Acknowledgments
As always, I must thank my incredible group of readers and editors who were so generous with their time and support: Kaari, Carrie, Jess, Rachel, and Shelly. This is a far better book because of their feedback.
In addition, my Texan friend Kate spent much time trying to explain to this native Californian the proper use of “y’all.” The fact that Luke never says it is proof that I was a terrible student, but she tried her best. In an alternate version of this novel, Luke says “y’all” often and in the proper context.
Thanks as well to Paul Taylor, my tech wizard. He somehow still likes me despite all the panicked emails I’ve sent his way. I shudder to think what my website would look like without his help.
I’m lucky enough to have two wonderful cover designers. Alisha at Damonza outdid herself this time, and Cynthia Fliege continues to create art with her gorgeous illustrated covers.
Finally, an extra special thanks to the readers who had to wait a bit longer than expected for this book. Your patience and kind words while I was sorting through life stuff helped more than you know.
