In Japan, the blame for bad gas falls on the consumption of potatoes rather than beans. Namely, sweet potatoes. They are said to give one’s gut a particularly good carbonating.
But farting feels good—and if it’s good to you, it’s good for you, as the old Japanese proverb says:
One fart is worth a thousand doses of medicine.
he hitotsu wa kusuri senpuku ni mukau.
Snot / boogers / etc.
hanamizu / hanakuso / sonota
Perhaps you noticed that the Japanese word for “booger” (hanakuso
) is just a compound of the word for “nose” and the word for “shit.” Put them together, and you got “noseshit.” Likewise, the words for “earwax” and “eyegunk” (also introduced in this section) are compound words for “earshit” and “eyeshit” respectively.
Hey, stop picking your nose.
