Dillon slowly pulled out of Adam’s embrace, not wanting to neglect his friend too much. Adam bent down and kissed Dillon softly before he got away completely. “How was your day?” he asked.
“It was good. Cody and I have been hanging since we got off work. Oh! That reminds me, I have something for you,” Dillon told him. “Come with me!”
Adam followed Dillon into the kitchen where he’d placed the gift on the counter. His face lit up when he saw the present. “These are seriously for me?” Adam picked up the box with the charcoals and colored pencils and examined them.
“Yeah, Cody took me to this great art supply place so I could get good quality stuff.”
Adam set the box back onto the counter and flipped through the drawing pad. “These are amazing, Dil, but you shouldn’t have wasted your money on me!”
“Why not? You spend your money on me all the damn time. I just wanted to do something nice for you.” Dillon almost felt like pouting.
Adam tilted his head to the side and stared at Dillon. “You’re so cute when you’re being all indignant and stuff.” This caused Dillon to let out a huff which did nothing but make Adam’s smile bigger. Dillon was ready to put his hands on his hips and get really dramatic when Cody popped his head around the corner.
“Hey, I think I’m going to head out,” he told them.
Dillon gave Adam a look that clearly told him their conversation wasn’t over. “You don’t have to leave if you want to finish the movie.”
“No, it’s okay. I can always watch it online,” Cody insisted. “It’s getting late anyway.”
Adam walked over to where Cody was standing. “Thanks for helping Dillon with my gift today. I love it, and it was incredibly nice of you.”
“Hey, man, no problem. I’m glad you liked it, because he really just wanted to do something special for you.” Cody tried to stress that part to help Dillon prove his point, which Dillon really appreciated in that moment. He walked over and slipped his arm around Adam’s waist, reveling in the comfort of being near his boyfriend.
“Thanks for hanging out with me today. I had a lot of fun.”
Cody nodded his head. “Anytime. You’ve got my number now, so remember if you need a ride to work or just want someone to hang out with some night all you have to do is hit me up.”
“I won’t forget,” Dillon promised.
“Have fun at the concert tomorrow night. I’ll see you Thursday at work, right?” Cody had walked over to the front door and was pulling his shoes on.
“Yup, I’m there twelve to eight on Thursday.”
“Sweet! See ya then,” Cody told him before he left.
Adam locked the front door behind Cody and peered out the small window pane, watching as Cody crossed the street to his car, and then he shut the porch light off.
He glanced at the clock on the cable box in the living room. It was only a little after nine, but he was beat. “Should we get into bed before you finish chewing me out?” he teased Dillon.
Dillon glared at Adam for real. “You really don’t get it do you?”
Adam sighed. He hadn’t wanted to start a fight. “Can I shower first or do we need to do this now?”
Dillon knew he needed Adam’s undivided attention for the conversation so he acquiesced. “No, go ahead and shower. I can wait.”
So Adam did.
When there was nothing left for him to do but face the music, he exited the bathroom and walked over to the bed where Dillon was waiting patiently as he’d said he would. “Hey…”
Dillon gave Adam a shy smile. “Hey.”
Adam climbed onto the bed and sat in front of Dillon so that their knees were touching. “Listen, I don’t want you to think that I was being ungrateful in the kitchen. I absolutely loved the gift. It’s one of the most thoughtful gifts anyone has ever given me, but you’ve been working so hard to save up your money that it made me feel guilty to see you spending it on me and not yourself.”
Dillon had been geared up for a battle, but hearing Adam’s explanation took the fight out of him. “Here’s the thing, Adam. I’m not a little kid anymore, and I’ve been taking care of myself for as long as I can remember. I don’t need you to decide what I should and shouldn’t spend my money on. I might be a little less inclined to spend my money, because I never really had money to spend on anything that wasn’t completely necessary, but I am competent enough to make my own decisions. Sometimes I want to pay for dinner for both of us without you waving me off like I’m insignificant.”
Adam’s heart sank. He hadn’t realized that he’d made Dillon feel like that, and it made Adam really dejected. “I’m so fucking sorry, Dillon. That was never my intention. I don’t think you are insignificant or unable to make your own decisions at all! I think back to all of the things you missed out on growing up, and it hurts me to know you went through that. All I’ve been trying to do is make up for some of that by spoiling you a little. It makes me feel good to do things for you that no one else ever cared enough to do, because I fucking care.”
Dillon was right there to make sure Adam didn’t take all the blame on himself. “I know that was never your intention, so don’t get me wrong, Adam. You’ve made me feel special for the first time in my life, and I appreciate that. I know you care about me─I don’t doubt that at all─but you have to realize that when you blow off my attempts at doing nice things for you, it puts us on an uneven keel in my eyes. I already feel like I owe you more than I’ll ever be able to repay you, for everything you’ve done for me, so when I want to give you a gift, just say thank you. Don’t tell me I shouldn’t spend my money on you. Or if I want to buy us lunch, dinner, ice cream, or something else, please just let me. I won’t always want to, but don’t stop me if I do, okay?”
“Okay, I’ll try to work on that. I’ve always been bad about trying to pay for things, even with my friends, but please try to realize that you don’t owe me anything. I’ve only done things that I’ve wanted to do. I spent time with you in the beginning because I thought you were cute, and I really enjoyed our conversations. Then as we got to know each other, I only did things that most friends would do for one another. Now, the things I do are things that couples do. Please don’t feel like you aren’t as important to this relationship as I am, because if it weren’t for you having the balls to get on that bus and come here without knowing what was going to happen, I wouldn’t have you in my life. That’s all you, Dil.” Adam scooted up the bed so that his torso was almost even with Dillon’s, except he was still facing the opposite direction. He stared into a sea of blue, trying to communicate without words for a moment. “I’m so fucking glad you came to Omaha.”
Dillon swallowed loudly. “I’m glad I came, too,” he whispered. An uncontrollable need to be loved by this man overcame Dillon. “Kiss me,” he demanded.
That was a demand that Adam would never deny his lover. He descended on Dillon’s lips, taking everything that Dillon was offering and giving everything he had to give at the same time. Dillon grabbed Adam’s hands and laced their fingers together. Adam leaned backwards until he lay flat on the bed, pulling Dillon on top of him. Dillon rested his head on Adam’s chest, directly over his heart, and Adam wrapped his arms around Dillon so he could hold him tight. “Thank you for understanding where I was coming from,” Dillon mumbled softly.
Adam kissed the top of Dillon’s head. “I always want you to talk to me if you feel like I’m doing something that makes you uncomfortable, or if I’m just doing something you don’t like. I love you, Dil, and I don’t ever want you to feel like we aren’t equals in this relationship.”
“I love you, too,” he whispered. It would have been so easy for Dillon to fall asleep right there in Adam’s embrace, but as if right on cue, his damn arm started itching again. He pulled away from Adam who seemed confused.
“I’ve got to go wash this thing, or it’s going to drive me insane,” Dillon offered as an explanation. “Someone…” he emphasized that word to make sure Adam would know he was referring to him, “forgot to tell me all about how the healing process is one big, itchy fucking party!” Dillon shot a mock glare at him.
Adam busted out laughing. “It’s an open wound! What did you expect when I stuck needles into your skin? It’s not meant to be all rainbows and puppies!”
Dillon huffed teasingly and walked into the bathroom with a stupid grin on his face. He was prepared for the worst when he went into that discussion, but Adam made it easy for him by understanding and making him feel justified in his feelings. He felt more like an equal partner than ever and that was important to him. Another thought occurred to him, but he decided to talk to Adam about that as soon as he exited the bathroom. He decided to just jump in the shower in Adam’s bathroom. Wait… it was his bathroom too now that they shared a room, he had to remind himself. That random thought put the stupid grin back on his face as he stripped down and turned the shower on. He needed to remember to transfer the rest of his stuff into their room in the morning.

After he washed up and dried off, he applied his anti-bacterial ointment to the tattoo and walked buck-assed naked into their room. Adam waggled his eyebrows at Dillon. “Hello, sexy!” he cat-called, then he whistled at him, sufficiently turning Dillon’s face red.
“I decided to shower last minute and didn’t have any clean clothes with me.” Dillon bent over to dig in one of his drawers for a pair of boxers. Adam couldn’t resist the sight of Dillon bent over, bared to him like that. He was only a mere human after all.
“Oh, God!” Dillon cried out when he unexpectedly felt Adam’s warm, wet tongue begin to attack his hole with flat strokes. His legs tried to buckle under him but Adam braced him with his shoulders. “What are you doing to me?” Dillon asked, his voice wavering. Technically, he knew what Adam was doing but he’d never experienced anything quite so pleasurable in his life.
“Eating. Your. Ass,” Adam replied breathlessly between each pass of his tongue. He’d wanted a chance at Dillon’s ass for quite some time but hadn’t wanted to overwhelm Dillon with too much at once. He was done resisting.
“FUCK!” Dillon pushed his ass back against Adam’s face, reveling in the insane amount of electricity that felt like it was flowing through his veins. Adam breached Dillon’s hole, pushing as far into his body as he could. Dillon collapsed onto the dresser, not having the strength to hold himself up any longer. He was so hard he couldn’t stand it. “I need you to touch me,” he moaned. “Please.”
Adam wasn’t about to deny him. He pulled away long enough to spin Dillon around and back him up against the wall next to the dresser. Then he wrapped his hand around both of their cocks and began stroking. A string of profanities flew out of Dillon’s mouth as he came hard and fast. There was no way for him to hold back after having Adam’s tongue inside his ass. Adam was almost there when Dillon took it upon himself to bite Adam’s neck right where the tendon curved up from his shoulder. “HOLY SHIT!” Adam shouted as he came against Dillon’s stomach, pumping out every last drop until they both were nothing but a cum-streaked mess.
Adam tried to hold Dillon’s weight but he was too drained after his release. “That was hot,” he mumbled into Dillon’s neck.
“I need another shower.” Dillon chuckled.
“Well, what do you expect from me when you tease me like that?” Adam asked deviously.
Dillon’s eyes went wide in disbelief. “You can’t blame me. I was only looking for a pair of boxers.”
“You bent over the dresser with your ass on display like it was an offering. I couldn’t help myself.”
Dillon, with the help of a sudden burst of energy, pushed off of the wall. “C’mon, let’s shower.” His grin was devilish and full of mischief as he threw Adam his most enticing look and shook his ass a little before walking toward the bathroom. Adam chased him down easily, smacked that ass of his, and had fun teaching him a lesson in the shower.

Dillon was buzzing with energy for the entirety of the day as he anxiously waited for time to pass before the Coldplay concert. Adam went into work for the afternoon but had arranged for Matt to take the only appointment he’d had scheduled for that night. It was one of the perks of being the boss, he told Dillon that morning. Getting time off was pretty easy which was in Dillon’s favor. Dillon’s stomach was churning, he was so excited, but that meant he had extra energy to burn during the afternoon so he decided to move the rest of his stuff from his old bedroom into their shared room. Adam had made plenty of room for him and Dillon migrated the rest of his stuff from the bathroom in the hallway to the one that they now cohabitated.
He was ready to go a good hour before Adam arrived at the house. “My God you look gorgeous,” Adam purred as he wrapped his arms around Dillon when he got home. Dillon was wearing his best jeans and a tight fitting black Coldplay t-shirt which had previously been loose on him. All the stockroom work he’d been doing, lifting boxes and unloading the trucks, had beefed him up a bit. Adam loved the way his muscles had filled out. He squeezed one of Dillon’s biceps. “Dude, you’re going to be more defined than me soon. I need to hit the gym again.”
Dillon blushed at the compliment. He was still working on accepting those more graciously. “Thanks,” he answered shyly. “Do you need to shower or…”
“Yeah, I’m going to shower. I’m covered in sweat and stray ink. I’ll only be a few minutes though. Will you let Parker out before we leave?”
Dillon nodded and kissed Adam quickly before walking toward the kitchen. “Parker!” he hollered. “Outside!” Parker came bounding into the kitchen barking excitedly. He knew that word well.
Dillon stepped outside with him to watch him run around the yard so he didn’t have to go on his chain. He still couldn’t believe that this was his life now with an amazing boyfriend, a perfect little house to live in, and the sweetest damn dog he could’ve hoped for. It was amazing to him that he actually had a dog now, well, technically Parker was still Adam’s dog, but Dillon took care of him just as often and had started to claim him also. He couldn’t help the smile that graced his face. He must’ve been staring off into space because Adam scared the shit out of him when he walked out the sliding door into the back yard.
Adam was grinning from ear-to-ear, staring at Dillon with that look on his face. The one that said he was undeniably happy about something. “What?” Dillon asked.
“You moved all your stuff into our room.” Adam’s voice was wistful. He had begun to think that Dillon was never going to make that final move.
“I did,” Dillon confirmed. “Figured it was about time.”
Adam laughed. “Yeah, I thought you were going to leave me hanging forever with that.”
Dillon leaned toward Adam and bumped his shoulder into Adam’s arm. “Nope, I’m all yours now, and you’re all mine.”
“I’ve been all yours since we first met, Dillon. Who are you trying to kid? You grabbed my heart from day one and never let go.” Adam took Dillon by the hand and squeezed reassuringly. “I love you.”
Dillon would never get tired of hearing those words after years of never hearing them. “I love you, too.”
“Inside, Parker!” Adam hollered as he opened the door. Parker obeyed the command and Adam led Dillon back inside.
“Do you want to go get dinner before we head over to the concert?” he asked Dillon.
