Nikoli must have felt the urgency in my touch
and kisses because he too seemed to become more urgent with his
need. Our hands roamed over each others bodies. I pulled at his
button until he removed it all allowed me to explore his chest.

He was so smooth and powerful. I could feel
his hard supple muscles just under his skin. I wanted more. I
started to slide my hands down his flat tight stomach. With each
stoke of my hands on his flesh my need grew. I was burning with
desire. I wanted more, I wanted all of him.

I felt him tugging at the tee-shirt I was
wearing. A small part of me hesitated since I knew all that I had
on under the tee was my panties. He broke our kiss and looked into
my eyes. I knew he was asking without words if this is what I
really wanted.

I did. I really did, so I grabbed the bottom
of the tee and pulled it over my head. I watched his eyes haze
slightly and I could literally feel his desire for me come off him
in waves. His lips moved to my breast while his hands sought out my
tender flesh beneath my panties.

My body was on fire, every move his hand and
mouth made sent wave after wave of pleasure shooting through my
body. I was becoming frantic with need. I wanted and needed more. I
wasn’t even sure exactly what that more was but I wanted it.

I started moaning loudly and grinding myself
against his hand and mouth. I was so close and just needed him to
get a little closer to me. I felt him adjust us and watched as he
started to remove his pants.

I found myself holding my breath as his pants
slid over his slender hips and dropped to the floor. I found my
eyes admiring his thick thighs and round supple buns. Then I felt
his desire for me hard and real resting against my leg. I reached
out to draw him closer to me again.

He pulled farther away from me instead of
getting closer. I reached out and tugged at him be I couldn’t get
him to move. I looked into his eyes and saw a soul shattering pain
reflected back at me. That’s when I realized something very
important was missing. Something that we needed in order to be
complete, something was preventing us from getting any closer. I
reached out to him with all that I was, my heart, body and soul but
instead of feeling him touch me back I watched as his face turned
to a look of pure soul shattering pain.

I awoke from the dream with a scream lodged
deep in my throat. My heart hurt and my soul felt shattered.
Somehow, I knew that Nikoli could never give me what I needed. His
soul wouldn’t answer mine and I couldn’t be complete until it did.
I looked around the room and realized that I must have fallen
asleep on the couch waiting for Lucas and Nikoli to come back.

I felt so alone and needed desperately for
someone to hold me and tell me that everything would be okay. I
called up to my mother and hoped that she would come down and
cuddle me on the couch. I wanted to cry and I wasn’t even sure
exactly why. It was like something deep inside of me was missing
and I somehow knew I was never going to get it.

I felt tears start to slide down my face. I
hollered again for my mom. She came down the steps and immediately
wrapped me in her arms.

“Oh baby what’s wrong?” She asked while
holding me as tight as she could in her arms.

I didn’t have the words to tell her so I
lied

“I’m just worried about Lucas and Nikoli”

I felt ashamed for lying but truthfully I
didn’t know how to explain it to her. She pulled back just a bit
and said, if you are so afraid, why not astral plain and see for
yourself what is going on. I actually thought that was a good idea.
If nothing else it would distract me and maybe this feeling would
go away. I concentrated and lifted easily out of my body. I looked
down at myself and smiled at my mom still holding onto my empty
body.

I willed myself to be at Nikoli side. It took
just a few moments before I snapped to Nikoli’s side. I looked left
and right and realized that I was in a bedroom I think in Nikoli’s
house. There was another vampire in the room with him and someone
was lying in the bed.

The white haired vampire made a t’sking sound
then leaned over the person in the bed. I watched as he ripped his
own wrist open and started dripping blood onto the person in the
bed. I moved closer to the bed and looked down.

It took a moment for my mind to understand
what my eyes were seeing. It was Lucas lying in the bed. For a
brief moment I actually thought he was dead. His throat looked like
it had been torn open the rest of his body didn’t look like it was
in much better shape.

I gasped in horror then I saw his chest
barely move. I rushed to his side and tried desperately to touch
him. Every time I tried my hand passed through him like I was a
ghost. I cried out my frustration and Nikoli rushed to my side. I
pushed him away from me and said

“Why Lucas? Why is he lying here almost
dead?” Then I again tried to touch Lucas. Tears were running down
my face.

I realized that I needed to bring my body
here with me if I wanted to touch him. I turned towards Nikoli and
demanded to know if we were at his house. The moment he nodded that
we were, I will myself back into my body.

The moment I snapped back into my body I told
my mother that Lucas was severely injured and ran from the pack
house towards Nikoli’s. I knew my mother had shifted and was
somewhere behind me. My wolf was howling within me and trying her
best to burst out of my skin. I forced her to stay back. I told her
that we were faster running as humans than running as a wolf. She
accepted that since her main concern was reaching her mate as soon
as possible.

In this, my wolf and I were on the same page.
Seeing Lucas in such bad shape had shaken me up. I realized that it
wasn’t just my wolf that has very strong feeling for Lucas. I
didn’t want anything to happen to him. I think I might even be
falling in love with him.

I got to Nikoli’s house in record time. I
rushed through the door shouting for Nikoli as I headed up the
steps. He was standing in front of a door.

“Is he in there?” I demanded. He said
simply

“yes”

Then he moved aside so that I could enter the
room. I noticed the other vampire was still standing beside the bed
next to Lucas. I found myself growling at him then pushing my body
between his and Lucas’s.

I think I heard the vampire laugh but paid
him no head. I noticed that Nikoli hadn’t followed me into the room
so I mentally contacted him and asked if he thought Lucas would
live. Nikoli responded that he wasn’t sure.

That wasn’t the answer that I had hoped to
hear. I heard the other vampire leave the room as I reached out to
touch my mate. I felt hot tears slip from my eyes and my lips
quivered. I started to speak out loud.

“Dear God, please let Lucas be okay. I am so
sorry that I haven’t been a good mate. God, Lucas I love you so
much. Please come back to me and don’t die. Oh god, I promise if
you save him I will never do anything to displease you again.
Please, please I need him.”

I continued to babble on and on about loving
him, and needing him and how I would never again leave his side if
only he would be okay.

Chapter 33
(Kenyan’s POV)

I was pretty pleased with myself that I had
decided to stick around Nikoli’s home. Things around here were
anything but boring. In fact, I would say it was pretty darn
interesting. The best part was that all hell has broken loose no
less than three times and gauging the emotions in the air, I think
we are about ready for the forth.

I chuckled quietly to myself as I looked
around the room at the thirty or so wolves that had decided to stay
inside the house to keep an eye on me. No doubt the shewolfs mate
had put them up to this. The more I thought about last night, the
broader my smile became. The bigger my smile, the more tension I
could feel pouring off the wolves.

I grabbed my cell out of my pocket and dialed
my daughter’s number. I knew she most likely wouldn’t answer and
had probably still not set up her voice mail, but she would
eventually notice the missed call and phone me back later
today.

I was shocked when she actually answered. I
let her know that I was extending my stay, and decided to tell her
about some of what was going on in the hopes that it would intrigue
her enough to join me.

“Ena, you would not believe what I stepped
into here. It is amazing. There is a vampire wolf hybrid living
here. Her name is Kalli. She was born from a wolf mother and father
and altered by a doctor to be part vampire. Her doctor had injected
her mom with Nikoli’s blood while Kalli was still in the womb.

If I had to guess I would say that’s why she
is his beloved. At first I thought he was mistaken, but I have dug
around inside of him and her enough to know it’s a real soul match
though. It must be a forced union something to do with his blood
prior to birth since we all know that nature wouldn’t pair a wolf
and vampire. “

I paused thinking though all the implications
yet again. What if I could inject my blood into a wolf that was
pregnant could I make myself another beloved? I wonder would what
have happened if it had been someone elses' blood not Nikoli’s?
Could we all have a second chance at a beloved? Is it worth it if
we can’t blood them? Is a hybrids blood even poisonous? Could we do
it with a human instead of wolf? I definitely had many more
questions than answers. The only thing I was positive of what that
Kalli couldn’t possibly be Nikoli’s natural beloved. I voiced some
of the more valid questions to Ena then continued.

“Kalli is a freak in more than one way. We
found out last night that she can only consume wolf blood. I forced
her to feed from a human donor last night and it did not go well.
In fact she became very ill; Nikoli was a bit dramatic and thought
we were going to lose her.”

I chuckled and found myself thinking about
the incident. It was the second of several chaotic events that
occurred last night. Nikoli and I had been sitting downstairs in
the living room when he mentioned to me that he could feel his
beloved was starving. We had some discussion about her feeding
schedule and he told me that she’d been feeding from wolves her
entire life. That bit of information got me very excited and I had
to wonder what would happen if she drank fresh human blood.

I could care less if the hybrid was healthy
or not, but couldn’t help myself from suggestion that he bring up a
donor and have her feed. I put a little something extra in my
suggestion and Nikoli found himself heading upstairs with a donor
in hand. Initially, the little hybrid had refused to eat claiming
that she didn’t want to leave her wolf mates side long enough to
feed.

When Nikoli continued to insist that she
feed, she changed her tune and instead claimed that she didn’t find
the donor acceptable. By that point in time I could no longer
contain my own curiosity so I invaded her mind and took control. I
accepted on her behalf and then I helped her to plunge her fangs
into the beautiful curvy brunette that belonged to Nikoli.

The moment the blood started to run through
her system my curiosity was answered. I could tell her system was
going to reject the blood. Not that it was poisonous but more like
when we eat blood tainted with disease. It just doesn’t go down
well, and fails to provide the nutrition we need. Despite that I
could tell the hybrid was getting ill from the human blood I
continued to force her to feed until Nikoli caught on and tried to
stop me.

I think he expected to enjoy the feeding so
when he found himself coughing and grabbing at this throat like it
burned I think a light bulb went off in his head and he realized
that his little hybrid wasn’t controlling her own mind.

Nikoli turned and attacked me physically. I
knew that I could easily defend myself so I refused to fight back
and continued to force the hybrid to feed. I started to see blood
leaking from her ears and eyes and decided that I knew enough and
let go of her mind.

The moment I turned her mind loose the real
fun started. The little hellion attacked me along side of her
beloved. The two of them came at me continuously wave after wave
both physically and mentally. I can’t believe it but the hybrid
actually blasted me with psionic inundation. It hadn’t had the full
effect she had hoped for but it sure as hell did hurt.

Anyhow, our dallying around with each other
drew the attention of the wolves downstairs and we had a bunch of
them charging up the steps at us ready to attack. That’s when I’d
first seen the omega shewolf. She was absolutely gorgeous, hands
down the most beautiful wolf I had every laid my eyes on. Not only
was she spectacular to look at she was also intelligent. She took
in the situation, and had been smart enough to put two and two
together. She realized what was going on and got the wolves calmed
down enough to head back outside.

The shapely shewolf was the source of the
third major event we had last night. Shortly after the episode
upstairs, I astral projected myself to take a better look at the
little omega shewolf Lauren. She was the spitting image of my
dearly beloved, who had left me more than a thousand years ago. I’d
floated around outside for a while before finally finding her
snuggled with one of the damn alpha’s and another shewolf.

I mentally engaged with her and had her leave
their side and join me in the woods. I returned to my body, and
quickly joined her in the woods. I hadn’t intended to go very far,
but it had been far too long since I had enjoyed the physical
company of a beautiful female.

Her skin was so soft, her breasts were full
and supple her scent was just alluring enough to push me into
desiring her physically. She rejected my touch initially, but I
pushed past her defenses and had turned her into putty in my hands.
It took no time at all to get her body ready to receive mine. In
fact I had her naked lying on her back with her legs propped open
when the damn wolves descended upon us.
