When I pull into a parking spot, I think about something to say to her. Shutting off the engine, I turn to look at her for a second before I say anything. “I just hope the reason you never told anyone was because it hurt to talk about and not because you were embarrassed by me.”
I watch her look like a fish out of water for a second before she says anything. “You can’t be serious! I’ve loved you forever. I would never be ashamed of you. You were the reason I didn’t give up when I lost everything. I knew that even if we weren’t together, you’d love Gracilyn as much as I did. I knew we would be able to work things out if we really wanted to. I love you more than anything and I would do anything for you. Please don’t make this about you. It was purely me.” Her tone is something I’ve never heard from her before and I hate myself more even making this something bigger than it should have been.
Leaning towards her, I grab the back of her neck and pull her in for a kiss. “I’m sorry, babe. I just hate that I am part of your past most people don’t know about. I love you.” I pull away from her and she looks like she wants to say something else, but she doesn’t.
“I love you, too. And you are the best part of my past… and present.” She leans towards me and kisses my cheek lightly. Getting out of the truck, I walk over to her side and open the door for her. I help her out and shut the door, locking it before I grab her hand and lead her towards the entrance of the airport.
Once we get to the gate, we sit and wait for a while. Moving the hair out of her face, I lean in and kiss her lips. We don’t say anything and it’s mainly because of the small fight we had on the way here, but I want her to know that even when we do fight or disagree, I still love her more than anything in this world.
When people start coming through the gates, I see her watching. When she finally sees her friend, she stands and I get up with her. A blonde spots Lyndley and starts screaming, running towards us. She lets go of my hand and goes running towards the blonde, I just stand back and watch. I’m glad she has someone like this in her life. I’m sure she needed to have someone by her side when shit got too hard to deal with even if she never told her all the shit that we have between us.
When they are talking, I start to make my way closer to them. Her friend looks up at me as I get closer and her mouth drops open. “Holy hot cowboy!” I grin at her words and I watch Lyndley as her friend checks me out.
Lyndley all but drags her friend the rest of the way to me and introduces us. When she gets close enough, she smacks me playfully on the stomach because of the grin on my face. “Amie, this is Jaxson. Jaxson, this is Amie.”
“Damn, if this is what all the men look like, I’m going to move here.” She comes closer to me and puts her arm through mine. Her eyes practically strip me down naked and I can see the smirk on Lyndley’s face. “Are you single, sweet thing?”
I raise an eyebrow and nod over in Lyndley’s direction. “Wait. This is the guy you’ve been seeing?” Her eyes widen and she looks between both Lyndley and I. Lyndley has a smile on her face and I can’t get over how beautiful she is. “Hot damn, Lynds. He is so fucking hot! I can see why you never get out of bed unless you have to!”
I watch as Lyndley puts her face in her hands and shakes her head at her friend. “Oh, my gawd! You never said how damn hunky he is!”
She runs her hands up and down my arms a few times before she releases me and makes her way back over to Lynnie. “Where can I meet one like him?” she whispers.
Hearing Lynnie giggle, I watch her movements. “You grow up in a small town. He’s my high school sweetheart.”
“No way! You guys dated in high school? How come I didn’t know about this?”
“I’ll tell you later,” she gives her an uncomfortable look and it makes me uneasy. She still isn’t going to tell her friend. I watch them link arms and they make their way towards the baggage claim. When Lynnie finally looks behind her, her eyes take me in. My hands are in my pockets and I’m sure I have a frown on my face when she sees that it upsets me, she releases her friend and comes over to me.
“I love you, Jaxson,” She whispers against my cheek.
Wrapping my arms around her, I kiss her once. “Love you, too, babe.”
“You two are so damn cute!” Amie squeals from behind Lynnie. Shaking my head, I let her grab my hand and drag me with them the rest of the way.
As we walk towards the baggage claim, I swear those two have switched topics like fifty times. They talk about a mile a minute, I have no idea what they are even talking about anymore. I just listen to them and laugh to myself. I have a feeling that Tate is going to love Amie.
By the time we get Amie’s bags, she’s asked me a few dozen questions about the Lynnie I know. By the time she asks the last one, I’m glad. As much as I like to talk about my girl, I can tell she is a little uneasy with what I might tell her friend.
“Was Lynds popular with the boys?” she asks with a grin.
I watch Lynnie shake her head when I go to answer, “All the guys wished they were me. Unlike all the other girls, her body was curvy. She is the total package.” I wink at my girl and the pretty pink blush covers her neck and cheeks.
By the time we pull into the drive, I can see the exhaustion written all over Amie’s face and when I look over at Lynnie, she looks tired too.
“This place is fantastic! Who designed it?” Amie questions, looking around.
I can’t help but smile at her question. I’m sure she never knew that Lyndley could draw. “Lyndley did.”
“What? Are you serious?” She looks over at Lyndley with a shocked expression.
“Yeah. I used to draw my dream house on napkins and scrap paper all the time, but I never knew he kept any of them. When I saw this place the first time, I was in awe of it. It is everything I ever wanted.”
She looks back over to me and I can’t believe the words that just came out of her mouth. I had no idea she loved this place. She hasn’t said anything about it since the first time she came here. Walking over to her, I whisper, “I’m glad you love it. I was hoping you’d live here with me one day.”
Her face lights up and she nods her head before she grabs my face and pulls me in for a kiss.
“Get a room!” Amie yells as she walks past us and up to the door. “Let me guess. You don’t lock your doors around here.” She walks straight inside and starts to laugh. “I’ll take that as a yes.”
Lyndley giggles and presses her cheek against my chest. I laugh silently as her friend walks inside my house. “Let’s get her settled and you into bed,” I growl, kissing her neck and throwing her over my shoulder, walking us into the house.
After Lyndley gets Amie situated in the room she will be staying in, I make sure that Max has gone out. Once he comes back in, he follows us to the bedroom and plops himself down on his bed in my room. I shut the door and watch as Lyndley goes into the bathroom to start getting ready for bed. Getting into the bed, I wait for her to come back and when I see what she’s wearing, I shake my head and frown. Since when did she wear
that
to bed?
“What the hell are you wearing?”
She looks down at her clothes and then back up at me. “Um, pajama pants and a t-shirt?” she gets into the bed and pulls the blankets around her waist, laying back against her pillow.
Moving so I can lean over her body, I go straight to taking her clothes off. “Sorry. I have a no clothes rule for my bed. That doesn’t change because your friend is here.” I pull her pajama bottoms off of her legs and see that she has no panties on. I toss the pants on the floor and start to kiss my way up her thighs. “Mmm… No panties, though. I like that.” My hands run up her body and I grab the edge of her shirt, pulling it up, and over her head in one movement.
“Much better.” I whisper as I take in her naked body. I love seeing the small little stretch marks that she always tries to hide from me and I can’t wait to be able to see her pregnant with my child. I missed a lot of things, but I won’t let that happen again.
Her body moves underneath mine and when I line myself up, I slam into her. Her sucks in a breath and I start to rock against her. Nipping, sucking, and kissing her body, I ravish her body slowly. Her fingers dig into my back. I feel her body tighten and she moans out. I thrust into her a few more long, hard strokes before I feel her come around me. “Jaxson.” She starts to yell put in ecstasy before I clamp my hand over her mouth.
“Shit.” I groan out as I come inside of her. Every time with her gets better than the last and I can’t believe how lucky I am to have her back in my life. I know that we still have a lot to work out between us, but I still feel the same spark as I did when we first met.
“Damn.” Her voice is barely a whisper as she runs her fingers up and down my sides. I kiss her gently and pull out of her slowly causing us both to moan.
“I love you, Lyndley. Nothing will ever change that.” Her eyes watch me closer before she nods at me. I know she feels the same way I do.
“I love you too.” I feel her breath fan over my skin and I lean down to kiss her once more before rolling over to my back, pulling her body into mine. Every night for the last week we’ve fallen asleep in this same exact position and I couldn’t be happier.
Waking up, I pull my arm out from under Lynnie and pull on my jeans. Making my way towards the kitchen to start the coffee, I also make sure my guys don’t need anything today. When I make sure they are good for the morning, I start breakfast. I pull everything I need out of the fridge to make French toast and some bacon. Max comes and lays at my feet for the first ten minutes of my breakfast making, but gets bored of me and wants me to let him out. He lays back by my feet after a few minutes of waiting by the back door.
When I get everything almost done, I hear “Holy fuck” and “He looks even better without a shirt on.” Giggles behind me ensue and when I turn towards them, I have a smirk on my face. They probably didn’t notice that their whispering wasn’t very quiet.
“Mornin’, ladies.” I drawl. I watch the smile on Lynnie’s face grow bigger and Amie fans herself. The front door opens and closes, causing Max to take off in that direction. I see a frown appear on Lynnie’s face and I have a feeling that something happened between them. When we were in high school they used to be really good friends, but now it’s like one of them wants to claw the other’s eyes out at every turn.
I turn back to see Tate coming in the kitchen with Max leading the way. “Hey, Jax, do you have the keys to the truck?”
He turns towards the girls and makes a loud fucking sound, almost like he’s star struck. I point to the keys on the counter and say, “Yeah, man. Right there.” Tate is staring at Amie like she’s going to be his next conquest or something. Laughing at his expression, I tell him, “Tate, close your mouth.”
Tate walks over to the girls and I watch as Lynnie tenses up. Not taking his eyes off Amie, he absently says, “Hi, Lyndley.” He reaches his hand out and Amie sticks her hand in his, giggling when he kisses the back of it. “I’m Tate.”
