“I gave you... everything...”

“Stop it,” Macy said.

She somehow found the strength to turn around.  She did it not to face Dan but to find out what the hell Derreck was doing.  He just stood there, behind his desk, waiting.

Waiting for what?

Macy had an evil man inches from her body, his fake smile but truthful eyes burning at her.

“You took the ring,” Dan said.

“That’s all it was,” Macy said.  “A ring.  I regretted taking it, but it didn’t come with a proposal.”

Dan growled.  Low enough that only Macy could hear.  It took her back again, to places where the same situation lived out.  Dan finding ways to hurt her in public without a single person knowing.  Giving her previews of what waited when they got home together.

“Help me,” Macy said, her eyes looking at Derreck.  “Please, Derreck...”

“No, no,” Dan said, “this is our business, Macy.  You took my ring and left.”

Macy shook her head.

“Okay, that’s enough,” Derreck finally spoke.  “Mr. Anderson, come back here.”

Dan put a hand out.  “Just wait.”

Macy gasped.

Derreck’s lip snarled.

“I don’t wait,” Derreck said.

“You deal with Macy, you’ll learn.”  Dan’s full attention was back to Macy.  “You at least owe me a reason, don’t you?  Some kind of truth.”

Macy shuddered, the fear pinching all her nerves.  She felt stings of pain from her feet to her ears.  She almost wished for Dan to hit her, just get it over with, like it used to be.  She could just close her eyes, wait it out, and go on with her life.

“Everything I gave you,” Dan said, “and now you show up here.  My dream interview.  And you’re going to fucking ruin it.”

The anger flared in Dan just as Derreck stepped behind him.  Derreck grabbed Dan’s arm and pulled.  As Dan twisted around, Macy saw him load up his fist, ready to swing.  Derreck reached down faster than Dan could throw a punch.  Derreck’s hand was much larger than Dan’s and he palmed his fist, tightening it enough to make Dan’s knuckles to pop.

“Is this about a ring?” Derreck asked.

“I gave a ring with a promise and the promise was broken,” Dan said, “how would you feel?”

“Good point.”

Derreck released his grip.  He walked back to his desk.  Macy felt dead and alone.  At his desk he opened the top drawer and to Macy’s surprise, he took out cash.

Cash.

Hundred dollar bills.

“How much?” Derreck asked.

“Excuse me?” Dan replied.  “What are you...”

“Mr. Anderson, I can see you have a hell of a temper.  I won’t deal with someone in my company like yourself.  You’re a loose canon, aren’t you?  And better yet... why are you interviewing with my company when your father is one of the top accountants and investors in the country?”

Dan’s face turned red.

“He kicked you out, I bet.  Cut you off.  Because you’re a baby.  Probably the kind of man who can face a woman but not a man.”

Macy felt the urge to smile.

“So, here’s the way to solve everyone’s problems,” Derreck continued.  “I’m going to give you the money for the ring and then you’re going to leave this building and this city.  I own most of the city and if I hear you’re still here, I’ll personally come and take this money back and make you disappear.”

“Are you threatening me?” Dan asked.

“Do you feel threatened?”

“Maybe I do,” Dan said.

“Well, that’s your opinion.  How much for the ring?”

“A thousand,” Dan said without hesitation.

“That’s it?  A beautiful woman like Macy is only worth a thousand dollar ring?”  Derreck shook his head.  He laid out ten one hundred dollar bills on his desk, then pointed to them.

When Dan reached for the money, Derreck clamped his hand on Dan’s wrist.  Dan cried out in pain.

“Don’t ever let me see you near Macy or myself.  Ever.”

Dan nodded, his face twisted in pain.

Derreck let his wrist go and Dan took the money.  That didn’t surprise Macy, that’s how Dan operated.  He would work his way in, get what he wanted, show his true colors, and cash out.  He’d be desperate and alone for a little bit then find a new adventure.

When Dan left the office, most of the tension was out of the room.  Then Macy turned her sights to Derreck.

“I’m sorry,” she said.  “I should have said something about...”

“Did he hurt you?” Derreck asked.

Macy nodded.

“Beyond his words?”

Macy closed her eyes and continued to nod.

“That’s why you’re hidden?”

“Among other things,” Macy said.

Derreck turned to face the large window.  His hands worked their way into his pockets.  The tension came right back into the office.  Macy stood, uncomfortable, unsure of her next move.

After a minute, Derreck said, “There’s a limo in the basement parking garage.  You can use my private elevator to get to it.  Get in the limo and go to my loft.  I need to think, Macy, for a little bit.”

Macy pushed from the bookshelf.  “Derreck, please, I need you to listen to me.  It’s not what you think...”

Derreck shook his head.  “I’m not interested in listening to you right now, Macy.   All I ever wanted was for you to be open.  To destroy your fears and make you understand how much I need you.  When I close my eyes all I can see is a curvy silhouette of yourself.  It’s burned in me.  But it’s always a silhouette because I’m wondering if I have ever seen you before.”

The words were honest yet cruel, slicing through Macy with a pain that took her breath away for a few seconds.

There was nothing left to say.

Macy turned and walked from Derreck’s office, never looking back.  She held hope in that she was going to his apartment.  There, she told herself, would be her last chance.

Her last chance to be open.

Her last chance to be honest.

Her last chance to show Derreck just what kind of woman she really was.

Macy just had to figure it out before he came home.

The allure of
the limo, the ride through the busy city with eyes looking at the long vehicle, wondering if a celebrity or movie star or high paid athlete sat in the back, along with the allure of the apartment building, and the loft itself meant nothing to Macy.  She floated through the motions, her eyes focusing on nothing, her mind focusing on everything.

She was escorted from the limo and into the building, even to the elevator and up to the loft apartment.  A man in a suit opened the door for her and assured that if she needed anything she could simply pick up the phone, dial *1, and ask.

The one thing Macy wanted, a phone couldn’t give her.  Nor could a man in a suit, a limo ride, or even money.  What she wanted was Derreck Hagan to be with her.  She wanted to explain what happened with Dan and she wanted to discover him.  For a man who spoke of hiding and coming forward, Macy still had plenty to learn about him.

It wouldn’t be fair for things to just end like this.

Even though she paced the large loft, inhaling the air, catching subtle hints of Derreck’s perfect scent, Macy’s stomach churned again and again.  All see could think about was Derreck finding another woman.  Someone who looked like Macy but didn’t have such fear and urge to hide from the world.

Macy opened the curtains on the back window of the loft.  Looking across the city, she felt as high as she did in Derreck’s office, able to see for miles upon miles.  It could have been twenty stories, maybe thirty.  The world hustled and bustled, everyone contained in their own lives.  Their own goals, dreams, loves, and hatred.

Somehow watching the traffic and the movement of the city calmed Macy.  It showed her that plenty existed right around her.  Maybe there could be life beyond Derreck Hagan.  It wouldn’t be the life she wanted, but then again, Macy hadn’t had the life she wanted even before meeting the sexy billionaire.  And that was the hardest part of everything.  Derreck didn’t just pleasure her with his mouth, fingers, and body... he liberated Macy.  Because of him she wore diamond encrusted heels.  Because of him she felt confident. Because of him she painted more.  Because of him she painted outside of her cramped closet.  Because of him... her sexual desires were on fire.  She felt like Derreck had barely licked the surface of her needs, and having him gone, or watching him go would just kill her.

Her body shivered.  She couldn’t picture another man touching her or
fucking her
like Derreck Hagan could.  Everything would be a giant step back, regressing to a past that had held Macy so tight.

Macy stood at the window and waited.  She would become lost to the outside world for as long as it would take.  Whatever Derreck had planned or intended, she would wait and endure.

When the door finally opened, Macy turned, her eyes and body relieved to see him standing there, looking strong, beautiful, but angry.  He slowly stepped forward, closing the door behind him, without force.  But that didn’t mean Macy wasn’t worried.  She honestly had no idea what to expect as Derreck walked through his loft, seeming as though he were casual, like this was all part of his daily routine.  Macy knew that there more people waiting to be interviewed, people who were looking for a job and Derreck looking for someone to help his company grow.  She had stepped in and messed it all up.

But Macy refused to blame herself for everything.

No way.

Derreck was the one who talked to her first.  Derreck was the one who commanded her to come back.  And Macy didn’t.  Macy was the one who never showed up.  And Derreck was the one who did.

He came to the gallery, with shoes and heels.

He pushed, along with Stacey, and that’s what led to...

This.

Derreck stood at a beautiful deep rich colored bar, a glass in one hand and a clear bottle in the other.  He twisted the top off the bottle and sniffed it.  He took a swig and then poured himself a drink, no ice.

“I won’t hide behind my drink,” he said, “not with ice.  I can drink like a man.”  He lifted the glass in the air.  “Cheers, Macy.  Cheers.”

“Derreck...”

“I’ve built all I could with my own hands.  My mind.  My indulging need to survive and succeed.  It was survival that put me in these shoes but it was success that allowed me to walk.  And so there I was, seeing someone as beautiful as you, seeing through it all, thinking I could do it all.”

“You can and did,” Macy confessed.  “You have no idea what you’ve done.”

“Why don’t you show me then,” Derreck said.  “You don’t think you’re hiding anymore?  Then show me.”

They were the words Macy wanted to hear.  Desperately wanted to hear.  Her chance, maybe her one chance - her last chance - and she took advantage of it.

Finding strength and lust somehow twisted deep inside her, Macy walked towards Derreck, her eyes focused on nothing but him.  He looked beautiful sipping his drink, looking hotter by the second.  If this was going to be their last encounter, Macy wanted to go out with an unforgettable memory.  Something that would linger.  Something she could remember... and taste.

At Derreck, her hands wasted no time as she cupped him, feeling his soft girth and length.  In a matter of a few seconds, he was hard, pressing against her hand, stretching the reach of his boxers and pants.  Her other hand pulled at his belt, then made fast work of the buckle on his pants and zipper.  Then she brought both hands up, going past his boxers, to his warm muscular skin.  Her fingertips felt the ripples of his stomach.  She started to move to his sides when Derreck shifted his body.

“Make your point,” he said with an annoyance in his voice.

It was like he didn’t want Macy to touch him.  A week ago that would have shattered her confidence into frail pieces.  But in that moment, it was erotic.  The more he wanted to push her away the more powerful Macy actually felt.

Her right hand turned and moved straight down, entering Derreck’s pants.  She continued down until she felt the root of his shaft.  She gripped him, tight, tugging gently but with purpose.  Her left hand gripped the top of his boxers and started to push.

“Macy...”

She refused it.

“Shut up, Derreck,” Macy said.

Her face instantly burned, being so harsh with Derreck.  There was a split second pause where she expected Derreck to scream, move away, or shove Macy away.

But he didn’t.

He simply took a deep breath, finished his drink with one big gulp and then rested against the bar.

He was all Macy’s.

She slowly moved to her knees, staring forward, watching her hand as she pulled his boxers and pants down.  She was given, by her own sensual action, a front row show as Derreck’s thickness came free from his boxers.  The more he appeared, the more her hand on the base of his erection started to slide up.  Once her hand was at the engorged tip of his sex, she slowly came back down, keeping a grip tight enough that it had to be somewhat painful for Derreck.
