Silence hung over them for several intense, breathtaking moments before Alaric spoke up.
“Yes, it’s real. There was one piece of information I kept out of those family journals. The Shasta Realm ruler told me that if Talon succeeded in finding true and lasting love, that not only would the vampire’s curse be cleansed, but the one who accepted the calling of the stone with loyalty and honor would be blessed with untold wealth.”
“Are you saying that I get to keep Talon and sell the artifact?” Kohl felt excitement well inside.
“Yes, indeed. Your love for him had to be flawless and true, more powerful than the lust for money or fame or anything that the human race places before love. Don’t you know, my friend, that love conquers all?” Alaric flashed him a smile and a wink. “I’m sure you can understand why I kept the secret guarded all this time. The wrong person could have sealed Talon’s fate into darkness. You brought this precious little shifter back into the light where he belongs.”
Talon snuggled against him, wrapping those sexy arms around his waist. “I have bound our souls together, my handsome mate. When your time on earth is finished, I will go with you into the spirit realm. I don’t ever want to be without you. We’ll be together for eternity.”
“I’m blown away…you are my immortal soul mate forever,” Kohl said in a gentle voice then gazed at Talon before placing a loving kiss on his lips. He gazed into the smoldering eyes that had captured his heart in that first dream. “I thought the day I found the amulet was my lucky day…but this is the luckiest day of all.”
