Jayn wanted to wallow in the adrenaline and euphoria but one question kept her from sleeping. What the hell had they just done?

Chapter Nine

Wick thought it was a dream. A wonderful fantasy provided by the loving Goddess. When he opened his eyes and felt the slight weight against his side, he knew last night had been a reality. Wick glanced over at Annalise. Her petite body hugged his side and she was completely nude. His cock instantly began to react. It was real. Sweet Goddess, last night was real!

He glanced to his right but Jayn’s side of the bed was empty. Where had she gone? Did she regret their encounter? He had no idea being inside of virgin would feel so amazing but when his cock entered Jayn, it felt just as magnificent. He knew then and there they were both his.

Two mates!

“Thank you, Goddess.” He’d say that every night for the rest of his life and it still wouldn’t be enough to express his gratitude. Wick finally got a chance to look over the petite Annalise. Her neck was pale. The pulse beneath steady. Her breasts were small with large nipples that made his mouth water. He shifted gently, guiding her to her back. Annalise didn’t stir. Wick grinned, his cock nudging her hip. Her stomach was flat. Wick slid his fingertips down her torso. Beneath was a hairless wonderland. Her pussy was bare, the little lips sticking out like petals of a flower. His hand drifted to her thigh and he tried to carefully part her legs. Almost. Maybe if he adjusted her knee. Wick watched her eyes as he spread her but she hadn’t made a single motion to indicate her awareness.

There.

Now he could see between her legs. He grinned, a single finger shifted so that it could rub along her bigger lip. Her chest rose higher and he glanced at her face as those beautiful eyes opened. She saw him, bit her lip, and her cheeks turned a pretty pink. “Hi,” she murmured, closing her legs.

“No, please. Leave them open.” He hadn’t been with a woman in a while and last night was so remarkable. “I love the sight of you naked.” He began to rub her thigh. Up and down, left then right.

“Last night...was wonderful.” She smiled and shifted so her face was buried in Wick’s chest.

“I am glad you enjoyed it.” He cupped her pussy, rubbing his palm against her. She wasn’t yet wet.

“Is it true?” she mumbled against his chest. “You have two mates. Both Jayn and me?”

He nodded, spreading her lips and feeling the moisture. His finger slid inside and her moan was ecstasy to his ears. “Yes. The Goddess had blessed us as three.”

“I did not see that coming. I’m so glad I don’t have to make up”—she gasped— “my mind.” Her legs fell open, and her lips parted as Wick inserted two fingers. Annalise glanced over at Wick. “Where is Jayn?” She stopped his motions by grabbing his wrist.

“When I woke the bed was void of her presence. Then I saw your beautiful body and I couldn’t resist.” He found her clit with his fingers.

“You don’t think...she left again?” Annalise asked but the concern was replaced with lust as Wick took a nipple into his mouth.

“I don’t believe so, but...I will dress and find her.” Wick leaned over and kissed Annalise’s cheek. “Stay put. No clothes!” He grinned wickedly before retrieving his loincloth. He tucked his erection away, taking once last glance at the nude Annalise, and went in search of his other mate.

With his wings dry he flew down the corridors of the palace. His cheer was unabashed and he called out for her. Jayn didn’t answer, but Carrick did.

“You look...happy,” he muttered with a raised brow. “Did Annalise choose you as her mate?”

Wick hugged Carrick. It was intimate and friendly while keeping his erection from touching. “I have two mates!” He practically screamed the words.

Carrick paused. “Two?”

“Two!” Wick let go of Carrick. “Two! My new favorite word.” He chuckled.

“Wick?”

He turned back to the king.

“We have a meeting later today with the new troll king.”

Wick nodded. “I will be there, sir.” Then he added, “Right after I fuck both my mates!” He yelled triumphantly then took off to find Jayn. Where was the gorgeous tease? He stepped from the palace. The sunrise was spreading warmth over the land. It was spring. He could smell it in the air. The grass was mostly green. The sunflowers were sturdy and bright. Wick caught sight of Jayn. Her muscular frame in a defensive stance. She was talking to the fairy Keyn who was fluttering nervously from foot to foot. This could be bad.

Keyn was notoriously hateful towards humans. It had improved since his human mate came into his life but Wick wanted to take no chances. He walked toward them quickly watching as Keyn opened his palm. Jayn dropped the necklace in his hand. Was that the gold fairy pendant they found with the bones in the leprechaun hole?

“Hello.” Keyn’s wings fluttered as he spoke to Wick. He had goose bumps forming on his arms as Wick approached.

“Everything okay?”

Keyn nodded, holding his closed fist with the necklace to his heart. “Thank you.” With that, he flew off.

Jayn had yet to look at him so Wick spoke first. “What was that about?”

“The necklace we found.” She was watching Keyn fly away. “It had his name engraved on it. He said it was taken from him when he was a child.”

Realization dawned. Those bones must have been the men that assaulted Keyn when he fell from the sky as a child. Wick wondered if the Goddess had sent the leprechaun to them to give Keyn closure as well as bring Jayn to his arms. The Goddess was said to be crafty. “Are you well?” He approached slowly, unsure of her emotional state.

“I’m”—she turned toward him—“confused and unsure. Where do we go from here? From last night?”

Wick leaned close, taking in the way her black shirt clung to her generous breasts. “From here, we find happiness. Together.”

“The three of us, huh?” She turned away, squinting at the sun. “I’m a lesbian, or at least I thought I was.”

“Ah, but I am not an ordinary man,” Wick said with a grin. “I’m a fairy.”

Jayn rolled her eyes but smiled.

“Come on. Annalise is all alone and naked waiting for us.”

“Well, with an invitation like that, who could resist? Don’t think you’re going to be the boss just because you’ve fucked me,” she added.

“I’d never dream of it.”

“Good.” Jayn punctuated the word with a slap to his ass.

“There are only one hundred trolls left in the cave. A good portion of them left. There was a conga line of them moving north,” Thame said. He had just come back from scouting and Wick watched him as he spoke. “There are about ten guarding the border and a group of ten just left the cave heading this way.”

“Have the women armed and set in the palace. I want them ready,” the king ordered. “We’re going to meet up at the ridge. I do not want to be far away in case this is an ambush. They will never again get a chance to harm our mates.”

Wick adjusted his balls and thick dick. He was still thinking of the two gorgeous mates he’d left. Their naked bodies had been overwhelming. He nearly forgot about this upcoming meet with the troll king until Thame woke them with a sharp rap to their door. Now he had to focus on pushing their creamy skin and wet folds from his mind. He had to think about defense, blood and war.

“Flance, did you speak with that leprechaun?”

Flance took his hand off his mate’s shoulder and stood. “I found him. He is willing to help. He has a few tricks up his sleeve that may just help keep the trolls numbers down.”

“Do you we really believe it’s just the twenty?” Thame added.

“And where are the rest hiding?” Mord said. “I have searched and found none, but I think the backup plan should stay in place.”

King Carrick took a breath. “This is it. Either we try for peace or this meeting goes bloody and then we crush the entire troll population. I’m done being the hunted.” He shoved the sword into the sheath around his waist. “Have daggers ready. I want Brielle near the door should one of us get injured. She’ll heal and then you get back into the fray.”

“If there even is a fight,” Mord said. “Though I don’t trust them.” He sighed. “This may very well be a trick.”

“Then they’ll be the ones that will get the surprise,” the king said, his voice hard. “Everyone get to the palace front. I’m going to give my little girl a kiss.” His serious expression lightened.

Wick wanted to do the same to Jayn and Annalise but knew they would only distract him. He set another knife at his ankle, stretched his wings, and flew from the balcony. The sky was a rainbow of colors as the fairy warriors moved as one. They watched the ground cautiously as they made their way to the top of the cliff. Wick couldn’t help but look back. The king was now out the window, heading for them with a determination in his eyes.

Thame pulled his sword free.

Wick glanced at the approaching shadows.
Right on time
. The trolls shuffled through the forest and stopped only feet from them. The one with the bright blue eyes stepped out from the others.

“I am king of the trollsss.” His hissed slightly.

Carrick landed. “And I am king of the fairies.” His hand was on the hilt of his sword. Tension filled the air like an approaching storm.

“There is much to discusss.”

“That there is,” Carrick said. His leg muscles were stiff and his back straight.

There was a warm breeze that slid across Wick’s skin. He tightened the hand on his sword hilt, doubt overruling hope.

“We want peacccce between ussss,” the troll king said. He took a step forward but kept his hands down with the dirty, deformed palms showing.

“We did not start this fight. Your kind did.”

“Yesss. And we want to ssstop it.” He shifted feet. “Too many livesss are lossst.”

The king was quiet a moment then he growled, “Why do I not believe you?” He squinted. “Your words are dripping with venom.”

The troll king smiled, revealing fangs, and a two-pronged tongue. “You have gotten sssmarter.” With a flick of his wrist, it happened.

Trolls swarmed.

Shadows morphed, growls filled the air, and the king pulled his sword free. “This. Is. War!”

Wick pulled his sword free, roaring at the enemy.
Let the battle begin.

Chapter Ten

Brook glanced at Bray who stood at the door with sword at the ready. Beside her stood Jayn with a sleek and shiny gun. The sword in her own hand shook slightly. She’d never been so nervous in her life. They had backups in place and there were a number of plans should one fail but nerves still twisted her stomach. She was torn between the safety of her child and her mate. Though Carrick could take care of himself and little Adara was defenseless. She took a deep breath.

A collection of roars sounded.

It was a lie. Brook shoved the palace door closed and rushed with the others to the glass room. This was it then. The war was in full swing. Brook ran into the room, hearing the door slam and glancing at Bray. “Everything’s locked. We have salt around every entrance and the leprechaun is out there in case any of the trolls get through that,” Brook said the words to comfort the women around her and maybe a little for herself. She moved to the bassinet, rubbing a thumb over her sleeping baby’s little hand.

“He’ll be okay,” Jayn spoke, holding Annalise’s hand and staring at the door.

Cameron, one of the mate’s brothers, was still unconscious. He was lying on the couch with Brielle by his side.

Abigail and Breena were standing by the doors, their hands filled with a bottle of salt and re-sharpened blades. Brook was proud. They all came together and did a good job planning this. They were ready for nearly anything.

Nearly.

The explosion went off. It was so loud Brook’s ears instantly begun to ring as the ground beneath her shook. She fell back against the glass, the window shattered, and she landed awkwardly on her side in the shards. A few slices nipped at her skin as she struggled to her knees. Everyone was in various states of chaos. Brook crawled over the glass, warm blood seeping from nicks and cuts as she made her way over to Adara. She had to be okay. She had to be okay!

Brook brought herself to her knees. Her hands were shaking as she pulled the blanket off. There, tucked into the softly padded bottom, laid her little girl. Adara cooed and reached up with both her hands. Her little fists balled and her long eyelashes fluttered. Brook gasped. She was unsteady and tearful as she gathered Princess Adara into her arms. “It’s okay.” She supported her head as she fumbled to her feet. “Bray? Jayn? Brielle?” She randomly called out names. Everyone responded. Despite the destruction, there were no major injuries. The explosion was meant to startle and shock, not kill.

“What the hell was that?” Jayn yelled angrily as she helped Annalise to her feet.

“They’re in the palace,” Bray said with a growl.

“But the others had to have heard that, right?” Annalise asked with a shiver.

Brook still heard that infuriating ring. She shook her head, hoping to dispel the annoyance. And at the same moment, the doors before her shook. Something slammed into them from the other side. The wood began to creak and groan.
