Since I have no intention of asking her a single question about her past I kiss her head wanting to kill anyone that ever touched her. I need to talk to her about the files but it can wait until tomorrow.

‘What is your name?’

I laugh. “Tom Moniz. I’ve been Geek since I started in the Club. I’m not sure anyone but HR knows my name. Now you.”

‘Marty Moniz. I kind of like the M&M name. They used to be my favorite splurge.’

“Definitely like the M&M. I can talk to Pres about changing Aubrey’s name. He can have it done in no time.”

‘You want to change her name?’

What the fuck? “Yeah. She should have our name.”

I feel her shaking and look down. She’s laughing. ‘It was just a question. I like how you get all pit bull about things.’

“Her name will be mine. She’ll grow up knowing I’m her father. She’ll have everything our other kids will. Every day she will know I want her right here with us.” She’ll never be alone again.

She’s laughing again. ‘Yep pit bull.’

I growl lifting her up. I don’t stop until we’re in the room then I show her what a pit bull is like doggie style.

Chapter Thirteen
Two weeks
Marty

Oh I like this, he moves and I freeze, it’s not a dream. “Take what you need babe.” His voice is thick and low sending a shiver down my back and my hips move all by themselves grinding onto his leg. I kiss whatever my head is on and open my eyes a little embarrassed. He’s smiling. “Never get tired of waking up to your smile or you draped across me. Love it babe.” My damn hips move again and it feels so damn good. I’m glad I don’t make noise because I’d be moaning all over the place. “What were you dreaming about?”

I don’t hesitate. ‘Your mouth.’

“Fuck I like that. My favorite position is my mouth on your pussy, my face dripping and your heels digging into my back.” Oh my God. Me too. I’m too busy grinding onto his leg to sign. That is so damn hot. I am so close then I’m up in the air. What the hell? “Have a better place for you to rub against. I won’t get the heels in my back, but I get everything else I want.” He growls and there’s the shiver again. I’m all for that. He moves me to so my legs are on either side of his stomach them pulls the pillows from behind him. Oh I like the way he thinks and rub into him. “Love you looking for it babe. He pulls me up and I rub against his mouth grabbing the headboard. I’m never leaving this spot right here, I think, and roll my hips getting his tongue right where I want it. His hands are all over me but when he plays with my nipples sparks fly and my body shakes with need. He does that thing with his tongue that always sends me off and I am. I grab the headboard and hold on. When my body relaxes he’s not under me but behind me. His hand slides to my nipple then down. “One more time babe. One more with my dick in you so I feel it.” He says against my ear. Anything he wants. I’ll do anything if he keeps his fingers right there. “So fuckin’ wet. I love you so fuckin’ wet and sweet.” He slides in and then slams me back on him. My hands brace on the wall and I push my ass back ready for the next one. He delivers it with a growl. I can’t think straight when he’s in me. My brain is looking for more and my body moves by itself. “That’s it babe take what you need.” His hand moves from my hip to my stomach and I come again losing myself in the feeling.

I shower with her–washing her up then me. She’s smiling and thanks me when I finish drying her. I’ve never done this before her and I can’t imagine not doing it. It’s the Neanderthal thing again. I kiss her lips and pat her ass feeling like I won. My phone breaks into my caveman moment.

It’s VP’s ring. “Yeah VP.”

“Get to Security for a meetin’ at nine.”

“I’ll be there,” I say, but he’s gone. I smile at the phone. It’s always the same with him he just doesn’t do chit chat.

I look at the clock and turn toward the closet. Marty is watching me. “Meeting at nine. Let’s take Half Pint for breakfast.” She smiles nodding then walks out to get my girl.

I shake my head. Fuckin’ Tiny is going to have a field day with me. I don’t even care. They’re mine and I’ll take the tampons for them.

At the Diner Aubrey runs into the kitchen to see Sam. He’s her new friend she tells us. He brought the kids lunch and made friends with her over hot dogs and mac and cheese. The kids love Sam and his daughter Becky.

I catch up to Half Pint as she’s standing on the side telling him all about her numbers. He’s smiling so I guess she’s not bothering him. “Two times two,” he says. I stop and watch her, she’s five, that’s a bit much for a five year old.

She rolls her eyes at him and I hold my laugh. “Four. That’s too easy.” What? She knew it. I lean against the wall.

“Five time six.”

“Thirty. Not the easy ones Sam,” she tells him like she’s bored with it.

“Nine times seven.” He laughs.

“Sixty-three.” She’s smiling and I’m floored. She learned sign language and times table in a fuckin’ day?

Sam stops and looks at her. “Alright smarty pants, twelve times twelve.”

“Hundred forty-four.”

He looks at me. “Whatever you’re doing don’t stop.”

I didn’t even know she could multiply. I haven’t done a thing. She flashes white light and I brace against the wall. Fuck! She giggles. “You love me Daddy.” I nod blinking and she runs launching herself at me. Jesus. I catch her and Sam laughs.

I walk to the table Marty is at. She asks after Sam. “He was quizzing Half Pint on her times tables.” She looks shocked. “She learned that yesterday too.” She looks from me to Aubrey.

‘Like two times two?’ She looks hopeful and I laugh.

“Like twelve times twelve.”

She looks at Aubrey again. ‘Oh.’ I know just how she feels.

Lana takes our order and brings coffee. I need the fuckin’ coffee and drink a cup down as she waits. She refills for me and I splash some cream in it. “So did you learn anything else yesterday Half Pint?”

“Just about colors, but I already knew them. Today I get ice cream. Brenda is bringing all the flavors so I can try them. They need to know my favorite so I can have it at the Cone on Friday.”

Marty laughs. ‘Friday ice creams are the best. It’s a good start to the weekend. What did you learn about colors?’ I’m glad she asked.

‘I learned about the hues and the way light filters showing the different colors that aren’t really so different. It’s not really about colors it’s the absence of light at different levels. What is your favorite ice cream Daddy?” I’m looking at this kid thinking we are so fucked.

Ice cream she’s asking about ice cream. “Coffee.”

She squishes her face up making me laugh. She’s still my little Half Pint. “Coffee is gross.”

‘You should wait and taste it before you don’t like it. It could surprise you and be your favorite,’ Marty tells her.

“Daddy’s coffee is gross. I tasted it.” Again with the scrunched face.

“I don’t put sugar in it. Ice cream has sugar and tastes different than my coffee. For a sweet treat I always pick coffee ice cream because it’s sweet.”

She’s thinking about that while we get our food. Eating with a kid is funny. She’s not eating like an animal anymore, but she’s a mess. Her fingers still end up on some part of her food then her face.

Marty washes her while I sign for our breakfast. We get Marty to work then I take Half Pint to school. She’s talking the whole way. Brenda meets us at the door. “How’s your day so far Aubrey?”

She gets the run down on the morning and wants to try coffee ice cream because it’s sweet. I laugh and motion for Brenda to follow me out. It takes her a minute to make it out the door. “She learned sign language and times tables. In a day Brenda.”

She’s got the biggest smile on her face. “It is awesome. Jeremy has been in everyday to work with her. You need to get her into martial arts he said. She needs to learn to defend herself.” I nod.

“Jeremy has been in everyday?”

“Yes. At first I didn’t get it either. He passed everything and usually only comes in a day or two a week. CJ thinks it’s good to keep him in with the kids but this week he’s been in every day. He sits with her and they just look at each other. The other kids don’t go near them when they are like that it’s weird. I should say weird even for them. He treats her like a little princess. It’s really cute.” She looks in the door. “I need to get back.”

I nod and do a time check. There’s no set time for the kid’s school now. Two teachers are on two different shifts so the kids can work and still make school. They’re all good about it and follow their individual plans without complaint. I wonder where this leaves Aubrey. They were doing an assessment this week and I wonder if they will be able to get it done with Jeremy coming in.

I watch her from the door. Colt and Devan walk her to her seat. Colt sits by her and Devan a seat away. I wonder what that’s about but only for a minute because I need to get to Security. As I’m leaving Cloud is dropping Jeremy and Christian off. That’s the open seat. Are Devan and Colt going to be Security? I shake my head to clear it and make a note to watch the school feed today. I switch the truck for my bike and make my meeting on time.

Pres, Little Ben and Jessie come in looking tired. All Security heads and HS elite teams are here. VP looks pissed, I think and he looks right at me and nods. Fuck. This can’t be good.

“Christian sees shit coming and we need to be prepared. Tess tells me it all works out but isn’t giving details. I don’t know if she sees a different outcome if I get the details or what but it works out. Again, we are tied into the Baxters with this one. With so much tying us to them lately I think our troubles lie with the same people on their watch list. We know trafficking is tied to DC but can’t get a fuckin’ lead there.”

“It’s some of the same,” VP says.

Pres nods. “Right now what we know is Baxters will be coming at us for Family Security.” Everyone has something to say about that. They don’t trust anyone with Mitch. They even bring her Security into the building when she’s here. Pres holds his hand up and everyone shuts up. “I’ll tell you everything I know and why I decided the way I did if you shut the fuck up and listen to the whole thing.” He looks around. Fuck he’s pissed. He doesn’t explain his decisions to us and I know that alone pisses him off.

“Christian came to Little Ben with a vision. He puts the Baxters losing Mitch and Carolina. They are taken from a hotel where their Family Security head turns.” He puts his hand up. Max would not turn. “Max stepped down, Micah is heading Family. VP always thought something was off with him but never got he would turn. Christian is more graphic with this vision and it gets bad. When we met to plan VP, Jessie, Tiny and Darren did not agree with my plan but Tess says it works out.” He gives us a minute to take that in.

“We gear up for handling Family Security for the Baxters. Get your people ready. Do not let anyone know why we’re gearing up just do it. Geek, find a way to get me feeds everywhere that’s missing them by next week. Trafficking is back burnered until this is settled. Tiny, start looking at the Brothers to step into Security. Don’t move them just know who’s ready when the time comes. Jessie, get me a list of who are possible moves to Family and HS. Bob, get your schedule settled so when this hits you can add the Brothers without losing coverage on ours.”

He looks around. “Any questions?”

“Are we telling the Baxters?” Bob asks.

“No.” Pres says with his hand in his hair. This is the problem.

“This is why VP has a problem with the plan? We’re not telling them?” Danny looks at VP.

“Yes,” Pres says. I don’t remember a time when they were at odds like this.

Danny looks at Little Ben. “You know why Pres isn’t sharing and this is why you agree with him?”

Little Ben shakes his head no. “I know why I wouldn’t tell them. I haven’t had a fuckin’ free minute to talk to anyone about this.”

Danny nods. “I’m behind you Pres.” It looks like the world was lifted off his shoulders and he throw Danny chin. I agree so I throw Pres chin. He gives it back.

“Why the fuck would you not tell them? This is Mitch. It’s like someone taking Tess!” Tiny booms and everyone looks at him.

Danny looks his way smiling. “Because Tess says it works. She hasn’t been wrong yet and you fuckin’ know it. If she said Mitch still gets taken then I’d want them to know. It works. That means whatever Pres does keeps people safe.”

“They have a right to know,” Jessie says.

Little Ben’s jaw clenches and he stands up. “Fuckin’ Brothers you’re pushing him into a corner he doesn’t deserve to be in. When the fuck has he been wrong that you feel the need or even the right to question his decisions! My President doesn’t and shouldn’t have to explain himself to you or me. I’ll tell you why I wouldn’t tell them. There’s a five year old girl that was chained to a fuckin’ bed for three years and sold to the highest bidder because a Brother fucked with the vision. Tess says it works. You want to start playing God then I hope to fuck it isn’t one of your kids whose life is fucked because of it. Put it into fuckin’ perspective and stop questioning the one that got us to here!”

“Well said LB,” Danny says. Pres throws Little Ben chin and looks at us.

“Meant no disrespect Pres. Mitch has my protection. Didn’t see past that,” VP says throwing him chin.

Jessie says, “What he said. Pres, Little Ben.”

“Fuck me too. No disrespect Pres,” Tiny says.

Pres asks, “Anything going on I need to know about?”

“Yeah Pres. Jeremy’s been at the school every day. He’s working with Aubrey. She came home yesterday and knew sign language. Three hundred and eight words and the alphabet. She also knows her times tables and something about color hues and fracturing light.”

“Holy fuck,” Bob says.

Pres has his hands in his hair. “Does Cloud know?”

“He dropped him at the school when I was on my way here. It looks like Colt and Devan are watching over her until Jeremy gets there. They walked her to her seat but left a chair open for him.”

He looks at Little Ben. “Do you know what’s happening there?” Little Ben shakes his head no. Pres smiles, “But you will.” He gets a nod and looks back at me. “We’ll find out what we can and figure out a way to ease her through this and maybe even some answers for you and Marty.” Everyone laughs.

I want to ask about Jeremy at the Baxters but this isn’t the place. VP answers it for me. “Stay. He needs to know and plan for it.” I nod and wait while everyone but Danny and Little Ben files out.
