There were groans all around, and then Stanley continued. “Paul married into a prominent Massachusetts family, where he entered politics. He acquired all the right contacts, and with the information he remembered from Ludwig, became a powerful psychiatric advocate. He became quite wealthy on pharmaceutical kickbacks alone. Eventually, a junkie trying to rob him shot him to death.”

Stanley raised his hands in his best poetic justice pose.

After a long pause, Casey spoke, “Charlie and I have a bit of a surprise to announce ourselves.”

Charlie bit his lip, but couldn’t resist. “That’s what pregnant pauses are for.”

“Noooo,” Stanley interjected.

“Yep, a baby.” Charlie beamed, and Casey beamed with him.

“It’s a girl!” Casey added.

“Do you have a name?”

“Alchera. We will call her Ali.”

Stanley leaned forward. “What does that name mean?”

“You will just have to Google it, brainy boy!”

Dreams

Dreams give birth to all

Or so the ancients say

A dreamer dreamed in antiquity

And we were on our way

Let there be light

Some say he spoke anew

I only wonder who it was

that he spoke it to

There were no ears to hear

Nor eyes to take it in

Were we part of that dreamer?

That helped it all begin

Our world in three dimensions

Is dependant on me and you

There are many sides to everything

Created by point of view

So if we are part of the dreamer

And
we
helped create it all

Do we have responsibility

To help prevent its fall?

Should we really love our fellow man

That dreamer just like us?

Should we turn our backs and let him fail

And avoid a nasty fuss?

Or do we dream a better dream

That takes us to the side of light

Or do we close our eyes

And dream of eternal night?

We can dream of love and happiness

Or punishment for one and all

For our wishes for others eternal fate

May be our own at the final curtain fall.
