Patti, I've got to give you some sobering news: Dainty
June ran away! She took a part in Spiderman: The
Musical.

PATTI

What!?!

[LAURA runs onto the stage.]

LAURA

Mamma Patti, I just heard the news. It's time to let go,
Mama Patti. We all got our Tonys. Let's call it quits.

BOYD

I can make fifty-two dollars a week at the Roundabout,
doing obscure revivals.

LAURA

You can stay mostly at home on your Connecticut farm
and sometimes do cute little supporting parts in shows
like Noises Off.

PATTI

Never! I'm never giving up this part. Do you think I am
going to let Sutton Foster play Mama Rose in the next
annual revival? I ain't quittin'! Ever!

"Glitter and Be Glib"

[Lights up on KRISTIN CHENOWETH, wearing a
dazzling "Glinda the Good Witch"gown and holdinga
magic wand.]

KRISTIN

And yet sometimes, when I'm reflective-which is
hardly ever-I say to myself, "Kristin Chenoweth, do
you miss the glamour of Broadway? Or do you want to
sell out to the tawdry world of Hollywood?" So here I
am, on television, my heart breaking. Forced to glitter,
forced to be glib ...
