“Izzy I am so
proud of your restraint.

Alex doesn’t
even have a hand print on him.

Although
I would love to know why you had him pinned to the wall?”

Roni knew she was poking the bear, but she
was in the mood for some cheap entertainment.

Izzy stood
tall, well as tall as she possibly could, shoved Alex out of her way and walked
over to them until she was nose to nose, well nose to chest, with Derek.

“You should keep that thing you call a friend
in a cage instead of bringing him out.

Not only did he try to molest me when I came out of the bathroom, he
cheats at pool!” Izzy was jabbing Derek in the chest with her tiny pointer
finger.

To Derek’s credit, he was doing
a fantastic job not laughing at Izzy’s antics.

Roni on the
other hand lost it.

Laughing so hard she
was doubled over, grabbing her stomach.

Once she regained control she turned to her small friend.

“So that’s what this is about! You could care
less if he molested you, it’s the cheating at pool that bothers you! Big
mistake Alex.

Izzy takes games very
seriously, no matter what she plays.

Cheating will set her off like nothing else. A little hint, it is better
just to let her win, when she loses it’s not pretty.”

“That’s not
true! I can lose, sort of.

But this has
nothing to do with that, it has to do with
how
he was cheating! The walking hormone boy kept rubbing up against me while I was
lining up my shot and then the bastard grabbed my ass as I went for the
shot!”

Izzy was glaring at Alex as she
spoke, her hands flying around with each word.

“Had I known
that your friend here would pin me to the wall with the stick that fast after
grabbing her ass I would have done it sooner.”

Alex chuckled out.

“That was one
of the hottest things a girl has ever done.

And that is saying a lot considering the girls I have been around.” Alex
must be suicidal to stand that close to Izzy while he spoke those words.

Roni quickly
grabbed Izzy by the shoulders before she could draw blood.

“Do you not see the murderous look in her
eyes?

Or are you really that dumb?”

Roni could not believe she even had to ask
Alex these things.

Derek burst
out laughing, “I feel so cheap here, and I thought I was special when you
grabbed my ass when we played pool.

He
cheats at every game.

Like Izzy, he
hates to lose and likes to stack the deck in his favor.

Since the game you have been playing has been
tainted by Alex’s lack of ethics, let’s start a new game.

Guys versus girls or couples?

Your choice.” Derek was working hard to
diffuse the situation.

Roni appreciated
his attempt. The other two seemed to want to do him in now that he had referred
to them as a couple.

“Sounds fun,
but we better separate them. I am adding the rule that the Neanderthal cheater
has to sit on one of the bar stools when it is not his turn.

To eliminate temptation, and protect him from
Izzy ‘accidently’ beating him with her pool cue.” Roni suggested as she began
to rack the balls on the table.

She
looked up to see Derek staring down her shirt and Alex and Izzy trying to kill
each other with a look alone.

All she
wanted was a night out with her obsession and now she was stuck
babysitting.

Maybe she should just let
Izzy quietly murder Alex so that Derek and she can get back to what they
started at the table.

“So, what’s
the bet?”

Alex asked, hands in his front
pockets rocking back and forth on his heels. He did innocent well, but Roni had
a feeling he was going to ask for something outrageous.

“Do you mean
money?”

Roni asked, knowing that this
was not going to be about money.

“No, we have
plenty of that, let’s make it interesting.”

Alex’s voice had a dark husky tone to it now. “I think if we win each of
you girls, cooks one of us dinner, at our house.”

He smiled.

“I call
cooking for Derek.”

Izzy said low behind
Roni.

Roni looked at her friend and
shook her head.

“Fine, I will have to
look online to find out what Alex’s species eats.”

Izzy mumbled.

“Ok fine, we
will cook, what do we get?” Roni turned to Izzy. “What should we ask for?”

“I think we
need some yard work done, if we win you guys come over and clean the gutters
and trim the tree away from the house.”

Izzy stated, obviously picking items that would keep her and Alex in
separate areas of the house if they won.

“Deal.

Let’s play.”

Derek jumped in before Alex could say a word.

She was starting to see he was one who liked
to keep the peace.

“Ladies you break.”
Derek kissed her cheek and wished her luck before they started the game.

Izzy and Alex glared at them for being too
close to the enemy.

This should be fun,
not.

***

Derek could
not believe they won the game of pool.

The girls were really good, obviously having spent some time in pool
halls over the years.

He almost lost his
mind each time Roni bent over to take her shot.

He tried to stand behind her, nope that didn’t work her perfect ass was
right in his face.

He then tried to
stand in front of her, nope that didn’t work either, he could see straight down
her shirt to her very lacy red bra.

To
the side of her he got a view of her hips and perfect lips.

His mind was preoccupied by her body.

Before each shot he had to block her out and
concentrate. It was thanks to Alex that they won.

He didn’t even cheat this time.

Unless you count, arguing with Izzy every
time she went to take a shot cheating.

Derek leaned
in to Roni as they sat back at the booth eating and drinking.

“So what are you going to make me for
dinner?” He whispered in a husky voice.

He had to admit that he was sure Alex’s bet was going to backfire, but
once again his friend knew what he was doing.

“Well, first I
should warn you my cooking is subpar at best.

Izzy and I live like bachelors.

Living on take out and frozen meals.

I do make a mean stir fry though.”

She smiled at him, he loved that smile.

Hell for all he cared, they could order in as long as he got to spend
time with her.

“That sounds
great.

Is my kitchen safe or should I go
buy a few more fire extinguishers?”

He
laughed.

She blushed,
“Well…” Roni was looking down and chewing her nails at this point, “I have only
had a small kitchen fire. So a fire extinguisher isn’t necessary, but a supply
of baking soda may be in order.”

Derek laughed
hard.

Of course she had started a
kitchen fire.

“I will make sure to have
both fire extinguisher and baking soda on hand.”

“Now that we
have discussed safety issues, what night would you like me to cook?

How about next Saturday?” Roni looked and
sounded excited, which made his insides melt a little.

He was in over his head with this girl.

In a few short days of actually knowing her,
she had managed to get under his skin.

“Saturday
sounds great.

Oh crap, never mind, I’m
busy that night.

How about Friday
instead?”

His voice sounded desperate
and unsure of changing the day.

“I can’t.
Friday night is our monthly girl’s night out.”

He was relieved to hear the disappointment in her voice.

Which may make him an asshole, but hey, he
liked knowing she was as into him and he was into her.

He wanted to
tell her she could just make him breakfast tomorrow morning and they would call
it good.

He knew better though.

He wasn’t Alex after all.

He had never wanted a woman this badly.

Most of his recent dates, he used the term
loosely, he only wanted to be around for a few hours.

Just long enough to wine and dine them and
get them into their bed.

He
always
made an excuse as to why he
couldn’t spend the night, often blaming his work schedule.

This time, with this woman, he wanted to have
her in
his
bed all night.

Maybe even keep her there… forever.

He kissed her
chastely on the cheek.

“No worries,
we’ll figure out a time.

So what do you
think of my office?

I know you were only
there for a little bit today.

On Monday
I will show you around and introduce you, get you settled more. We need to
swing by HR too, get your paperwork and official ID.”

Now he was babbling.

Roni giggled
at him. Placing a hand on his shoulder as though to comfort him past his sudden
nervousness. “It is already ten times better than the last place I worked.

You should see the guy I work for now! Wow,
he has a great ass. I may have a difficult time staying focused with a man like
that around.”

Derek had to laugh.
“Well, I think your work focus will be fine.

From what I understand your new boss is a bit of an antisocial
workaholic. Sometimes his staff will even go days without actually seeing him,
only receiving mystical emails from him.”

He was going for self-deprecation, however, by the serious look on
Roni’s face he failed.

“You seriously
go weeks without talking to your staff, face to face? Well, that is the first
thing that is going to change.

Your new
admin is going to make sure you get out of your office at least once a day to
mingle with the villagers.” Roni said nodding emphatically.

“Um, yeah that
might scare some people.

It is best if I
stay in my office away from the village.” He was not known for having a winning
personality as a boss.

He preferred to
communicate via email, that way all his thoughts were organized.

Leaving no room to question what he was
asking them to do.

He looked away from
Roni’s penetrating stare.

“How do you
manage to get coffee or go to the bathroom without having at least one run in
with your staff? Plus, I saw you talk to staff today when we went into the
building.”

“Well to
answer your first question, I stop at the Starbucks to get my coffee.

And to see a pretty girl I like.” Ok, so he
may be laying it on thick, but he thought it might earn him some points.

“I have a private bathroom in my office. Thus
ending the need to leave my office on most days. As for this morning, that was
unusual.

I am usually there before
everyone and leave after everyone.

Most
of those people who stopped me only needed a signature or to tell me a quick
bit of information.

The staff rarely
sees me, only in meetings.”

Wow, he was
sounding very antisocial.

The truth was
he was antisocial but not to that extent.

He liked to hang out with his friends and sister. Beyond that safe
circle, his old high school insecurities crept in causing anxiety.

Now Derek was nervous, looking at his drink
as though it held the answers to the universe.

Once again,
Roni put his nerves to rest.

Placing her
hand over his on the table, “Well, luckily for you, your new admin is quite the
people person.

I am sure she can show
you the ropes and help you get to know your staff.”

Derek smiled
back at her.

He was simply amazed at how
quickly she put him at ease.

He leaned
in to kiss her.

His blood rushing
south.

His lips met hers gently.

He turned his body more in into hers.

Grabbing her hips, he drew her closer.

Roni ran her slender finger through his hair,
earning a groan of pleasure from him.

Roni moaned in return as his arms rubbed up and down her thighs.

Their tongues dancing together.

Just as Derek
was going to whisper that they should go back to his house, her hand slid from
his hair smashing into the plate on the table.

“Son of a bitch.” Roni cried out.

Moving away from her he saw that she had in fact broken the plate with
her hand.

A hand that was now
bleeding.

He grabbed the white napkin on
his lap, pressing it to her bloody hand.

“Ouch, that hurts.”
