Laci spun around, gripping my dick and pulling it into her mouth. She went to work, making sure she licked up every speck of juices. I leaned my head back in pure satisfaction.

“You like that?” she asked, looking up at me.

“I love that, come here,” I told her.

She leaned up and I pulled her into a kiss. You know how you know Laci had me gone? I didn’t even give a fuck that she just got down sucking both of our cum off my dick. I tongued her ass down like this was my last kiss from her.

“I love your annoying ass; you know that,” I said, pulling away.

“I love your rude ass too.” She giggled.

I looked into her eyes as she told me she loved me and I knew what we had was real. Laci showed me the love and affection I never got from my parents. Yeah, it might have taken a her a minute to get right, but the point was, as soon as she did, she was everything I knew she would be.

Chapter 36: Laci

June came around and summer was in full swing. In about a week, my sister would be graduating college, Jinx had a birthday coming up, and my Law Firm would official be open for business. Life was good for me right now but something kept bothering me. There was still no sign of Brett and, for some reason, that didn’t sit well with me. It had been about a month and a half since I killed Shirley and Dennis; I would’ve thought that would’ve brought Brett out of hiding but it didn’t.

The way Brett would talk to me while we were going through the marriage process had me thinking that he was this big crime boss. He talked as if he ran things but I’m starting to see that was a lie. When Gunz killed Brett’s father, Brett should’ve retaliated or something, yet he did nothing.

“What you in here cooking?” Nazi asked, pulling me away from my thoughts.

“Dinner, something you know nothing about.” I laughed.

“Don’t get mad at me because my man cooks for me.”

“Nobody is mad about it; you’re just too spoiled. Jinx created a monster.”

“If you say so. Wassup though? When I came in here, you seemed a little out of it.” She pulled out a chair and sat at the table.

“Nothing I was just thinking about Brett.”

“What the hell are you thinking about him for?” she asked with her face screwed up.

“It’s not what you think. I find it weird that Gunz killed his father, we killed Shirley and Dennis, but he hasn’t done anything yet.”

“I don’t know why you’re surprised. Brett is pussy; you should’ve known that from the way Gunz just walked into the ceremony and bodies started dropping. For him to be crime boss, he got punked more than a few times. That nigga lost all respect.”

“I just have this feeling he’s planning something and I rather get to him before he could get to me,” I told her.

“Have you talked to Gunz about it?” Nazi asked.

“Not yet.”

“Well, you need to because the last time I went along with one of your plans without telling Jinx, he had me in the dog house for a week.”

“I was wondering why you never told me what happened once Jinx found out about Shirley and Dennis.”

“He was mad because I kept it from him. He felt like I should’ve been the one to tell him, instead of him finding out from Gunz. I should’ve told him; I just thought we was keeping what happened between us girls and that dude.”

“Anything I do, Gunz will know about it because it’s a respect factor.”

“I hear that. But anywho, I hope you’re going to be ready to leave for Atlanta in a couple of days.” Nazi smiled.

“Of course, I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I’m so proud of you, Nazi. Have you thought about what you want to do next?” I fixed her a Philly cheesesteak and sat her plate in front of her.

“This looks good, but no, I haven’t thought of what I wanted to do next. I guess once I have my degrees in hand, whatever is next will come to me.”

“Whatever you decide to do, I will have your back a hundred percent.”

“I know you will and I got yours.” She smiled.

We continued talking about everything while we ate. When we were finished, Nazi said she had to go meet up with Jiselle because they were going out. I acted as if I was fake hurt at how close the two of them started to become. Nazi waved me off and said we would do something together soon. I busied myself cleaning up the kitchen. Then grabbed my kindle, so I could sit on the couch and read. Nazi kept telling me I needed to invest in a kindle and start reading these urban fiction books. I broke down and finally bought one, along with at least fifty books. I had a couple of authors that I liked but all the ones I loved seemed to be signed to someone named Tiece. Whenever Tiece Mickens, Tiece, or Miss Mickens was at the top of the book, I already knew it was going to be a banger. I was halfway into

when Gunz walked in the door. I looked at him, he winked at me, then walked towards the back. I didn’t pay him no mind because this was something that he did often. Whenever he would come in from handling BRM business, he would go straight to the bedroom to wind down before talking to me. He claimed it was because he didn’t want to bring the tension from his business into our relationship. I respected that, so I just waited until he was ready to be bothered.

Ten minutes later, he came walking into the living room in nothing but a pair of basketball shorts and Gucci flip flops. He snatched my kindle out my hand, picked me up, then sat back down with me on his lap.

“You cook?” he asked.

“Yeah, I cooked; your food it’s in the microwave. Next time, ask me to put the kindle down.”

“Ight, you got that ma. How was your day?”

“It was okay. I went over a couple of things with the interior decorator for my office. Everything should be good by the time we get back from Atlanta.” I smiled.

“That’s wassup,” he said, kissing me.

“How was yours? You seem a little stressed.”

“It was ight; nothing much popped off. I made sure that every job we got was fulfilled in a timely manner and that was it. I honestly don’t do much but supervise people. I only get my hands dirty when it’s necessary. I am trying to open a new lane though. The shit we do isn’t typical, but at the same time, a couple of people can tap into the margin that we are in. I wanna find something that niggas really ain’t fucking with.”

“I’m sure it will come to you when the time is right. I need to talk to you about something.”

“You pregnant?” he asked, looking at me strangely.

“Why you looking at me like that?”

“Because we don’t need to be having a baby right now. Too much shit is going on,” he stressed.

“First of all, nothing is honestly going on, but if it makes you happy, I’m not pregnant.”

“Don’t look like that; fix your face. What you want to talk to me about then?” I decided to let the whole baby issue go, at least for now.

“I think we should kill Brett.”

“Kill him for what? He’s not even making any noise.”

“For all we know, he’s doing that on purpose. I don’t know much about Brett, besides he’s very calculated. The most common mistake in history is underestimating your opponent. For all you know, you may have won the battle while Brett is plotting on how to win the war.”

“That’s my bitch!” he smiled.

“Wait, what?” I asked confused.

“I taught you well. You’re right; I should never underestimate my enemy, but at the same time, never underestimate your skill.”

“I’m not underestimating my skill; I just rather get him before he tries to get-” My phone started ringing, interrupting me. I picked it up from the coffee table and saw that it was a blocked number.

“Answer it and put it on speaker,” Gunz told me.

“Hello,” I said.

“Who is this” the person on the end of the phone said.

“No, you called my phone, so who are you?” I spat.

“Lacianne?” the person said in a questioning tone. “Lacianne, you did this!” he roared. At that moment, I recognized who the voice belonged to.

“Brett, what the hell you doing calling me!” I looked at Gunz to see his reaction but he just had a smile on his face.

“What the hell am I doing calling you? You killed my fucking mother! It was either you or that thug you call a man!” he yelled.

I quickly put the phone on mute for a second and looked at Gunz.

“Handle it!” was all he said. I nodded my head and took the phone off mute.

“What did you expect was going to happen once I found out your family called the hit out on my parents?”

“You got a lot of fucking nerve! Do you not know who the fuck I am?”

“No, do you not know who the fuck I am. I’m not the same Lacianne that you knew but I’m more than willing to show you the new me.”

“Bitch, you think I’m fucking scared of you! You are the same weak-minded whore that was going to marry, all so they can meet their precious mommy. You may think you’re tough because you have that gorilla backing you but, don’t forget, my reach goes a lot further than yours. The same way you sent my mother’s body to me in pieces is the same way that nigga is going to receive yours.”

“Say less.” Instead of hanging up my phone, I threw it at the wall.

“You ight?” Gunz asked me.

“Does it look like I’m fucking alright? You sent him his mother’s body chopped up?”

“The fuck you acting like you’re mad for because I killed his mother. The old bitch was going to die sooner or later; I just sped up the process.” Gunz shrugged.

“Why did you give him my number then?”

“I gave him your number because he is your kill. Brett needs to be handled by you.”

I went to get up but Gunz pulled me right back down, tightening his grip. “You’re not going fucking nowhere. You can be in your feelings all you want, but we are about to talk about this.”

“Gunz, what is there to talk about? You killed the boy’s mom, chopped her body up, then sent her to him with my number.”

“So the fuck what? Get over that shit. You want Brett dead and now is your chance. You’re either going to man up and handle it or I can handle it for you.” Gunz lifted me off his lap and threw me on the couch. I watched him walk away, trying to figure out what his angle was.

I wasn’t so mad at the fact that he killed Brett’s mother; I could honestly careless about that. I just didn’t understand why he would send my mother along with the body. No scenario I came up with made sense. If that wasn’t enough, Brett reminded me of how weak I used to be and, for some reason, that bothered me. It was as if Brett was trying to intimidate me but he had another thing coming. Gunz wanted me to man up and I was about to do him one better; I was about to boss up.

Chapter 37: Gunz

Laci was tripping; I woke up the next morning alone in bed, and when I went into the kitchen, there wasn’t breakfast either. I went to call her but decided against it because she was acting like a brat. She wanted to get mad at me over straight bullshit.

I took a hot shower, got dressed, and went downstairs to Jinx house. I didn’t bother knocking on the door; I just let myself in using a key.

“Jinx, where you at son?” I called out.

“Right here nigga, why you yelling? Matter of fact, why are you in my house without knocking.”

“Nigga, I got a key for a reason.” I laughed.

“Remind me to take that back from you. Wassup, why you down here so early?”

“Laci bugging,” I sighed.

“What did you just say about my girl?” Jiselle asked, walking into the living room.

“So, nobody is going to knock to get into my house. What if I was fucking?” Jinx complained.

“Fucking is reserved for the bedroom; the only time you should do it around the house is when no one else has the key.” Jiselle laughed, sitting across from us. “Now, what was you saying about my girl?” she asked, eyeing me.

“Since when did you and her become so close?” I questioned.

“When you see a person repeatedly burn someone, you have no choice but to find respect for that person. I wouldn’t say we are best friends but I don’t hate her either. Now, what were you saying about her?”

“Nothing, she bugged out on me last night because Brett called her about that shit I had done to his mother.”

“What did you do to his mother?” Jiselle asked.

“I chopped her ass up and sent her to Brett, along with Laci’s number.”

“You didn’t!” Jiselle grasped.

“Gunz, I know you got dropped a couple of times on your head but what the hell made you think that was cool?”

“Y’all acting like I did something wrong. Y’all may not understand it but this is going to toughen Laci up some more. Jiselle, you did a good job with Laci and I’m grateful for that. I just want to make sure that she can handle things when she’s under pressure.”

“If anyone can understand where you’re coming from, it would be me. I tested Laci too, to make sure that she could handle herself and guess what? She exceeded my expectations. But at some point, we need to break the cycle.”

“This is going to sound funny as hell but she’s right.” Jinx laughed.”

“Jinx, don’t try to play me like I’m dumb,” she spat.

“No, I’m not saying that you’re dumb; I just never saw us agreeing on anything. You know how you can be.”

“Fuck you.” She laughed.

“And there is the bitch.” He laughed.

I shook my head at the two of them because they were crazy as hell. “What cycle are the two of y’all talking about?”

“The cycle of our parents. They put us through tests and training, all to make use stronger people. I’m not saying we ended up bad people but we all have our own issues. The same thing our parents are putting us through is the same thing we are putting Laci through. Yeah, she was a little whiney and a cry baby, but she is a genuine person.

I’m not saying the training didn’t help her because the Laci I saw that night with them two old white people was a beast. All I’m saying is that you don’t have to keep testing her. The more you put her through trials and tribulations, the more you’re going to lose her,” Jiselle explained.

“When the fuck did you become doctor Phil?” Jinx asked.

“About the same time you became a nerd, nigga,” Jiselle told him.

“On a more serious note, Jiselle is right. For so long, we allowed our parents’ ways to dictate our lives. At some point, enough has to be enough. I don’t know about you but when the time’s right, I’m trying to start a family with Nazi, and I’m not trying to raise my kids the way we were raised.”

“Starting a family is the furthest thing from my mind because all I care about right now is money,” Jiselle joked.

“I get what the both of you are saying. Let me call this girl before she do something I’m going to regret.”

“You already pushed her; you might as well let her do what she’s going to do now.” Jiselle shrugged.

“Don’t listen to her; go find that girl,” Jinx said.

“Is Nazi with her?” I asked.

“No, Nazi in the back sleeping. Her ass didn’t go to sleep until five this morning.”

I pulled out my phone, calling Laci, but her shit went right to voicemail. I called back five more times and it was still going to voicemail.

“Jiselle, call Laci and see if she answers for you.”

“I don’t even have her number to call her. Just let her handle her business and, when it’s done, I’m sure she’s going to come to you.”

“Fuck all that Jinx; track her fucking phone. I’ll be back within the hour; be ready to roll out when I get back,” I told them.

I left out and went back to my crib to change. Everything my brother and sister said was true. The same thing my parents did to us, I was unconsciously doing it to Laci. I fell for Laci because of who she was and yes, I wanted to her to become stronger but I didn’t want to change her. Hearing Jinx say he wanted a family had me thinking about what I said to Laci yesterday about having a baby. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to have a baby with Laci; my parents were the issue. They are trying to change their ways now but, to me, it’s a little too late. I was a grown ass man and no longer needed the love and affection of my parents.

All I honestly needed was the love and affection from Laci. I picked up my phone again, calling her and hoping she would answer.

“Gunz, what do you want?” she sighed, answering on the first ring.

“Laci, where the hell are you?” I asked.

“Didn’t you tell me I have to either man up or let you handle the problem? Well, I’m manning up and handling the problem myself.”

“Laci, I didn’t mean that shit, ight. Just chill and wait for me to get there.”

“Too late Gunz. I’ll see you when I get home,” she said, hanging up the phone.

“FUCK!” I yelled.

I just hoped I got to Laci in time before something happened to her because if Brett ended up hurting her, a nigga was going to be all fucked up.
