JANUS THE OFFSPRING -
PROLOGUE

The twins stood motionless like
statues, staring straight ahead in a surreal atmosphere of deadly silence. It was
the calm after the storm, and neither girl expressed the slightest trace of
human emotion. This followed the horrific murder that they’d committed just
five minutes earlier on the completely helpless victim. Worse still, was the
fact that they weren’t the least bit bothered about the sound of wailing police
sirens approaching in the distance, which grew louder and louder with every
passing second.

Up above, flashes of blue light could be seen reflecting off the
surrounding buildings alongside busy shop fronts that displayed their latest
bargains in the hope of enticing customers in. This included a multitude of two
for one offerings, which seemed to be the latest retail industry incentive, yet
neither girl so much as batted an eyelid as three police cars swept past on the
viaduct directly above them.

A lonely tramp that had only just
started to frequent the area, happened to wander past just at that moment. He
was completely oblivious to what had taken place, and totally unaware of the
presence of the twins, who’d just appeared from an adjacent alleyway. This
constantly stank of urine, and despite the council cleaners visiting on a
regular basis, it still tended to grow worse in the warmer weather.

With half glazed eyes and foul smelling breath, he finally caught sight
of them in the distance. Staggering his way slowly towards them, in the hope of
cadging a bit of money to buy some drink, with a dodge that had worked a good
few times in the past, he moved ever closer. Yet even he, with his totally
messed up mind and badly blurred vision, only needed one look into their
terrifying blue eyes to send him scurrying away. He immediately shot off like a
screaming banshee and looked as though the devil was close on his tail. A half
full whisky bottle that he’d treasured so much just a few moments earlier, now
lay smashed to smithereens. Jagged shards of broken glass lay scattered across
the concrete surface, very close to the feet of the twins. The old codger
eventually disappeared from view as the early evening began to descend in
gradual degrees of darkness. Out in the open, any passers-by at the time would
have simply caught his usual insane ranting and rambling about it being the end
of the world. Most people would have ignored him, just as everybody normally
did. To everyday folk who were used to seeing him and others just like him,
these people didn’t really exist as far as they were concerned.

In the meantime, a footpath just off
to the right, from the one the tramp had appeared from earlier, held a rather
grisly secret. A scruffy looking, stray black and white dog from the local
housing estate, just a short distance away from the underpass, casually
sauntered across to explore the area. Sniffing the air of the dark, dank
surroundings, it soon sensed a smell that it had never come across before. A
few paces on, it soon located the source, and found itself standing over a
thick sticky red substance, whose surface was covered with a slight scattering
of black carbonated deposits. The dog’s long eager tongue leapt from its saggy
jaws, then lapped greedily at the congealed sweetness coming from the unusual
mixture below.

After a while, the twins finally
became animated and decided to make a move. They walked away relatively fast
from the area, which they would always remember as their first killing ground.
The two girls happily expressed their approval to each other as they went on
their way.

In the meanwhile, and absolutely unbeknown to the twins at that instant
in time, any remaining traces of evidence, quickly began to disappear via the
noisy dog that now squatted down and devoured the last remains, in the shadowy
area behind them.

CHAPTER 1 – Dana’s
Dreams

The whole event still seemed quite
recent to Dana, but in reality it had been twelve long years since her father,
Detective Inspector Dave Sorbus had died in the line of duty. His premature
death had taken place while fighting an evil creature that could, and would
have threatened the whole of mankind, had he not acted as bravely as he had.
Sadly, her father’s actions had long since been hushed up by a team of
professionals, in a very clinical and well organised manner.

Only a handful of people knew the actual truth behind what had taken place,
but since that time, every person involved had been sworn to secrecy.

Likewise, they were also monitored on a regular basis, following a few
leaks that had taken place, especially during the early stages. The man had
lost his life well before it should have ended, having occurred in the cold,
and murky waters of the River Thames at Putney. This had happened during a
brave but futile attempt to save a troubled young woman, who’d nearly drowned
as a consequence of his fixation in pursuing an individual known as Janus.

Long before the tragedy had occurred, Dana Sorbus had sadly lost her
mother Lucy, during a long battle against cancer. Yet despite her terrible
anguish at the time, the youngster had somehow managed to find the strength and
determination to wrestle her father away from a separate fight against the
demon bottle. This was something he automatically turned to for comfort, and he
liked to use the pressure of his job as a feeble excuse whenever he felt he
needed one.

It had been a hard and desperate struggle for such a young girl,
especially one who’d had no one else to turn to at that time. Especially when
it was her who should have been receiving all the love and affection, rather
than her father. Gazing back with hindsight, it was easy to see how that type
of resolve had gotten Dana to where she was today. The whole experience had
provided her with the balls to be the type of fighter she’d eventually turned
out to be, with so much strength and resolve only adding to her many qualities.
Now, at the ripe old age of thirty-nine, with her first ever grey hair
literally having just been plucked with utter disgust from the right side of
her forehead, Dana stared back at the weary looking reflection in the bathroom
mirror. She smiled as she recalled how as a child, her father used to tease her
and tell her that she possessed the face of an angel.

In later life, having ignored his
advice on so many occasions, although sometimes it had been done just to spite
him, Dana had eventually shown her true colours and decided to follow his path
into the police force. It had only taken seven-years for her to make it to the
much sought after grade of Detective Inspector, despite her loving father’s
best attempts to block much of her progress along the way. This was something
he’d attempted with an unbelievable amount of dirty tricks, having pulled as
many internal strings as he could. On a few occasions however, this had also
meant calling on quite a few favours that he’d been owed from the past.

Thankfully, Dana had been a fully focused and feisty individual, who
definitely preferred to be in charge. Yet, having inherited more than her fair
share of her father’s stubbornness, his feeble efforts to thwart her, had only
served to increase her determination all the more, as she proved so well in the
end.

Over the following years, with a
great deal of well earned police experience on her side, Dana had eventually
grown to become a very resolute, hardened, battle scarred character. She was
also the type of woman who tended to take each day as it came, no matter how
good or bad it seemed at first. Sadly however, she still suffered from the
occasional nightmare as a consequence of her father’s death. It was no surprise
really, especially as she’d imagine the whole scenario quite graphically, and
hear the sickening thud of the approaching speedboat over and over again. Nine
times out of ten, Dana would picture that evil creature in human form, dripping
from head to toe in her father’s lifeblood. He’d be standing masterfully at the
wheel of the vessel, laughing with gusto as it would tear recklessly across the
water at breakneck speed. All the while, its deadly propeller blades would be
ready and waiting to locate their target. Then, the worst possible outcome
would arise, as they’d rip their way deep into the back of her fathers exposed
skull, while he’d be swimming totally helpless in the water.

The dreams always ended the same way, with Dave failing to hear the
sound of the approaching speedboat until it was right upon him. Her poor father
would be far too late to avoid being torn to shreds, while Janus would simply
guide the vessel to the exact location he was after. All this would happen
exactly the same way each time. It would always take place as if in slow
motion, despite his daughter standing, shaking on the bank, screaming out
warnings at the top of her voice until her throat could take no more.

During every single one of those dreadful nightmares, the scene would be
repeated over and over again. It would always follow with the same sequence of
events each and every time, with her being utterly powerless to do anything at
all. Dana would eventually wake up in an awful state. She’d be sweating with
fear and tend to be totally oblivious of her immediate surroundings. Her
breathing would be deep, in long drawn out cycles, and she’d always be
thoroughly exhausted at the end, as the last painstaking moments of the
nightmare usually took a little longer to completely fade away. She’d also end
up lying spread-eagled across the bed in most instances, and normally be in a
state of distress. She’d feel totally helpless thereafter, and then have to
wait for her head to become clear of all the clutter, in the knowledge that
given enough time it would eventually happen all over again. No matter how hard
she tried, Dana could never quite shake off the reoccurring nightmare. Yet deep
down, despite the fact that it would be she, who’d finally end up gaining
revenge for her father, having killed Janus, there would still be something
that wasn’t quite right. This feeling would basically be, that somehow or
another, that was not necessarily the point at which the story would end.
Something didn’t feel right. Yet she could never quite work out what it was.
Dana was also well aware, that the images she suffered, would more than likely
be something that would remain with her, right up until the day she died.

Dana certainly wasn’t anyone’s fool, and she’d also been through the
depressive stages herself, having already shared the downward spiral that her
father had obviously suffered when her mother had died so many years ago. Yet,
although it had taken what seemed like a lifetime to get over it, she’d
gradually managed to pick up the pieces over a period of time, and pretty much
managed to shake off most of the emotional baggage.

Hopefully, according to her way of thinking, that had now gotten her
right back to where she’d initially left off in the first place. The nightmares
would always cause a slight setback whenever they appeared. Yet as far as she
was concerned, this was something she’d simply have to learn to live with, in
the hope that she’d finally conquer them one day, and eventually gain back a
large majority of her sanity.

Dana
lay sprawled but slightly tangled up in the heavy purple duvet that she’d
draped with no great care over the bed, which left one half of her naked body
fully uncovered. The sight
of her long elegant left leg would have been a real temptation to any
true red-blooded male if they’d shared the room, but sadly there were no men in
her life at the present time.
That hadn’t
exactly stopped her from playing the field, as she’d still been more than happy
to
have the occasional one-night stand every
now and again. This was so long as she was in the right frame of mind, and on
condition that the man had adequate protection with him. You certainly couldn’t
afford to take chances with so many warnings about sexual diseases and HIV
constantly being shown on TV and splashed all over the newspapers and glossy
magazines.

Dana was also experienced enough to hold a
backup stash of condoms in her bedside drawer. This was just in case they ended
up at her place without any advance warning, as had tended to happen on one or
two occasions in the past. These guys were well aware that come the morning,
they’d have to get up and go as part of the agreement they’d made beforehand.
This hadn’t always been the case, especially during the earlier days. Of
course, there were always the difficult ones from time to time. Yet one quick
flash of her police badge was usually more than enough to send them scurrying
off with their pants around their ankles.

Taking the plunge, having
risen
from her bed with the sun glaring
down in small broken patches through the dusty wooden slats of her elongated
sash windows, Dana ran her hand through her long black hair and glanced down at
the smartly trimmed black bush between her legs. Walking swiftly to the
bathroom, she headed straight to the toilet, especially as she’d been bursting
to go for a while. After washing her hands, which she always did, as she was a
great believer in cleanliness, she promptly reached up and removed a fresh
white fluffy towel from the linen cupboard, before placing it on a radiator to
warm up. She then stepped into the welcoming environment of the shower cubicle
and slid the glass door shut behind her. Dana then turned and pressed the
shower button fairly hard. This tended to have a nasty habit of sticking at
times, especially whenever she was in a hurry. It was always a shock to the
system when the cold water initially struck the body, but that first couple of
seconds before the hot water eventually kicked in, always seemed to do the
trick. This completely woke her up and tended to set her up for the rest of the
day. The hot water felt good as it covered every inch of her skin. She moved
around underneath helping to guide the tiny jets of water as best she could. As
she relaxed under the strong vibrant massage of the spray, most of the pent up tension
from the previous day gently started to ebb away. This allowed Dana’s mind to
wander back to a brief encounter she’d experienced with a young waiter just a
few months earlier. She recalled that the guy had been tall, dark and handsome,
just like one of those dreamy hunks seen in the movies. Yet he’d also proved to
be one of those rare, but great lovers, who really understood a woman’s
desires, and put her needs before his own. The guy had obviously done his
homework, knowing exactly what buttons to push and at what moments he needed to
do so. Dana maintained this erotic image in her mind as she turned back to face
the shower and let the water do its job.
Her
body was soon glowing red
from the heat, and
she remained more than content as the hot water did its best to soften her
skin. It then flowed over the elegant contours of her firm ripe breasts and
slowly teased the very ends of her pert nipples. The water brushed hard against
the curves of her stomach causing a sudden rush of excitement, as the memories
of that night grew deeper in strength. She whimpered softly, then Dana felt the
confines of her womanhood begin to moisten, as her fingers slowly went to work
and expertly teased and explored the longings of her body. As expected, Dana
knew her personal needs so much better than anybody else, having been on her
own for far too long. As a single woman in a modern world where masturbation
was no longer quite so taboo, even she kept her favourite battery operated toy
hidden at the back of her top drawer. It had proved to be very useful for those
really lonely nights, especially when she could no longer hold back her womanly
needs. The whole range of diverse products on the market had soured over the
last few years, and although she had her favourite, she was still keen to try
out the latest ones that some of her female colleagues had discussed on a
recent girls night out. Pouring apple scented shampoo on the upper part of her
chest, with a small drop placed in each hand, she then cupped them over her breasts
and massaged them slowly. She did this very sensuously in soft circular
movements, and the lather allowed them to slide up and down with great ease.
She then worked her way around and concentrated on each nipple until they were
so hard and pointed that she could have used them as coat-hangers. Moving
lower, she finally reached the v-shaped crescent of pubic hair that patiently
awaited her attention. Peeling the lips of her lady-mound gently aside, she
then set about massaging the outer area with sensual, probing touches. Teasing
her body to near breaking point, she finally inserted her middle finger deep
into the hot gushing hole, in order to satisfy her needs. Fully lubricated with
her own love juices, Dana soon had three fingers fully inserted as she stimulated
her pleasure dome with great dexterity. Her cries were loud and extremely
evocative as she eventually allowed herself to reach orgasm, while she leaned
hard up against the tiled wall of the shower in the process.

A knowing smile finally spread across her
face as she gradually came back down from the heights of ecstasy, with the
image of the handsome waiter slowly dispersing from the inner reaches of her
lusty imagination.
