She nodded and followed him when he took her hand and led her from the room.

When they were back in his bedroom he turned to her. “Will you come here after work?”

“I don’t know. Won’t you get sick of me if I’m always around you? You admitted you’ve never been one for relationships.”

“I wasn’t, but I hadn’t met you. I want you to come back and stay with me.”

“Are you going to get someone to turn you vampire again? I know you are not enjoying your life as a human now, but would you please, please do me a favour and give it two weeks? It’s not long, just two and see how you feel after that, please, can you do that for me?” Her eyes were pleading as she stared up at him.

He felt his heart contract at her beauty and at what she was asking of him. He wanted to be vampire again. It was like a smoker who had given up. Being around smokers made it harder to be strong and kick the habit. That was how he felt about being surrounded by vampires. He envied them, he wanted what they had and the more he was exposed to them, the more he wanted his old life back.

Fabian’s eyes moved over her face and he silently groaned. He would give her the two weeks she was asking for. It wouldn’t change his opinion, he knew that. But for her, he’d put up with two more weeks in this human skin, and then he would get one of his children to change him back to vampire.

He nodded. “Ok my beauty, you shall get your two weeks, but don’t get your hopes too high. I believe that I will still want to go back to being vampire at the end of that time. I’m sorry if that displeases you but you loved me as vampire, I hope that you can love me as vampire again.”

She stared up at him for the longest time, not speaking and he felt his stomach knot with tension. Would she still want him when he was vampire again? She had to, because he couldn’t give her what she wanted. He could suffer through the two weeks but he had no intention of staying human forever. It just wasn’t his style and if he had any chance of retaining control now Nick and Allie were back, he needed to be vampire. No one was going to take him seriously or have any respect for him as a human. He would lose his position that he’d held ever since he’d turned Nick, Damien, Lucian and Francesca and he wasn’t prepared to settle for anything less. He intended to be vampire again; nothing and no one would change that.

Despite his determination he still found it hard to ignore the little voice in his head that told him he risked it all by reverting back to vampire, and he pulled Sirene into his arms for one last kiss before she left to go to work, pushing the thoughts that troubled him down deep inside himself.

Chapter Eighteen

Sirene

Fabian and I settled into a routine of me working and coming over to his home although I wouldn’t stay all the time. I didn’t want to be paying rent on a room I was never in, plus he could be so intense I simply needed a break from him occasionally. His intensity surprised me somewhat given he wasn’t vampire anymore, but it seemed like certain traits he’d had as vampire, still lingered in him even though he was now human.

He was never happy when I didn’t stay over, becoming all brooding and sulking but if I dared to accuse him of that, he just got pissed off. He was such a child at times, a 600 year old child at that.

He was still human although reluctantly I suspected at this stage. Somehow I cajoled him into staying that way, despite the two weeks he’d promised me, being up by a couple of days. He was restless and unsettled though, and I knew he wouldn’t stay human much longer. The clock was ticking on when he would ask one of his children to turn him back.

Each day, I worried this would be the last day he spent as human and I wondered if there was anything that could happen to convince him not to turn back to vampire.

I never expected something to happen that could very well change everything, but it did. One morning while at home with Cassie and Chloe, with the girl talk centred around menstruating and what a curse it was, I realised I hadn’t been ‘cursed’ in what felt like a long time.

Suddenly panicked, I rushed upstairs to my room and dug out my diary, scanning rapidly through it for reference to my last period. When I started counting the days, my heart dropped when I realised I was late. Fucking hell, was I pregnant? I was on the damn pill though, and then my heart skipped a beat again. Yeah, but with all that had happened to Fabian, the car, him turning human and his need to have me close, I’d missed some days on and off.

I had to know for sure though. I threw my bag over my shoulder and hurried downstairs again, telling the girls I had to duck out for a minute, noting their surprised faces as I rushed past. I didn’t stop though and once I was in my car, I drove to the nearest shopping centre to buy a pregnancy test kit.

An hour later, my fears were confirmed as I stared at the strip with its two blue lines, and two blue lines meant ‘you damned fool if you’d remembered to take the pill you wouldn’t be in this position now.’ Well, it didn’t say all that, it merely confirmed I was pregnant, but the two blue lines mocked me all the same, reminding me of my own stupidity.

While I cursed myself for forgetting to be vigilant with something as important as the pill, I cringed thinking how I’d given Fabian crap over condoms and then assured him I was on the pill. God, what was he going to say? Would he be happy or totally pissed off? Could the prospect of being a father be enough to make him want to stay human?

This whole situation was unbelievable. If Fabian hadn’t died that morning and I’d reversed time to bring him back, which brought him back human, none of this would be happening now. A vampire couldn’t get me pregnant.

Despite my shock and horror over my condition one thing was clear to me, I was keeping the baby. Being pregnant wasn’t exactly something I’d planned, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to survive financially since I didn’t know if I’d still have a job. Terry had given me regular work singing at his club, but whether he’d still want me once I was big and heavily pregnant, I wasn’t so sure.

Wondering how I was going to do this made me break out in a cold sweat, but the thought of telling Fabian was worse, it scared the absolute crap out of me. I had no idea how he would react. In a perfect world he’d be fine, he’d want to get married, or at least for us to live together, and he’d take to the idea of becoming a father with joy and excitement.

Still, this was Fabian and he was not predictable at all. I honestly had no idea how he would react. The one thing I hoped more than anything though was that this would be enough for him to choose to stay human for myself and our unborn child.

Fuck, unborn child, I was carrying a child. My hands spread over my still flat stomach and I felt the nerves kick in. My life was going to change so much due to me getting distracted and forgetting to take the pill for three or four days. Who’d have guessed that Fabian’s damn sperm would be such strong little buggers? The man hadn’t been human in 600 years. He was made human and had only been human for days when I must have actually conceived. He had to have super sperm or something, the kind of sperm that could survive centuries and not die. He was too damn virile and combined with my neglect with the pill; we’d managed to make a baby. We’d had a lot of sex but Fabian had a high sex drive whether human or vampire, so it shouldn’t be any real surprise, but it was.

Suddenly my heart leapt violently in my chest. Fuck would Fabian think I’d planned this to try and trap him? Would he think it was it was a master plan of mine to keep him human? It was an accident. I would never do something like that intentionally but the question was, would he believe me and how would he handle the news that he was going to be a father?

Fabian

As soon as Fabian picked Sirene up from the club after work he sensed something was wrong. She was unusually quiet and seemed distracted.

“What’s wrong my beauty? Did you have a bad night at work?” He frowned. Did she have a night of men harassing her? He hated the thought that drunk men put their hands on her sometimes, and he would never forget the man who had died because he’d touched her, torn her clothes and had intended raping her when he’d grabbed her in the car park after work one night.

A strong emotion surged through him at the idea of someone touching her and he realised it was jealousy. Definitely something he was unaccustomed to feeling.

“Did some man touch you? Did he hurt you?” He asked.

Sirene shook her head. “No Fabian. I’m just tired. Would you mind if we went back to my place tonight? I’m seriously not in the mood for all your extended family.”

Fabian frowned. He knew what she meant. His extended family were the vampires that shared his home. He had turned them all at various stages and soon he would be back amongst them as a vampire himself.

“Are you sure there’s nothing wrong? You seem…well, I’m not sure, but something doesn’t seem quite right with you. Please talk to me.”

“Can we just go back home and then I’ll talk ok? It’s nothing that happened at work though, so relax.” She placed a hand on his thigh as he drove and he tensed up under her touch. She affected him so much. Just one touch and he wanted her. He always wanted her though. Sometimes he couldn’t get his damn cock in her fast enough. She had such a powerful effect on him and he was not used to that. No woman had ever meant as much to him as Sirene did.

When they pulled up in the driveway of the home Sirene shared with Cassandra and Chloe, he followed her to the front door. Once they were inside, they spent a few minutes talking to the other ladies before Sirene poured them both a drink and they headed upstairs to her room. Once they were inside, he took her drink from her hand and placed both his and hers on the low table by the two seater lounge, before pulling her into his arms. His lips crashed down on hers forcing them apart and his tongue pushed inside to tangle with hers. He kissed her desperately, passionately; he kissed her like a starving man. It was always like this with her though. He couldn’t keep his hands off her and as his cock hardened in his jeans, he cupped her ass, grinding himself against her.

He pulled away and began to remove her clothes, his excitement building as more and more of her was exposed to his hungry gaze. Once she was naked she climbed onto her bed and lay watching him, her eyes dark and clouded with her desire.

Fabian stripped out of his jeans and t-shirt as quickly as he could, kicking off his socks and once he was finally naked, he crawled over the bed until he was straddling her. He lowered his lips to her neck, nibbling his way down, over her collarbone before moving lower to suck her nipple into his mouth. Once the nipple was hard against his tongue, he turned his attention on the other one, feeling it pucker under his touch.

Continuing on down, he parted her legs, licking his way up her seam, from that tight little hole that he’d had the pleasure of being inside, through her folds, dipping into her cunt before circling her clit. He could hear her gasping, feel her moving under him, arching up, pressing her soaked pussy more firmly against his mouth. Feeling her excitement growing, hearing it in her breathing, the soft little cries spilling from her, only pushed his own desire higher and he groaned, his hips moving restlessly on the bed. He needed to be inside her.

She didn’t come to stay with him every day so he hadn’t had access to her hot little body for a couple of days. He wasn’t used to going more than a day without sex or taking himself in hand so he was nearly out of his mind with lust. Going from vampire to human hadn’t reduced his sex drive at all. He still wanted it as often as possible and with Sirene he wanted inside her body as often as he could get there.

Hastily he sat up, grabbing her legs and hooking them over his shoulders. His eyes dropped to the delights on display between her spread thighs and his nostrils flared as the scent of her arousal rose up, making a drop of pre cum bead at the head of his cock. Fuck she was stunning; the sight of her spread wide for him, cunt all wet and inviting, her folds pink and shining with the moisture that nearly wept from her, and her clit swollen, had him so hard for her it was painful. It was a relief to see her need for him was as great as his need for her, and right now, he had to be inside her before he embarrassed himself and came all over her.

“Fuck you’re so damn beautiful.” He groaned, shifting forward, her legs still over his shoulders. Curling his arms around them, he tilted his hips, lining his swollen cock up at her entrance and with a quick lunge, he was in her, plunging deep, hearing her cry out at his sudden invasion of her body.

His hands grasped her legs firmly, spreading her even wider as he began to thrust, watching his cock slide in and out of her, already glistening from her juices. He changed the pace, rotating his hips as he thrust, making sure his piercing brushed every inch of her. He knew how much she loved it and he took full advantage of that, teasing her, driving her higher and higher until finally with a throaty cry, she came apart, her walls tightening around him, squeezing along the length of him in powerful waves.

Not ready to give himself over to his own release and determined to hold off coming as long as he could, he dropped his hands to either side of Sirene. The change in angle tilted her body up more and with his teeth clenched, he began to pound into her, driving her body higher up the bed. She raised her hands to the metal bars of the headboard, her back arching, which shoved her breasts up towards him, the nipples puckered with her arousal.
