“I’m just sayin’,” I called out to her retreating back. “So, did he like the Falcons season tickets you got him?” I asked when she came back with her soda.

“Yes, only he thought I was supposed to go with him. I told him maybe a game or two, but not the whole damn season. I hate sports.”

“I know Mace, but you’re willing. So that’s good,” I said, still smiling at my friend.

She wanted to act like he was like all the others, but I could tell she liked Mitch more than she wanted to admit.

“So, you and Seth still didn’t exchange anything?”

“No,” I replied, shaking my head. “I mean the guy has his own plane. What was I supposed to buy him?
A shirt from Express?” I asked.

The bigger issue, that I didn
’t want to admit, was that I didn’t really know Seth well enough to know what he might like. On top of that, I hadn’t seen him since our date, so there hadn’t been chance to give him anything anyway. We’d talked on the phone a couple of times, but he’d not been around to pick me up from work. During those calls, sadly, he hadn’t made any mention of seeing me again.

“I don
’t know, Hun, I’m sure he’d appreciate whatever,” she replied, kicking off her shoes.

Macy and I may have met the guys on the same day, but her relationship was leaps and bounds ahead of where I was with Seth. Hell, I couldn
’t even call what I had with Seth a relationship. I was a little jealous of that fact, and it wasn’t just the lack of physical I was jealous of, it was their connection. When she and Mitch were together, they just clicked. They always looked so relaxed around each other, and even when she made a point to make sure I was included, I felt like the third wheel when he was over.

“Maybe.
Think I should invite him over for Christmas? I hate to think he’d be spending it alone since he’s an only child and his parents aren’t around any longer.”

Macy had to work the day after Christmas, so we weren
’t going to Charlotte this year. Patrick was gone to Vegas for the week so Kerrin had given me the day after off since we didn’t have any current projects going.

“I don
’t see why not.”

Later that evening, I tried to call Seth to invite him over for Christmas. His phone went right to voicemail, so I had to leave a message. I
’d never asked him about being married, so that worry was still there. My mind had gone through various reasons why he hadn’t attempted anything with me more times than I liked to admit. I always came up with the same two conclusions: one, he was married; and two, he wasn’t attracted to me. Both options left me feeling despondent.

As I expected, Seth didn
’t show for Christmas dinner, but he did call. When I went back to work, he was once again there waiting to drive me home every day. He was always polite, and asked about my day. The only time he’d touched me was when he would release my hair from its confinement. After the third day, I knew he wanted it that way, but I would leave it up deliberately so that he would have to do it. I loved the feelings of his fingers as they worked through my hair, and it gave me a way to have him touch me.

His subtle flirting continued, and I let him set the pace of things since I was still confused over what transpired between us in New York. I also continued to chicken out on directly asking about his marital status. I hinted around to it, or thought I did, but Seth never took the bait. My last attempt was to invite him out for New Year
’s Eve. Macy and Mitch were going to some swanky club, and she insisted I come along. I didn’t want to be the third wheel, so I thought inviting Seth would be the perfect solution. Sadly, he declined my invitation, saying he was unavailable. I tried to get out of going after that, but Macy refused to let me stay home and bring in the New Year eating rocky road ice cream in front of the TV.

I now sat alone in the VIP booth watching too many people try to crowd onto the dance floor.

Calida poured herself a third glass of champagne as she sat alone in the booth. She was disappointed when I declined to accompany her this evening. I
’d considered saying yes, but when she told me the location, I knew watching her would be more enjoyable. Her friend walked over, pulling her arm. Calida reluctantly got up from the leather sofa, pulling down the too-short, tight, black dress she wore, as the friend led her towards the dance floor.

I lost track of them, momentarily, in the sea of writhing bodies that filled the space. When I found them again, she was laughing at something the friend whispered in her ear. Calida
’s hips moved in perfect time with the rhythm of the music as she danced. Watching the way she moved caused me to get hard. She was relaxed, confident…sensual. The dress inched its way up her already overly-exposed thighs when she moved, and she fought a losing battle to keep it pulled down.

Calida was enjoying herself, smiling and laughing with her friend. Then I saw him, easing his way through the crowd, making his way over to her. He put his hands on her hips, pulling her back against him without warning. I stood from my stool at the bar, ready to intervene, but stopped myself. She couldn
’t know I was here. The blonde guy spun Calida around, his filthy hands grabbing onto her ass, as he continued to grind himself against her. Calida attempted to pry his hands free. With the help of her friend and the male companion that accompanied them, Calida gained her freedom. She walked as quickly as she could through the crowd back to the safety of the booth with her friend following close behind her.

‘Cuse me,” said a somewhat drunk brown haired girl. She propped herself up on my shoulder in an attempt to steady herself. “I’ve been tryin’ to get ‘nother drink but not havin’ any luck,” she continued and gave me a little pout.

She pushed her chest out slightly, making sure I had a good view of her exposed cleavage. The shirt she wore left very little to the imagination, and the skirt, even less. Her face was overly made up as she smiled at me with extremely red lips. With my recent disposal of Pet and the way I
’ve denied myself Calida, I was in need of some relief.

“What are you drinking?”

Her smile broadened, “Black Russian.”

As I got the bartender
’s attention, I saw her turn and give a thumbs up to her friends that stood a little further down the bar.
A new one, just what you need
. Handing the girl her drink, I knew she’d only be for the night. I continued to watch Calida while the girl all but pulled out my dick to suck me off right there at the bar.

Calida and her friends spent the remaining time hanging out in the safety of the VIP booth, laughing and having fun. At times, she looked lonely watching her friend interact with her date. Glancing at my watch, I saw it was thirty minutes till midnight.

“Do you live close?” I asked the girl as she danced standing between my legs.

“Yes I do,” she responded with a smile.

Closing out my tab, I took her hand and led her out of the overcrowded club. She was a one-nighter. She served one purpose only, to relieve the ever-building tension in my pants. Fifteen minutes later, we arrived at her small, Midtown studio apartment.

“Would you care for something to drink?” she asked.

“I didn’t come here to drink,” I replied, leading her over to the purple futon.

Taking a seat, I tugged at her arm so that she was kneeling between my legs. With a coy smile, she unbuttoned my pants, retrieving the prize she was after. Those pouty red lips closed around my twitching dick, and I let out a groan. Placing my hand on her head, I gave gentle pressure, encouraging her to take more. Her tongue swirled around the tip before sucking on it a little too hard, but I didn
’t let that distract me. With her free hand, she cupped and massaged my balls, squeezing them lightly. I was close--until my phone started buzzing in my pocket. I pulled out the annoying device with the intention of tossing it to the side, but I couldn’t help but glance at the text displayed on the screen.

Happy New Year :)

Seeing the message from Calida brought a smile to my face.

Gripping the girl
’s hair, I kept her in place as I pushed my hips forward, finding the relief I was after. Pulling away, she sat up smiling as she wiped the side of her mouth.

“I
’ll be right back then the fun can really start,” she said, leaning in to kiss me, but I turned my head, forcing her to make contact with my cheek instead.

Readjusting my clothing, I picked up my keys and phone, exiting her place while she was in the bathroom.

Chapter 18

“So when
’s the next date?” Macy asked as we continued to prime my walls for paint.

I was finally working on my room so it would reflect more of my personality. Since it would be the smaller, and cheaper, project, we opted to do it first instead of the main living area. I wanted to not overspend until I felt more secure in the job with Patrick.

“Tomorrow,” I answered happily.

Seth had asked me out again finally just as I was starting to think it was never going to happen. I told myself since things had only been platonic, I wasn
’t doing anything wrong. It was a weak excuse, but it bought me more time.

“Fun, where to?”

“I’m not sure, but at least this time I know he’s coming.”

“Oh, so he may have plans to whisk you off to Paris or something.”

I flicked my paintbrush at her, splattering her shirt and face in the orange tinted primer. “No, you smart ass.”

“What?
I’m just sayin’. No guy has taken me on such an extravagant first date.”

“That makes two of us. But Mitch is a doctor. You can
’t tell me he hasn’t taken you to nice places.”

“Yeah he has, but mostly it
’s his house or here,” she said laughing.

I could only laugh as well.
She didn’t really care about ‘dating’; her things were always casual.

“Well, I
’m sure if you told him you wanted to go somewhere he’d take you.”

“Probably, but he likes eating in.”
She winked, and I pretended to gag over her double meaning.

“You are the biggest perv,” I said once I
’d recovered.

“Maybe, but you love me for it,” she replied, blowing me a kiss. “And so does Mitch, he was very into the idea of the show tomorrow.”

I just rolled my eyes at her. She’d seen an ad in Creative Loafing for an erotic art show somewhere near the Little Five Points area. She tried to get me to go, but I convinced her she and Mitch would enjoy it more.

Cranking up the music, we finished painting and wallpapering my room.
I was pleased with the result. It felt more like me already. My new furniture was supposed to arrive within the week. Until then, Macy and I would be sharing a bed but only after she washed her sheets in super-hot water.

The next morning, I sat on the bed watching Macy pick out her outfit for the evening. It was only eleven in the morning, and her date wasn
’t until seven. But like always, it was a long, drawn out process to pick out just the right thing. In comparison, it took me all of twenty minutes to decide on which jeans and shirt I wanted to wear. The only thing Seth told me was to wear comfortable clothing, which was perfect for me. Macy insisted on doing my hair and makeup, but I didn’t mind. I liked doing a little extra to look nice for him.

“Considering the nature of the show, I think you should definitely go with the leather pants,” I said as she dropped another vetoed pair of pants onto her bed.

“Great idea, Lee! Why didn’t I think of that?” she asked, shimming out of her current pants to slip into the black, Italian leather ones. She gave a few turns in the mirror to check herself out from all angles. “Perfect, man, you’re so helpful,” she said, turning to give me a big grin. “My ass looks fantastic! Mitch is going to love me in these.”

Macy
’s eyes would light up when she talked about Mitchell. She wasn’t ready to admit it, but I saw my friend doing the one thing she always said she wouldn’t do, falling in love. Mitch was a great guy, and I liked being around him…when he had his clothes on. He treated Macy great, and they had so much fun when they were together.

The sound of the doorbell saved me from sitting through the impending shirt selection. As I exited her room, I saw Seth through the glass pane on my front door. I wondered if there was going to come a time when my heart didn
’t skip a beat when I saw him.

“You’re early,” Calida said as she opened the door.

She wore the jeans and shirt she got in New York. Her face was lightly made up, and she
’d once again pulled her hair back.

“Am I?” I asked, checking my watch.

“Yeah, you said twelve. Are you trying to catch me off guard?” she asked playfully.

“Now why would I want to do that?”

Calida shrugged a little as she closed the door behind me.
