Kneeling next to me Jason
poking at my wound on my side a whimper left my lips before I could stop it, I clamped them shut as well as my eyes. My side was on fire were he touched me; it was like he had poured lava in the wound.

"You better hope she doesn't bleed to death, dumb ass," Jason glared at Eien then turned away heading for the stairs where Sam had retreated to a few moments earlier. He made a hand gesture and every one cleared out, leaving me alone with Jet.

"Jet?" I nudged him again. Grabbing his hand I shook it. He stirred a bit but did not wake up.

"Jet, please," I pleaded shaking him again. His eyes slid open a small amount.

"Jet..." I breathed relieved. He lifted his head looking at me with his one good eye. The punch he received earlier had already swollen his right eye to the point he couldn't open it.

"Ever...does Oliver know what's going on?" Jet asked. He must have been out during the phone call.

"Yes. Jason called him. Oliver's walking straight into a trap," I whispered nodding to the map.

"I know. I was here when they were setting up the plans."

Frowning I looked down at his pour mangled legs.

"Are you in pain?"

He looked down at his legs. "I can't feel anything," he spoke sadly.

"W...what? Nothing?"

He shook his head. "I have been trying, but I can't wiggle my toes. I think I'm paralyzed."

Turning my head away I let out a sob. Tears began pouring and I couldn't stop them.

"Ever, shh," Jet told me gently.

I shook my head. "It's my fault. If I had told Oliver about Eien-"

"Everlyn. That's enough," he told me firmly. I looked up at him through blurry vision.

"No matter what has happened, or will happen. I want you to know I love you as my sister. If anything should happen to me-"

"No! Jet don't talk like that. It will be ok. Oliver he's-"

"Ever," Jet spoke stopping me. "If something does happen. In my bedroom, the top draw of my dresser there is something in there. As well as a note you'll know who to give it to okay."

Letting out another sob I laid my head on Jet's shoulder. "Everything is going to be okay. I promise."

He said nothing just laying his head against mine.

I must have blacked out because the next thing I knew I was being lifted over someone’s shoulder. Trembling and shivering I tried to focus on the ground below my head. I had been gagged with a bandana; it was uncomfortable in my mouth.

In the corner of my eye
I saw Jet being carried behind me he was still bound as well. It was the longest walk of my life as we went up the basement stairs then through a door and across dying grass into the junk yard.

My vision went in and out of focus. I was so dizzy. I hadn't really thought about bleeding to death until this moment. I hadn't really thought about the whole situation very much. Was I in shock? I had never felt this
detached from myself before.

Being slung to the hard ground Jet was dropped next to me. Gazing around I seen all of Jason's gang. There was at least thirty or more. All wearing some form of red. Jason was standing in front of me looking over his men.

"Night stalkers are on their way. You all have your orders. Block all exits. Funnel them in to the middle. That won't be too hard. Little Ever will draw them right in."

I gave him the evilest look I could muster.

"They're coming!" Someone far off yelled.

"Move!" Jason ordered. Everyone scattering quickly except Jason and Aaron. Jason walked up to me.

"Can't have you ruining my plans," he smirked stepping behind me. He tightened the gag. I choked on it. My jaw was held open in a painful way and I couldn’t move it. Jason did the same to Jet’s gag. Looking to Jet he gave me a look that spoke volumes. Everything was about to get very, very bad. I scooted closer to Jet pulling my legs under me and lowering my head toward Jet’s chest. He rested his chin on my head.

"JASON!" Oliver yelled, his voice seemed to vibrate the piles of junk. The anger in his voice was like nothing I have ever heard before. Stepping into the circle of cars he was not alone. Jake, Tyler, Logan, and two boys, I knew as Scotty and the other was named Mathew.

Oliver's eyes looked over me; his eyes scanned my body stopping on my blood stained shirt. It was like a demon took over him. His eyes darkened and snapped to Jason. It was worse than the look he had for Luke and Derrick. He was going to murder Jason. There was no doubt at all in my mind about that.

"This ends. Now," Oliver spoke in a tone that made me shutter.

"Oh, Oliver. It was over the minute you stepped foot in the junk yard."

Jason snapped his fingers. Aaron pulled out a gun and raised it toward me and Jet. There was a gun shot that rang in my ears. I cringed waiting for the pain. It was me it had to be me. He shot me. Something hit the ground next to me. Looking up I seen Aaron face down on the ground, his face turned toward me blood pooling out of his mouth. I stared wide eyed at his lifeless body.

All hell broke loose then. Jason's men swarmed out and Oliver's men on top of them. Oliver had
known about the set up and his men had come in from behind. Hope swam in my chest. Fighting was all around Jet and I. Oliver and Jason were trying to beat each other's heads in. No one was even bothering with us. Adrenaline rushed into my veins giving me energy I didn't think I had any longer.

Scooting over to Aaron I tried searching his pockets. It was difficult with my hands bound. Finding what I was looking for I pulled the knife out and scooted back to Jet and handed it to him. I didn't even know how to open the thing. Cutting off my fingers didn’t seem appealing. Flicking it open he sawed through his bonds and ripped the rag from his mouth.

"Ever, when I untie you I need you to run. Get out of here right now," Jet ordered pulling the gag out of my mouth.

"Jet, I'm not leaving you."

He cut through the rope on my legs then my wrists.

"Everlyn, dammit. For once don't be you. Please run. That's the best thing you can do right now."

Ignoring him I grabbed his arm and threw it over my shoulder. He groaned in pain.

"Don't argue with me," I told him firmly.

His legs were useless and I tried so hard to pull him with me to the exit. After a few feet I collapsed holding my side.

"Ever, please," he pleaded grabbing my face. "Leave me."

"No! I won't," I told him firmly. Trying to stand again but fell. Someone's legs ran into me and they tripped over falling to the ground. It was one of Oliver's boys. He landed on top of Jet. Jet grunted.

A red
shirt was hovering over me pointing a gun at the man. The boy with the gun was young maybe fifteen; I knew what was going to happen.

Screaming I jumped at the boy but his finger squeezed the trigger. Taking the kid to the ground I began punching him with everything I had, surprising myself with the sheer brutality. His nose broke under my fist. I didn't stop.

Not until his face was unrecognizable. Sliding back to the ground, the boy now
unconscious, I looked to Jet. The bullet had hit him in the chest.

I screamed in anguish. My chest, my heart, felt as if it had died that instant. Grabbing Jet in my arms I held him.

"No, Jet, no," I cried. "I love you. I love you, you can't. You can't die."

His eyes slid shut and his head fell to the side. NO! I shook my head holding him to me laying my head to his chest. His heart was still beating. Jerking my head up I looked down at him. His heart was still beating!

I spun looking around wildly. Jake wasn't that far from me.

"Jake!" I screamed. Oliver and Jason were nowhere to be seen. Jake took out the guy he had been fighting and spun around looking at me. His eyes went to Jet and widened. Running to me he slid to my side.

"We have to get him to a hospital! He's shot," I told him sobbing. "Help him! Please!"

Jake took Jet from my arms and lifted him carefully. Then looked around and yelled out to a few boys. They were at his side in a second.

"You get him and her out of here and to a hospital now," he ordered.

"Jake…"

"Don't you dare argue with me Ever," he told me handing Jet over then helping me up.

"I'm not," I told him hugging him. "You stay safe. You keep them all safe."

Holding my head to his chest he kissed my cheek. "I will."

Turning my back on the fighting I let one of the boys lift me up and carry me out of the junk yard. I had no idea the outcome of this battle but I knew that Oliver would be ok. I hoped Oliver would be ok, but Jet was my priority right now. I caused this, I'll be damned if he dies because of me.

Chapter Twenty Three

Oliver

Jason and I were rolling around the ground beating the hell out of each other. His nose was crooked and blood covered his mouth. I knew my lip was split and I had a gash over my eye.

Blinking through the blood I flung him over so I was on top of him. Not having time to throw a punch he kicked me off. Painfully my back hit the junked cars behind me. Wiping my eyes I glared at Jason. This was the end. One way or another one of us was not walking out of this place alive.

It was him or me. I'll be damned if this pathetic piece of shit takes me away from my girl. I had seen Ever with Jake earlier. Her screams still ringing in my ears. Something was wrong, whether with her or Jet I wasn't sure, but I knew that Jake would do what he could to help her.

Jason lunged grabbing me around the waist taking me down.

"Come on, Oliver. Get your mind off that stupid slut of yours and fight me god dammit," Jason yelled punching me in the stomach. Slamming my fist into his chest his breath left his body. His eyes widened and I launched him backwards jumping on him. Pinning him down I punched him repeatedly.

"You mother fucker. I told you! I warned you! You touch a hair on her head I'll kill you."

My knuckles slit open as they connected with Jason’s mouth again. There was a flick, I knew that sound, jerking backwards I snarled as he embedded a knife all the way to the hilt in my left forearm. Without thinking I ripped it out and went to stab him in the chest with it.

Grabbing my arms he held me off. My blood dripped off the tip
on to his soiled shirt the blade getting closer to his heart with every second. Giving one good shove he turned to the side and I slashed across his ribs. Grabbing my left arm he dug his fingers into the fresh wound causing me to drop the knife. Stupid bastard has gotten stronger!

Both of us rolled away from each other, getting on one knee I watched him, kneeling as well he glanced at the knife.

"Do it," I challenged. "It'll be the last thing you do."

Images of Ever tied up, and bleeding crossed my mind. Her blood soaked shirt sticking to her side, the look of fear and pain. She was so pale. Then there was Jet with both his legs broken his head resting on her head trying to protect her when he could barely sit up. Clenching my teeth I let out a yell that didn't even sound human to my own ears.
