“So where were you today Bale? You have just missed out on Poppy being blanked by Blake. It was rather funny,” Oscar chuckled handing me and Alex a drink.

“Blanked? How is that you make out with the guy a couple of weeks ago, and now he won’t even acknowledge your existence?” I chuckled dodging Oscar’s question.

“Who’s Blake then?” Asked Alex as she began searching the garden, that had doubled in size since we had arrived. There was no music on which was a bit odd. Glancing around I spotted Blake in the corner, talking to none other than Adam Huggleby. Who was the only human boy that I would consider dating. Dressed in a plain grey t shirt that clung to his perfectly shaped body, I couldn’t see his attractiveness anymore. That’s so weird, why does this boy looked so plain now when he was drop dead gorgeous less than three months ago.

“He’s with Adam Elle,” Poppy smiled cockily.

“I see that,” I replied taking a huge gulp of the lemonade I had in my hand.

The image of Logan’s perfectly divined body popped in place of Adam. I shook my head trying to remove his face from my mind.

“Are you ok?” Alex whispered.

“I think I might be losing it, but other than that, I’m dandy,” I smiled weakly. How an earth have I let Logan get so far into my head. That the only boy I could think of or be attracted to, was him. Rolling my eyes in an attempt to distract myself, I finished off the remaining lemonade in my plastic cup and threw it into the over flowing bin behind me.

“You're thinking about Logan aren’t you,” Alex whispered.

“No,” I replied not even attempting to fool her. Sitting on the cold hard floor next to Poppy, I ushered for Alex to sit with me. She followed my lead with a huge smirk on her face. Refusing to look at her, I knew what she was thinking because I was thinking the same thing. Logan was defiantly clouding my thoughts.

“So Oscar, I see queen bee is here tonight. Has she spoken to you yet?” I asked. I had seen Emma as soon as we had entered the garden. Wearing barely any clothes, she was hard to miss. That girl had no dignity at all. If she wasn’t flaunting what she had, she was putting other people down. One day karma will severely bite her ass.

“Yeah I saw her, and a lot of her,” He chuckled. “No dignity at all.”

“I think she left that at home with the rest of her clothes,” Alex giggled as she saw the girl we had been talking about. Even though all these years I had tried to keep Alex separate from my college friends. I hadn’t really realised how much easier it was for them to get along together.  I hated being away from Alex on the weekdays, so why had I never thought to involve her in my week days was beyond me.

“Why is there no music at this party?” I asked.

“Stereo is bust,” Adam replied as he sat down beside me. He sent a charming smile my way, and I couldn’t help but smile back. Any other girl would be giggling and blushing but me. No,  apparently I only had eyes for one guy and he wasn’t even a guy, he was a demon.

“All these guys at this party and you’re telling me, not one of them can fix a stereo,” I chuckled.

“Apparently so,” He laughed. His laugh was sweet and made me smile,
but
it didn’t have the same effect it used to have on me. No hair on the back of my neck standing up and no butterflies in my stomach. This totally sucks, I really want to be attracted to this guy. Just so I can make a point to myself that I do not like Logan. So far I’m failing miserably.

“Feel free to take a crack at it Elle!” Robbie Militon, captain of the football team threw the stereo in my direction. Catching it in my hands, he looked at me in shock. Controlling my laughter I took a look at the broken stereo. All I need to do is run my finger along it to repair it with magic, but in order to look like I did manually.  I’ll have to fiddle around a bit.  Twiddling the knobs on the front, I caressed the base of the mechanical object and handed it back to Robbie.

“Now try it,” I smiled proudly. Pressing the power button music blared out from the speakers, deafening everyone in a five foot radius.

“Thanks Elle you’re a genius,” He cheered running off into the house with the blaring music. Alex rolled her eyes at me and chuckled as I smiled.

“Well she’s not just a mascot. She also a technician awesome,” Emma scoffed, approaching my group of friends.

“What do you want Emma?” I asked standing up, so I was the same height as her. I really didn’t need a pathetic human to put me down right now.  She had no right to do so, and her I’m the best act that she had going on, was really starting to get on my nerves.

“Oh please.”Rolling her eyes, she pushed past me and sat next to Oscar much to Oscar’s dismay. There’s me thinking she actually knew when she wasn’t wanted.

“Didn’t realise I was watching mean girls,” Alex chuckled as I sat back down next to her.

“Trust me it’s like a daily re run,” I sighed.

“Don’t worry about her. She’s just threatened by you,” Adam broke in.

Rolling her eyes Emma gave Adam a devil stare, before pushing out her chest and folding her arms in defence mode.

“I am the cheer captain and also the hottest girl in college. Why would I be threatened by that,” She shrieked.

Well she didn’t hold back on her dislike to me. What had I ever done to her to upset her so much. It could have been back when I was twelve. I did sort of push her into a pile of mud, but that was a complete accident, she wasn’t looking where she was going, and I fell onto her. Doesn’t really give her the reason to look at me with pure hatred in her eyes though, it was nothing an apology and a bath couldn’t sort out.

“Right and you only got the captain job because you flashed Mr Anderson to get it,” He chuckled. We all gasped at her as she flipped her hair and stood up to walk off, not even attempting to deny the allegation.

“This is like one tree hill,” Alex laughed. I’m glad she was enjoying the show because I defiantly was. Emma had been embarrassed in front of us all. She was going to get her own back one way or another, and I know I’m going to be in the firing line. She’s has me dressing up as a shark, what more can she do to humiliate me.

“Thanks,” I smiled.

“No problem. She gets on my nerves anyway. I hate girls who think they are all that. Nothing worse than a woman who thinks she rules the world,” He smiled taking a swig from the brown bottle in his hand.  How about one that will someday rule half of it. Chuckling silently to myself, he stood up as someone called him from inside.

“See you later guys,” He exclaimed, heading towards the glowing light that came from the door into the house. The night sky darkened the busy garden. The only light source was the Christmas lights that were wrapped un evenly around the washing line that hung down through the middle of the garden. People continued to be caught in them as they walked to and fro in the small space. I preferred these smaller parties rather than the huge banquets my father threw in Gracia. It’s a lot less awkward for me, with no false smiles just to get me through the night. My phone vibration brought me out of my staring into space and back into the party.

You are in big trouble lady!

The text from my father made my stomach knot. It didn’t take him that long to be informed of my disappearance. I would have thought Gary and Rory had a little bit more of a back bone.

I’m at the Bales

I replied there is no way he is going to believe that. He knew me too well but obviously not well enough to see this coming.

“You alright Elle? Who’s that?” Poppy asked looking at the phone in my hands.

“Just Beth wondering where I am,” I lied. The lies really do roll off my tongue these days. I’m sure that’s not a good thing but times like these I forget why.

Taking the phone from my hand, Alex read the message from my father and sighed. She knew we had to go back before he turned up here looking for me. I’m certain that would be crossing his mind this very minute.

“We got to go!” I exclaimed as a small blue light circled the heads of the half drunken teenagers. They batted the blue light away from their faces. Not thinking anymore of it than a wasp or fly.

“Oh ok,” Alex mumbled standing up slowly as I pulled her by the arm.

“Sorry guys we will see you later.”

Speeding away from my confused group of friends, I clasped my hands over the blue light and sped out the party.

Waiting till we were across the road, I opened my hands to reveal a small blue haired pixie that was cutting my hand with her mini knife.

“Bloody hate pixies,” Alex muttered as I lifted the pixie to my eye line by her collar. Fairies I can handle because they are small human like creatures. That help others out with their fairy dust, but pixies caused far too much trouble. Even though, they were similar to fairies, I could tell the difference by their menacing glow and rebel outfits.

“What are you doing here,” I asked as the Pixie kicked her legs frantically and fluttered her wings in a bid to escape.

“I ain't telling you! You ain't the boss of me,” She shrieked. Glancing back at the open gate that lead to Blake’s back garden, I pursed my lips. This wasn’t exactly the best place to be having this conversation.

Shoving her back into my hands, I closed them and began to walk half a mile away from the big group of mortals. Kicking and punching my hands trying to break free, I felt the sharp point of her dagger as she repeatedly poked and prodded it into my skin.

“Calm down you little Twerp,” I snarled taking her by the collar of her brown t shirt again as we came to a stop.

“Get your filthy hands off me”, She shrilled throwing her dagger about like it was going to do damage to us. Alex chuckled as she took the mini pin out of the Pixies hand. She struggled for a second before Alex prised it from her tight grip.

“Now when she asks you a question you will answer got it!” Alex snarled holding the Pixies fluttering wings to stop them from moving. This angered her further as she began ranting and raving in such a high pitch voice, I couldn’t understand what she was talking about.

“Who are you and what are you doing here? I’d prefer it if you answered in a pitch in which not only dogs can hear you,” I mocked lifting her further from my face so that her frantic leg kicking didn’t hit it. Folding her skinny arms she turned her head away from me. Refusing to speak, typical Pixie thing to do. They never were one to answer basic questions.

“If that’s how you want it then. Alex open up your purse,” I commanded. With a smug look on her face,  Alex opened up her small brown purse, and I placed the Pixie inside. I zipped it back up and left a small opening so she could breathe. The purse glowed with her blue light as she threw herself at the sides, thrashing them with her tiny fists.

“Now what?” Alex asked shaking the purse in her hands. Stopping her from giving the creature brain damage, I took the purse from her hand. Rolling her eyes at me she waited for me to answer with her arms folded.

“We could throw her into a river.”

“ALEX!” I yelled. She wasn’t being very cooperative, but she didn’t need to drown.

“I was kidding,” She muttered. No,  she wasn’t, she was deadly serious. She had never gotten over a couple of Pixies stealing her dog when we were younger. We knew it had been Pixies as they left a cheeky note, declaring their sheer enjoyment of it all. Only Pixies were that mean and mellow dramatic.

“Are you ready to talk in there?” I asked putting the purse to my ear. With a small kick, her foot tapped the corner of my ear.

“Ok then,” I sighed.

“We could let her go I suppose.”

“We could but then we won’t know why she was scoping the place out will we,” I replied. Why can’t she just be more cooperative and then we could let her go on her merrily little way. To cause mischief somewhere else.

“Well little one. If you don’t answer, then I’m afraid I’m going to have to make you. How delicate do you think their wings are?” I asked Alex. I know it was mean, and I would never do it, but she didn’t know that.

The purse fell silent, and she seemed like she had given up. The blue glow began to dim inside the fabric pouch.  Glancing at each other we looked back down at the silent purse.

“Fine if you must know. My name its Antoinette and I do not think kindly to you caging me in with these coins. They are bruising my skin,” She moaned, her voice was slightly muffled by the leather fabric.

“I was not aware you were here,” She mumbled.

“Don’t lie to me,” I exclaimed shaking the purse.

“STOP IT!” She yelled, her light glowing brighter as she stumbled inside.

“Fine!” She yelled, as I continued to shake the purse, lightly just enough for her to become dizzy and irritated.

“What was that?” I mocked.

“I said fine! I was spying on you,” she mumbled.

“Why were you spying on me? Who sent you?” I asked, opening the purse so that Antoinette could poke her blue head out.

“Which is it that you want to know. Why or who?” She snickered, with an evil smile on her tiny face.  Pushing her head down into the purse, I closed the zip up again so that I couldn’t see her evil smirk.
