Never in
his two plus centuries has he ever felt this kind of wanting. Her lips were softer than her skin and when the tip of her tongue touched his he could actually feel his blood rush. He didn’t just want her, he willed it. Pulling back slowly and opening his eyes he saw Lilies were still closed. Her beauty beckoned for a return but he was afraid he would not be able to control his more animal instincts. But with all his power he suddenly became aware that he was powerless when she drew him back to her. Closing his eyes he kissed her again and felt her tongue immediately enter his mouth and he began exploring it. He defended himself by matching her eagerness with his own, to the point that if he continued wanting her more he was afraid he was going to hurt her. Pulling back he gently bit her bottom lip not wanting to let it go. This time her eyes were open and he could see her every intention and he soaked every bit of it in.

“Do you know I’ve been waiting my entire life to do that,” he said quietly still holding her in his arms.

“But we just met,” Lily said weakened.

“What do you think I’ve been waiting for,” he revealed and smiled.

To be told you’re the person they have been waiting for their entire life is a powerful thing. Looking into his eyes Lily could see the truth behind them. She couldn’t believe this extremely attractive, successful, kind and funny man had just told her she was everything he has been waiting for. Still in his arms Lily did not want this moment to end, she was pleasantly afraid that she was truly falling for him.

A cough rang out from behind Lily that almost caused Nathan to throw her through the wall as a reflex. Stopping himself at the last second he looked behind her and saw Martin standing in the hall politely announcing his presence. Pushing her to the side Lily awkwardly stepped backwards just as scarred as he was. Feeling like a teenager again who just got caught by her father Lily straightened her clothes and searched for something cool and natural to say.

“Hey Martin,” she came up with while still adjusting her clothes. “What’s going on?” she asked him trying to come across as if nothing in this area was going on. Especially nothing like the fact that she would of let Nathan taker her right then and there in the hallway was written all over her red blushed face.

“Just wanted to say, I hope you two have a good time,” Martin said looking at Lily raising his eyes that said – not too good. “And to remind you I will be at the hospital most of the night, or all of the night depending what nurse is working.” He paused and searched for something else to say. “So, yeah . . . I won’t be here,” he said starting to get uncomfortable. “Not saying you have to come back here and do anything.” He heard himself and he realized he was sounding like a father. “Or that you can’t.” Now he was over compensating. “I have to go,” he said walking past them.

Trying not to look Martin in the eyes Nathan coughed. “Give Todd my best, I’ll probably visit him tomorrow, but tell him, tell him I said hello,” he clumsily finished not wanting to start digging his own hole.

Martin suddenly remembered what Todd told him and turned to look at Nathan. He did
not want to, but he promised Todd that if he saw Nathan before he did, he would. “Todd told me about the book, it was a very nice gesture my friend, thank you,” he said but seemed to be getting nervous.

“No, not at all Martin, I was happy to.”

“What book?” Lily asked intrigued.

“It was nothing,” Nathan said trying to down play it.

“It was not nothing mi amigo,” Martin said turning to Lily. “He gave Todd a special book.”

“Oh,” Lily said wondering what a special book meant. “That’s nice.”

“Not just any book,” Martin said holding up his finger. “It was mis amores favorite book and a first edition.”

“Awe, how sweet,” Lily said smiling at Nathan.

Martin shook his head trying to explain it to Lily. “I looked it up because Todd kept going on and on how much this book meant. How much? $35,000 niña tonta,” Martin finished looking at Lily.

“What?” Lily exclaimed choking a little.

“I saw his face when he looked at it in the store,” Nathan said trying to explain. “He was looking at the fact is was by the author of his favorite book, the first batch that rolled off of the print and into the stores. He looked at it through the eyes of a child.” Nathan paused and smiled at Martin. “I wanted him to have it.”

Lily looked around the hallway. “Didn’t even bring me flowers,” she mumbled to herself.

“Well, he sees lots of things through the eyes and mind of a child,” Martin joked. “But thank you very, very much, the hospital, the book, I don’t know how we can ever repay you,” he said getting emotional and embarrassed.

Nathan just shook his head. “That’s what friends do,” he said genuinely.

Smiling at Nathan Martin was getting even more nervous. “This is from Todd,” he said and grabbed Nathan by the head, and planted as big of a kiss as instructed, right smack on his lips. He pulled back still holding Nathan’s head with a sympathetic smile on his face. “And this is from me,” he said tilting Nathan’s head back, planting his lips on Nathan’s once again. When he pulled back this time he let Nathan’s head go and stepped back hoping he wasn’t going to punch him. Nathan just stood in shock.

“Wow,” Lily said bringing a shade of red to both men’s cheeks.

Martin had given Nathan his kiss from Todd and one from himself and felt his job was done. He could go to the hospital and tell Todd in total honesty he thanked Nathan and kissed him, on the lips, just like Todd told him too. “Well, have a good night mis hijos,” Martin said giving them a small and quick wave. Trying to get past Nathan was not as easy, causing the two of them to do a little dance. Finally Martin faked Nathan and went left making it to the door, never feeling so relieved to be leaving his own home.

The door closed. Nathan wiped his mouth.

“That was pretty awkward,” Lilly said rocking back and forth.

“Yeah, nice . . . but yeah,” he said causing both of them to laugh. “You ready?”

“Yeah, one hundred percent,” Lily said then suddenly realized she wasn’t. “Wait,” she shouted holding her hands up in a stop and don’t move position. Nathan stopped and became even more still than he was.

“What’s wrong?” he whispered looking around.

“I just have to do something,” Lily said with her hands still extend.

He agreed that was enough. “Be waiting right here.”

“I’ll be right back,” she said and ran in baby steps so she wouldn’t work up a sweat.

Nathan laughed to himself as he waited for Lily to return. He just thought about how lucky he was moving back to Chicago when he did. He met Ms. Johnson who he adored, Todd and Martin were great and he seemed to like a lot of their friends as well. The people he kept bumping into at Sips over and over and even though the older ones liked to tell stories (some of which started to already repeat themselves) he enjoyed spending time with them. He loved how close his family was even though each day that went by was another day he would be reminded of not going out to see his Mother and Father. He really had to do that and soon he thought shaking his head. He loved how his store had come together minus the clean-up and repairs caused by Maggie. Then there was Lily, the most charming beautiful creature he had ever laid his eyes on.

Walking out of her bedroom she seemed to float towards him. She was glad he kissed her. It made her feel very sexy and confident. As Nathan watched Lily walk it radiated from her.

Nathan still could
not believe how amazing she looked. He smiled. “Are we ready now?” he asked not being able to hide the fact he was examining her every sway.

“I think so,” she said widening her eyes surprised by her courage. Stopping just short of pressing into him Lily could see his gaze and feel his breath as it ignited her groins like a furnace.

“Go ahead,” Nathan invited holding out his hand. Receiving hers he gently grasped them and drew her into him.

Standing for what seemed to be a very long time became overwhelming. “Well?” she cried. Then she felt his warm moist lips barely touching hers. But it was enough that she could taste him and it made her feel lightheaded. His fingers whispered down her cheek sending shivers up her spine. Not a breeze escaped his mouth but Lily could not show the same discipline. Her breath was heavy causing her chest to heave fully, revealing the roundness of her breasts. His free hand found its way to the small of her back again and gently brought her toward
s him causing their lips to beg to be melted together. Pressing her breasts against his chest Lily could actually hear his heart beating to the same rhythm as her own. Not letting a whisper escape his mouth he disciplined his lips just moments from hers, hinting at remerging, but every time she pressed forward it sent him reeling slightly away, driving her crazy. Running two fingers slowly down her cheek to her chin he gently pressed down to let her bottom lip open slightly, and then let his lip rest on top.

Finally
, she thought. Letting her thoughts release into the wild she welcomed the pressures from his lips as they penetrated over the threshold of hers.

Leaning back slightly allowing him the ability to talk whilst still biting gingerly
on her bottom lip he whispered, “We should get going.” Then he kissed her again.

Tilting her forehead forward slightly and separating their lips she felt it was her turn to try.
“Right,” she said running her hand up his back. Then running the other past the nape of his neck and into his hair she pushed him back into her mouth.

Obliging her for a moment he pulled back again. This time disconnecting their lips completely while holding her cheeks in the palm of his hands and staring into her eyes.
“Reservations,” he whispered roughly, but her eyes were too powerful and her lips too soft to resist. Drawing her lips toward him he kissed her harder and let her tongue work for his.

Pulling back slightly while biting his lower lip she toke a deep breath and exhaled letting the moment infect her entire body.  Her shoulder quivered as he lightly brushed them with his lips that started a chain reaction throughout her. “Reservations you say,” Lily said using her words to mask her sporadic wanton convulsions. Taking another deep breath she tried to let a bit of unwanted chastity come between them.

Considering himself an honorable man even if he did not want to be Nathan did not want her to think this was the only reason he was going on a date. He started to laugh and met her forehead with his. “Yes, reservations,” he said having fought off every want in his head.

“We don’t have to,” Lily surrendered deciding that playing hard to get was the least of things she wanted to play.

This was about to be the hardest thing he has ever done. “Do you like French?” he asked leaning back.

“Um, are we talking about food?”

They both started to laugh and he kissed her gently letting his lips feel hers once again. He didn’t want to stop but he did and smiled. “French food,” he said opening the door.

“I don’t know,” she said relieved he had the strength she did not.

“We can try the other later,” Nathan said clearing a way for her to put on her shoes.

She chuckled as she struggled getting her second shoe on. “Oh Yeah, should I be scared?”

“No, no,” Nathan assured her. “You might want to stretch beforehand,” he said then laughed.

“Oh my,
are we talking Olympic caliber?” she asked standing up with both shoes finally on.

He gazed into her eyes and smiled. “I am already having an amazing time.”

“Me too,” she agreed smiling back.

“Shall we,” he said leading her out the door.

“We shall.”

TWO: The Restaurant

Arriving at the restaurant they walked through the door and Lily felt like she walked through a portal. Not to another dimension but to another tax bracket compared to her moderate wages serving tea and coffee at Sips.

“Bienvenue monsieur,” the Maître d said calling out to Nathan and waving him closer.

Nathan led Lily to the podium and answered, “Bonjour.”

“Bonjour,” he said and nodded with a little pretentiousness.

Nathan ignored it and replied. “J’ai une réservation, Caesar.”

“Avez-vous appelé?” the Maître d asked if he called, testing his French.

“Mais oui,” Nathan confirmed. “J'ai passé beaucoup de temps en France,” he said assuring him he spent a lot of time in France and was more than capable. “J'aurais aimé être là maintenant,” he said wishing he was there right now.

“Moi aussi monsieur, moi aussi” the Maître d agreed suddenly finding a comrade. Putting his hand on his shoulder and lowering his head slightly in sympathy for their unfort
unate circumstances, and then he was back to business. Clapping his hands produced the hostess, seemingly out of nowhere. “La meilleure table disponible,” he said, instructing her to find the best available table. “Amusez-vous monsieur Caesar,” he said genuinely. Turning to Lily he offered the same genuine smile. “Madame,” he said directing her to follow the hostess.

Lily just smiled and nodded not wanting her English to ruin Nathan’s ground work. Leading them across the restaurant the hostess brought them to a
center table and held out her hand giving them an automatic smile. Not before she noticed the modelesque hostess giving Nathan a quick once, obviously pleased by the size of her flirtatious smile. Pulling the chair out for her Lily noticed his eyes had never left her. It made her feel as if she was the only one in his universe and she wanted to drown in them. “So,” she let drag out a bit with a hint of surprise. “French.”
