Tosh still fought him whenever she had a chance and traded a good hard spanking for a trip to the elaborate laundry room behind the kitchen. With counter space, a professional grade pants press and hanging steamers, she didn’t see how anyone could resist to breaking it in, but he threatened that he would break her in it if she didn’t let Stephanie do her job.

Break her.

That never sounded like a threat to her, but a wickedly, delightful invitation, and Tosh found it hard to resist, but so far he hadn’t taken notice that in his surveillance she had been breaking his rules while he was away at the office. Contemplating a line of attack while he was out of town, Tosh thought to herself over and over again what she could do to subtly tell him what she had been up to while he was away.

For now she had to hurry if she was going to change her clothes and try to find a job in the next four hours.

Chapter 11

Clinking and mumbling rang around the room, while people congregated on over-stuffed couches and ridged bistro table sets. Aromatic clouds of coffee floated in puffs of milky steam rising up from behind the glass top counter, but none of it could compare to her single-cup coffee-press she enjoyed that morning, and she’d never expected to find his java magic in a coffee bar. Being the last circled item on her want ad’s printout and her time growing short, Tosh was desperate.

“What can I get’cha?” A curvy bundle of energy popped up from behind the counter.

Her blonde hair had brown roots and was styled in what she could only describe as crazy hair with bits of it pinned up here and there. She had thick black eye liner and little else in way of makeup beyond her matching black nail polish, and her clothes had a natural aesthetic, hugging her healthy curves in a mid-drift tank top and hip-hugging camouflage green pants.

“Everything you could think of is up on the board, but if you ask me for one of those half-caff low fat yuppie crap, I might be tempted to spit in it.” Her pursed lips and arched brow framed her cocky expression, and Tosh was stunned for a moment, afraid to ask if she was serious. “Ha! I’m just jerking you." The coffee bar muse laughed, disassembling the espresso machine, and began to load a small metal cup with finely ground coffee grounds. Tosh recognized it all from Richard’s apartment, but she had never had the courage to ask him to teach her his master ways of the java. Now she thought that her hesitance might have been a mistake.

Folding up the 8x11 sheet of paper, Tosh reached for her purse still hanging over one shoulder to stow the print out before she embarrassed herself. This was not the place for her. Yes, it was very Bohemian and attached to a book shop/local art gallery, but she was afraid this would be too bold for her personality.

You applied to be a submissive house maid for a dom.
She reminded herself, surprised by the uncontrollable laugh that escaped her lips.

Biting her bottom lip, the young woman gave a couple clicks from the side of her mouth to wake Tosh up, returning Tosh to her current dilemma. Time was getting short, and she was going to need to make a decision soon, as to stay and apply or leave for home, before Richard’s plane landed.

Taking a deep breath of confidence, Tosh pushed aside her fears and chose instead to be practical. Time was off the essence, and she saw no problem in finishing her list of prospective jobs. This took a great deal of humility, but after all, she had once used a nail buffer on her previous employer’s bathroom floor. Placing the creased paper on the glass top counter, Tosh prayed that the woman would recognize the internet ad before she had to ask and luck was on her side.

“I’d never picked you as a java-jockey.” Looking Tosh over from head to toe, she cracked a playful grin.

“I…um…” Tosh had lost all hope of speech.

“Wait here a minute,” the bohemian java wench instructed her.

Slowly letting air reenter her lungs, Tosh took a moment to look around. Smooth jazz played from the hidden speakers over the coffee bar. Textured with gobs of plaster and painted over in antique details the walls had the illusion of having lasted the over powering eruption of Vesuvius. Copper and metallic tiles made up a mosaic placard with the coffee bar’s name, drawing on a bit of ancient Greek influence. With ionic columns surrounding the barista station in the center of the room, Tosh was lost as to what their themed approach had been. The aesthetic feel of the place was ancient Roman meets ancient Greece with a Southern California cool vibe. In other words, they were all over the place in who they thought they were and just settled for cool.

Smiling to herself, Tosh imagined what her art professors at the university would have said about this place and their decorative choices.

“True art has no rules beyond honesty in its work and the artist who creates it.”

Professor MacCloud would have either given the designer of this place a high pass or had them drummed out of the school. She knew if she had ever tried anything like this she would have failed. Still, she had to appreciate the effort they had made to create something artistic and unique while providing a comfortable atmosphere for customers of the bookstore to relax in with their purchases. She did imagine that anyone who purchased any of the local works of art from the gallery upstairs would spend their time down here with their investments. This was the kind of place she imagined would have a wine and cheese reception one day while hosting her own art opening.

Too bad that for now she would only be a ‘Java Jockey’…if she got the job.

“Um.” A gangly man in his early twenties, dressed in a faux baseball jersey and tan corduroy pants, stood hunched over at the cash register. His thick black hair was in a mop top fashion and hung over his eyes that she figured were probably blood shot from too much partying the night before. “Jude will be back soon. Can I get you something?”

“No thank you.” Ashamed that she could hardly afford gas money to get back home, Tosh wished she could sit back with a chocolate covered Madeline cookie and a cup of mint tea, but she was here to earn money not spend it.

He had the laid-back surfer slang accent and a slim, no muscle, no fat build of one who would skip morning lectures at the City College for an early morning riding the waves. Moments like this Tosh felt warm with pride for the relaxed freedom of surfers in her native California, but she couldn’t help but fear what visitors from out-of-state must think when they came in here for a yuppie cup of Italian-ripoff coffee. Did they enjoy the signature sunny weather and relaxed feeling of the establishment or did they leave, praying that their youth would never turn out in our crazy liberal state?

“Let’s take a seat.” Jude flipped her blonde and black collage of hair over her shoulder and pointed to a love seat tucked in a corner.

Iron filigree made up the straight back of the loveseat and despite the softness of the seat, Tosh feared she might have a concussion after hitting her head on the wall behind her when she had expected a loveseat backing. Shaking off her nervousness, she tried to find her inner confidence that Richard had helped her discover, but she was coming up short.

“So, here is an application, and you can fill it out now if you like while I ask you some questions.” The bohemian java jockey was official and professional all of a sudden, despite her appearance, and Tosh was taken aback by her failure to not read a book by its cover.

“Why do you want to work in the world of gourmet coffee?”

It was not much of a question to start with and neither were the other five that followed. Tosh was honest about her need for a job, and how she was in school to finish her BFA in art. Jude seemed to take to her quickly and it all seemed to go smoothly until Tosh told her about the hours she could work.

“We would need something more flexible.” Chewing her bottom lip, Jude had the expression that the interview was over. Tosh reached down to pick up her purse and, realizing that she was expected home soon, she readied herself to leave. “But I think we can work things out.” Giving Tosh a big smile, Jude offered her hand, which Tosh shook with enthusiasm.

“Oh, thank you, thank you,” she repeated and Jude began to giggle.

“We’ll start you off on Mondays and Wednesday from ten am to four pm and see where we go from there.” Once Tosh released her hand, Jude picked up the application and stood up to give Tosh a proper welcome to the coffee world and farewell.

Stepping out on to the busy sidewalk, Tosh felt a wave of pride she didn’t feel the day she was hired at Odyssey. Perhaps it was because she always had an inkling of what she had been hired for, but this time she was officially entering the work force and soon she would be able to afford the basic necessities of life. Driving away in the city traffic, she prayed she would arrive before his call and suddenly realized she hadn’t cleaned up from her breakfast yet, and he would know something was up. There was still the constant fear that despite their living arrangements, it was all very temporary and living in someone’s home without the current ability to pay rent never allowed her the comfort of taking any ownership there. One day Richard would grow tired of her and where would she be then? Tosh needed to get her life back on track and only then would she be able to have confidence in her future and hopefully she would gain some respect from the man she was quickly falling in love with.

The doors to the elevator had never taken so long to open, but at last she was free. Pushing the glass doors open, Tosh rushed in, tossed her keys onto a side table, and dropped her purse on the floor. The clock was ticking, and she had only a couple of minutes left provided his plane didn’t arrive early.

Running into her bedroom, Tosh stripped down to her bra and new underwear and splashed some cool water on her face. Smoothing down renegade wisps curling around her face with her wet fingers, she tried to give herself that well pampered look he enjoyed so much. Beating like mad in her chest, Tosh was afraid her panicked pulse would give her away, but looking in the mirror everything was as it should be and in the end all she could do was tell him the truth. Why wouldn’t he be pleased with her responsible choices?

Giving herself a last minute once-over in the mirror, Tosh was pleased to see how the large briefs hugged her rear with perfection, making her playful behind look like a truly sinful curvy butt.

“You have a lot to answer for, postulant.” He voice bore down on her from and above, and Tosh knew in that instant that she had been found out.

She was devastated that she wasn’t going to have the opportunity to tell him about her new job over dinner as she had been dreaming of. So much for the movie in her mind.

“Your text is late, and I couldn’t wait any longer.” He sounded firm and controlled. Tosh knew her secret was still safe. With any luck, she would have her phone reactivated with her first pay check without him ever knowing the humiliating fact that she was flat broke.

“I‘m sorry, Master.” Lowering her head with a half-smile, she proceeded to walk to his room as he had instructed her to do that morning.

Walking into his den of sin, Tosh kneeled before the camera hanging from the ceiling. Sitting back on her feet, she spread her knees to give him a clear view of his gift while she kept her head down and placed her hands behind her back, holding her elbows and pulling her shoulders back to present her bosom. He had taken a couple days to instruct her how to properly present herself to him when instructed, and despite the humiliation the first couple of times, she had learned quickly to enjoy the pose, feeling her own feminine strength grow with her flaming desire for her master.

In the beginning, the title Master had felt a bit medieval to Tosh, but soon it transformed in her as a loving endearment. Only once when they had made love, he was Richard and she was simply Tosh. It was a night she would never forget, but there was an addictive thrill in what he offered her.

“I tried to call you, but—” She could hear the concern in his voice.

“It’s broken.” Sitting up, she interrupted him in a panic and quickly took her position again, hoping he would overlook her break in discipline. “I dropped it this morning in the bathroom and took it to the store while you were in the air. They said it would take a couple of days.” Lying can get easier and easier with everyone, and Tosh hoped she had bought herself a few days, but she might have to pay deeply for her cover-up.

His silence was maddening for her.

“I’m sorry,” she added, but still he said nothing. “Luckily, it’s fixable…”

“You needed a new one anyway.” Breaking his silence, his voice sounded calculating, and Tosh feared her untruths weren’t convincing enough. “I’ll ask Thomas to take you shopping for one tomorrow. I’m just sorry I can’t be there to do it, but I have a feeling this is going to be a long couple of days.”

Stressing over how she was going to handle this, Tosh kept her head low and strained to maintain her position. Every muscle was throbbing, but she held firm and worked to keep her voice as calm and as steady as possible.

“Please, don’t bother yourself. My phone is fine and will be ready in a couple of days." She was thankful that the camera couldn’t detect how her heart was pounding in her chest. She wasn’t ready to have this discussion with him and had intended to tell him about her money problems and her new job once he got back. This phone thing could ruin all of that. For the time being her phone number was still active, she just couldn’t afford to text or receive calls.

“That is nonsense. Thomas will take you tomorrow. Why shouldn’t you have a new phone?” Winning this fight would be difficult, but Tosh couldn’t give up. She had an appointment with the department chair tomorrow to try to beg for her class seat back, and she couldn’t break from her plan, or else she would have nothing to show him once he returned. Craving his respect and to find a way to thank him for all he had done for her, Tosh was determined to show him how she managed to get her life back on track.

“Very well.” Regally, he accepted her excuses, but Tosh hadn’t meant for him to take what she said in such a way and wished he would simply drop it. Instead, she now felt humbled and a little beaten down. “Let us move on to more pleasurable things.”

Zap!

Tosh’s brand new briefs had a vibrating shock that made her lose her concentration and she fell over onto her hands and knees. Taking a moment or two to gather her wits, Tosh shook off her surprise and looked up at the camera, wishing there was a monitor nearby so she could see his face in exchange.
