

“Thanks.”
She straightened her clothes and smoothed her hair. Not that he cared, she was beautiful just the way she was.

They
walked down the
stairs of the plane to find them
selves in Acapulco. The sun shining, the temperature a warm
eighty-two
degrees and
Eve
was wearing the same dress that
she had worn when they left Maui and while Adam liked it
,
he knew
a
wardrobe was going t
o have to be a priority unless she
was to wear the same dress forever.

A limo awaited
them and took them to a hotel right on the beach. Adam spoke in
Spanish
to the clerk at the desk to get them ch
ecked in and they went on to their room.

They
were on the ground floor and
their
room faced the ocean. It was a suite with a bedroom, living area and a bathroom.
There were pros and cons to being on the ground floor, but mostly pros. In case of emergency they would be able to get away quicker.

Adam watched Eve walk through to the
back of the room and he quickly followed along.
She
pulled the sliding doors open
and walked
out to a vast concrete patio with iron table and chairs under the shade of an umbrella. The view was incredible.

“I promise that I will keep you safe,” Adam whispered
as he wrapped his arms around her
. “I want you to enjoy every second of your life going forward.”

“O
ur life,” she
corrected. “And
I know you will keep me safe,” she
whispered.

Chapter
10.

The next several weeks passed j
ust as they should have since they
were technically on
their honeymoon. They ate, slept and loved just as they wanted and
when
they wanted.
They
hiked in
the hills, went
horseback riding on the Revolc
adero Beach, and swam in the ocean.
Adam rarely left her side, making sure that she
was a
lways safe.

Eve had grown accustomed to the fact
that everywhere they
went he was carrying a gun either on his person
,
or in the car.
Adam had taken her to a secluded area so that she could practice shooting as well, and she had become an excellent shot. Her preferred weapon though was her diving knife. She usually had it strapped to her leg under her dresses or in her bag.

They had even continued their workouts at a gym where Adam taught Eve how to kick and spare in boxing matches against one another. Eve loved their sparing matches because Adam would never hit her hard and let her get in as many
cross punches as she could. He had told her to hit him as if her life depended on it.

The other part of their defensive tactics included
conversa
tions between Adam
and Sam
,
and other individuals back in Chicago several times a week. He was constantly checking on the status of the situation. Judge Hurst was indirectly having Sanders investigated in order to come up with something on him that connected him to
her
attempted murder.

I
t was the end of April now and Eve
had
become
very comfortable in this lifestyle. Wak
ing each day with Adam next to her
and spen
ding the days just being alive satisfied her even though she had to be on constant alert.

“I’m going to go get some shampoo and pickles at the Shopette, do you need anything?”
she
asked him one afternoon.

Pickles and shamp
oo that’s an odd combination?” Adam looked up from his laptop to her.

“What? I want pickles, I haven’t had
any in I don’t know how long,” she
told him.

“I’ll go with you.” Adam rose from the desk and walked toward her.

“I’ll be fine by myself for ten minutes I think.”
Eve thought that surely she would be all right for a few minutes. The Shopette was only a block away and it was one in the afternoon. She saw the hesitation in Adam’s eyes, but he nodded anyway.

“All right then, but be wary of your surroundings and who’s following you.” Adam dipped his head down to kiss her.

“Mmmm,” she moaned. His taste never got old.

She
walked down the hall and outside to the Shopette, it was a convenienc
e type store
. As
she
strolled through the short aisles
,
she
found the pickles that
she craved
and the
n moved on to add Twinkies to her
basket too. After addin
g some other impulse items to her
purchases
,
she remembered that she
needed shampoo.

The health and beauty section was one short aisle. It included toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, and then one
particular item shelf caught her
eye
. The feminine hygiene products.
She
realized that
she
hadn’t had a period in a while. How long had it been?

Eve
did the math in
her
head and realized that
it had been nine or ten weeks. She
had missed it completely, twice.

She never missed, but she knew that the stress of their new life could have caused it and all of the extra activities could also change it. But to miss it twice? She froze for a few minutes as she
looked at the
pregnancy tests.

Michael and
Eve
had tried for years to have a baby and couldn’t.

It must be the stress, there’s absolutely no way!

The longer she
stared
at the tests though, the more she
began to think that it might be possible, that
she
might be pregnant.
Eve
picked up a pregnancy test and added it to
her
basket.
As she
walked to the register and paid for the items,
her
thoughts
were
on the pregnancy test the entire time.

Eve
had gone to the fertility specialists and
they said that the chances of
conceiving were, well
she
couldn’t remember what the odds were but it might as we
ll have been one in a million. She
was a nurse for God’s sake.
She
knew the
make
-
up
of the human body and how it worked
, so she tried to keep from getting her hopes up as she walked back to their room.

She
got
to their
room only to find Adam gone. No note or anything.

Odd.
V
ery odd considering the car keys were laying on the table with his wallet.
Maybe he had gone to the beach. Eve
was still pre
occupied with the thought that she
might be pregnant, so
she
sat
her
bags down and
retrieved
the pregnancy test.

Eve
went into the bathroom and read the directions for the test. After pee
ing on the stick and capping it she
sat it on the counter and watched. The purple line appeared in the second window quickly showing the test was working. The first window showed a single line at first and then slowly a second line appeared.

Positive. It’s positive, that’s not possible.

Eve
stood there not sure of what to do. What would Adam say
? This wasn’t in the plan. Yes, she
wanted to be a mother and he said that he wanted a f
amily, but now
?

A baby, oh
help
!

She
walked back into the living area o
f their
suite to wait for Adam. Eve
sat on the couch staring at the wall for an i
ndefinite amount of time. Then she
began to pace back and forth wondering where he might be a
nd more importantly how she
was going to tell him. A short time had passed so
she dialed his cell phone.
