My
mouth crashes on hers like an uncontrollable tidal wave, and we kiss each other
like starved animals. My tongue forces her mouth to open wider and I delve in.

I
can still control myself I tell myself, and I pull back, scrambling  to keep at
a distance, but she pulls me in, grabbing hold of my hair and my face with both
hands. She’s holding my face in place while she tenderly kiss my lips from the
top lip to the bottom in small kisses that ended up with her planting her lips
open mouth against mine. It is the most loving, sweetest, yet sexy kiss of
dance I’ve ever had. But when her soft pink tongue dart out to trace my lips
and then to brush against mine, I knew there was no going back. There can never
be a go-back with her. She had claimed me the moment we first kissed.

I.
Am. So. Fucked.

Epilogue

Summer

I’m
in a state of oblivion. I could not even function. For days after hearing about
Nat, I became catatonic. It was worse than when I heard about Aunt Sookie. I
somehow had time to prepare for the news of her death, knowing she was bad off
at the hospital. But Nat…

My
heart feels as though it has been ripped out.

For
once, I didn’t know what to do.

Nat
had always been my rock, even if he was in San Francisco, even if he didn’t
know it. He had always been my mental rock. Now he was gone.

The
only solace I had was with Drew and Rachel. I didn’t care anymore about the
boundaries I had with Drew. Friends, lover, non-friend…it didn’t matter to me
anymore. I just knew I felt so much for him, and he was here. He was here for
me, and I was here for him.

It
hit Drew hard about Nat, too.

So
in a way…we comforted each other the best and only way we knew how…with each
other.

Then
one day when the pain subsided a bit, I remembered Nat’s instructions to me,
instructions he left for me about Donovan Dynamics.

I
went to my room and found the beautiful linen envelope on top of my dressing
table, addressed to: Summer. And carefully brought it to the kitchen counter,
where I had shared many breakfasts throughout the years with Nat. I gingerly
opened it, and began reading it.

Nat’s Letter to Summer

My
Perfect Summer,

I
know we’re used to calling or texting each other whenever we needed to talk to
each other, but I wanted to try something different this time, because this is
one of those times that I wish to preserve in memory, as well as paper in hopes
that someday our children or future generation could read and cherish.

Aunt
Sookie had always been fond of letters, written in the old fashioned way. That
when forced to sit down to write a letter, taking pen to paper, you spend more
time thinking about what you want to say, and how to say it.

She
told me once that traditions like that are worth preserving. And when it comes
to anything to do with you, I want to make sure it is preserved.

Aunt
Sookie lived life to the fullest. She taught us to learn from the past, enjoy
the now, and prepare for the future.  You have always been part of my past, my
now, and even my future.

I
have avoided love for so long. I have been too afraid to open myself up to it,
afraid I will only be disappointed. But when you came along into my life, so
new to the world at only four years old to my five years old, I felt the
stirring of love and friendship. It wasn’t until we were beginning our teens
that the love I felt for you was the kind a man has for a woman.

My
instructions to you when you’re ready to read this letter is to live life to
the fullest. To love life to the fullest. Regardless of who you end up with,
who is blessed to be the man to spend the rest of your life with, I wish you
happiness. And a lifetime of lasting love.

Wherever
you go, whatever the weather and time of year; with you, it’ll always be a
Perfect Summer.

I
love you with all my heart.

The Truth Behind LOVING SUMMER

After Loving Summer was
published, I received many emails asking me if it was based on a true story.

Loving Summer is a
compilation of 2 families I knew growing up. Ironically, two families with two
gorgeous brothers and a pretty sister.

Both of them were families
my family grew close to at the time their mothers were having difficulties.
Neither of them knew of each other, but both at different periods in their
lives went through similar situations of divorce and being a single mother
raising three kids.

The character I most
resembled is Aunt Sookie. Mainly because I have or rather had diabetes like the
kind Aunt Sookie had. Complicated and potentially life threatening.  For a
moment in 2012, I did face a life and death situation with my health, brought
on by diabetes.

With the love of my family
and the strength from prayers, and a dedicated lifestyle change of healthier
living and choices, I was able to get to a point of normalcy, getting to a
diagnosis of “Normal”.

Loving Summer is a miracle
book, and if it wasn’t for that book and the situation that coincidentally came
up in it, I would not have been able to be diagnosed and “cured” of diabetes.

Sometimes writing is a way
of growth and journey for an author as well as a form of entertainment for
readers.  I am humbly and sincerely grateful for the opportunity for Loving
Summer and my books to touch you in any way.

Thank you for reading
Loving Summer.  I hope you enjoyed it.

If you enjoyed it, I
appreciate you letting others know.  Positive reviews and word-of-mouth is very
much appreciated, too.

The FADE Series

Book 1:  FADE

A Thriller
from Bestselling Author Kailin Gow
What if you found out you never existed?

My name is Celestra Caine. I am seventeen years old, which makes me a senior at
Richmond High. I never thought this would happen to me, but it has... I'm one
of those people you see every day, go to school with, remember seeing at the
supermarket or the mall, and then one day you don't hear about them any longer.
They're gone, and eventually, you forget them.

Book 2:  Falling

What is Celestra Caine? Who is
she and did she ever existed? The Faders and the Others clash at the
Underground, sending everything into a tailspin. Celestra is pulled into more
intrigue, more danger, and more romance, as she discovers who she is and why
everyone wants to get her.

Book 3:  Forgotten

A love that can never
be forgotten…

The truth about Celestra Caine comes back in the most shocking way. Everyone
knew Celestra Caine was dangerous, but they didn’t know she was THAT dangerous…
As Celestra’s memories begin returning to her after being Faded, and her identity
is revealed, she learns the fate of the world really is in her hands, and that
she, the mysterious and sexy fader Jack, and her handsome ex-boyfriend Gray are
more connected to each other than she ever imagined.

In this dystopian YA thriller, where nothing is what it seems, sometimes love
can be strong enough to withstand time and space and never be forgotten.
