“Hey! I resemble that comment!” Tony shouted from a nearby table.

“Yeah, you do,” Carla called back. “He’s still recovering from Sharon’s baby shower.”

“God, I hate flying,” Grant mumbled into his beer stein. “I’ve never done so much of it, even when I was an Olympic hopeful.”

When barks of laughter pealed out from across the room, everyone at the table stood to see Seth pointing down triumphantly to a cowering Curt. “It hit him!” Seth announced. “He’ll be the next bride.”

The room broke out into applause as Grant groaned. Carla reached beneath the tablecloth and squeezed his thigh, which earned her a cheeky look. “Why did your mother make me invite them?”

“Because they’re your only friends in the US. Besides, I think she felt bad for throwing them in the drunk tank that one time.”

“Shouldn’t have let them out.”

Holley Trent

Holley Trent writes sassy, sensual romances set in her home state of North Carolina. They range from campy rip-roaring comedies to cheeky paranormals to works like Saint and Scholar that are a bit more serious (and this is as serious as Holley gets).

Saint and Scholar was sparked by memory of an actual event. During her freshman year of college, Holley took a mandatory introductory foreign language course taught by a handsome international student. She’d all but forgotten about him until one day several semesters later when he called her out across the quad. He remembered her name! …and also admitted he’d been wondering what’d happened to her.

Holley pondered what would happen if that friendly banter with the T.A. had been a little more flirtatious…or if she’d been a little less oblivious. She’s pretty sure now he was coming on to her.

Holley is currently writing romances for Grant’s friends Curt and Seth.
