They are about to cast another
spell when there is a trimmer in the deck they are standing on and a piece of
the floor the size of small dragon goes plunging into the ocean below. The
spell they have cast is working and the spell holding the wizard school to the
rock face of the mountain is starting to fall apart. If there are pieces
starting to fall away here then there must be more falling elsewhere.

Gavrie and the wizards have just
finished fighting off the last of the creatures. Gavrie has got the students
clearing off the deck of the dead creatures and is thinking it might be time to
find out what his four prize students are up to. He is about to go when they
feel the trimmers in the deck.

There are yells and as he turns
to where students are yelling he sees part of the deck fall away to the sea
below. He can still feel little trimmers and quickly decides it is time for
them all to get off the deck. ‘Clear the school and I want all teachers to
insure all students are out of the school buildings.’

He runs to the cave where there
are more head teachers working on the lances. Finding them still working and
not realizing what was happening, he yells to them to move. ‘Get everyone off
the school and deck now; they must start to head off around the mountain and to
the valley where it will be safe. I don’t know how long the school and deck
will be safe for, so get going.’

The teachers are off and running,
as no one is worried about getting personal items for it is just no longer safe
for them. This is the first time in centuries anything like this has ever
happened. Now he knows he needs to find out how it is happening and why. His
mind goes to Angel and his friends and where they might be.

Before he can worry about them he
must make sure that all wizards and students are safely off the school and
deck. Then he can worry about them but he won’t be long in going to find them.
Just then there is another trimmer but nothing breaks off this time. Just a few
rocks falling from the mountain above.

With all the attacks going on
lately he has a suspicion he knows who is responsible for what is happening.
But what he is really afraid of is Angel, Medwin, Maive and Shylyn are caught
up in all this. He knew he should have kept a closer eye on them but now it’s
too late. I just hope they have sense to keep out of trouble but then again
they are young, I must hurry and then go find them.

Angel and his friends are not
ready for the trimmer and a large hole opening up in the deck. They realize the
spell is failing and they are going to need to do something very soon before it
is too late. They had just fired a ball of fire at the other Renegade who was
trying to work his way behind them.

Angel whispers to the others an
idea he has. ‘If we come off full shields and work with our shields as we do in
the training room, we might be able to deflect some of his spell back at him or
the other Renegade still alive?’

Medwin and girls nod their heads
as they move their shields off full and have only half shields now. They are
about fire more spells when the Renegade they hit at the door come stumbling
out and firing spell in all directions. The kids use their shields to deflect
what they can at the Renegades.

They realize they are going to
need to do something soon for they can’t keep this up all the time. He looks
around and tries to think what they can do for this could go on for a while but
fears they will come out on the losing side. They need to do something very
soon.

The third Renegade had stopped
firing spells all over the place and the leader of them was talking to him. He
helped him through the door and out onto the deck where he could work better.
They could see he was still very groggy with the hits he had taken.

Angel looks at them and he draws
on Auras power and then he fires a large energy ball at the leader who only
just deflects it. Now they were starting to get him mad for the look in his
eyes was a mask of black anger. He summoned his magic and Angel could feel the
power he was drawing on.

The Renegade looked at them and
then fired a spell that pushed them to the edge of the hole in the deck. It was
very lucky they did not go in there which they realize is what the Renegade was
planning. They needed to do something and very soon, as he was stronger than
they were.

They moved away from the hole in
the deck and over by the entrance to the cave. There they try to get their
spells worked out. They decide to hit them with balls of fire before using
lighting bolts, ending with energy balls. They looked at the three before
walking out to meet them.

The Renegade had not fired
another spell at them as they had moved to the cave entrance. This puzzled them
for he is very powerful and should not be that exhausted. But Angel suddenly
had an answer to that which they had forgotten. ‘He’s been working on the spell
all day and so is just a little weaker. Now we have a chance to defeat him.’
Angel started to think on ways they could do that, for he is still very strong.

They first have to get rid of the
two other Renegades before they can try to tackle him. ‘We’re going to have to
get rid of the two weak Renegades first then we can concentrate all our energy
on the last one. He’s the problem one and we are going to need all our minds on
him and no one else.’ He was still working on what they could do.

Shylyn was very nervous as she
looked at the three Renegades. ‘I wish Gavrie was here to help us he would know
what to do.’ She looked at the others and could see in their faces the same
feelings.

‘Come on we knew we would be the
ones that were going to do this and we have at lest got rid of one Renegade,
now it’s a matter of working out which one next and how we do it.’ Medwin tried
to cheer the girls up as they were just a little scared.

Angel looked at them and could
see the fear was there in their faces and he was pretty sure they could see it
in his face. But he had to keep up the appearance of calm for if they let their
fear take over then they would lose and he did not want to lose his new
friends.

‘Come on we are strong, our
dragons are there for us and we are there for them.’ As he finished talking
Aura come into his mind as the others dragons went into their minds.

‘Angel it’ll be alright we are
here to help and all we need is a plain to remove the Renegades one at a time,
you can think of something and we’ll help.

What Is A DragonMage

As they slowly walked out onto
the deck and away from the hole they kept an eye on the Renegades who just
looked at them trying to work them out. They could see there was a puzzled look
on their faces or at lest the other two. The leader had a look, bordered on
plan hatred and it really made him look truly evil just like his spell.

Then all three Renegades throw
fire balls at them which they deflected very easily. The Renegades were testing
them to see what they had which made it easy for them to deflect with their
shields. Angel looked at the way they attacked and an idea comes to him.

He worked them around a bit more
and as he did so he told the others of his idea. ‘Have you watched how they
attack us, they each fire a ball of fire or fire a lighting bolt or that spell,
that pushed us across the deck, which the leader used. They do it by themselves
for they don’t work out with each other what they are doing. They don’t ask for
help to fire at the one person. They are loners and that’s how we are going to
defeat them.’

They looked at them as they fired
off shots that went for each of them trying to break down their shields. They
moved all the time just going from one side of the deck to the other. As they
did this the Renegades fired off spells at them but they were having no effect.

They could see the leader was
starting to get very angry and was yelling at his fellow Renegades. The leader
was by far the strongest of them but he was still weak from the entire spell
weaving he had been doing all day. His spells still made them flinch when one
hit the shield.

Now Angel decided he had enough
of the playing around and called his friends together so he could talk. ‘This
is what we need to do, I think it’s the only way we might have a chance of
knocking them off. We need to combine our shields and then I want you three to
concentrate all your energy balls on to one Renegade at a time leaving the
leader, him I will keep distracted with some spell. You keep hitting that
Renegade till you kill him, it’s the only way.’

They looked at Angel and then the
three of them come together on one side of Angel so they could better aim their
spells at the one they chose. ‘When you are ready and have picked which one you
are going for let me know and I will start to fire at the leader. When you have
killed him go for the other one right away, don’t give him any time?’

They huddled and soon had their
target lined up and ready, they then nodded at Angel who started to fire energy
balls at the leader, making his shield flare with the spells hitting it. Angel
kept up the fire as Medwin, Maive and Shylyn fired at their chosen Renegade.
They hit him with as many energy balls as they could, not stopping till they
saw him burning with an energy ball enveloping him.

He had not had time to bring up
his shield as the energy balls just kept coming at him so fast. As soon as they
seen him burning they switched to the other before he could put up his shield.
The attack was so quick and unexpected he went down just as quickly as the
other Renegade.

They were about to switch to the
leader but he was on to their game and with his shield already up the energy
balls just bounced away from him. His shield was a lot stronger than the other
two which caught them by surprise.  They stopped firing and this gave him
an opening.

The Renegade glared at them and
with a push of his hands a spell hit the four and pushed them across the deck
stunning them. They lay on the ground with their shields down and the Renegade
walking over to them. He is just about half way to them when he suddenly hears
a noise and stops to look up.

Coming down in front of him were
four dragons a black and three whites. He had never seen young dragons like
these before and a black at that. He had never seen a black dragon before but
knew there was one with the Dragon Riders but that one was full grown.

The dragons coming down in front
of him had stopped him in his tracks allowing the dragons to land in front of
him and between him and the four kids on the ground. They were stopping him
from going over to them and this made him angry. With that he fired a powerful
ball of fire at them but he found their shields had stopped it.

He stood there puzzled for a
moment till it clicked in his mind these dragons had shields and if they had
shields then they might have magic. His eyes suddenly lit and his shield come
up just as the dragons fired balls of fire at him. His mind was trying to get
to grips with what he was seeing.

In all his time he had never
known dragons to have magic and these four in front of him had magic. He must
tell his superiors of this for this is not right, they have fixed it so dragons
don’t have magic but these four do. But first he had better finish this off and
get back to tell them.

His shield was still holding back
the fire balls from the dragons when they changed to energy balls and then his
shield started to falter just a bit. He was a bit startled by this as he had
never come across a spell like this that fired energy balls. But it still
annoyed him; he was being attacked by just kids and young dragons.

This built up his anger and he
started to really increase the power of his spells and he sent them at the
young dragons who found themselves being pushed back as their shields suddenly
flared with the fire enveloping them. They were now starting to get in trouble
and their riders were still not recovered from the hit they had taken.

Angel stirred and there was
something that was buzzing in his head as he slowly sat up. It took him a few
moments before things started to come back to him and then the buzzing in his
mind become Aura’s voice. She was calling for help. ‘Angel you must wake up we
can’t hold him much longer and we are afraid?’

‘It’s alright Aura I’m here now;
can you hold him a little longer while I see how the others are?’ Angel had
finely become aware of what was happening and what he was seeing.

‘We can hold him for a short time
only as he has increased the power of his spells and we are only just holding
him at bay. Please hurry?’ Aura’s voice felt shaky as she told Angel.

He pulled himself up and went over
to his friends as they lay there. He gave them a little shack to try and bring
them around. They moaned a little as he tried to wake them but it was going to
take to long to bring them around. He quickly worked his magic into their magic
to see weather it would help them recover quicker.

They slowly opened their eyes but
he could see it was still going to take too long for them to be able to help.
He had an idea and hoped it might work but he needed to ask his friends first.
‘I will need your magic to help me defeat the Renegade, if you just lay there
and rest while I’ll use your magic to try and defeat the Renegade as our
dragons are having trouble and will not be able to hold him much longer?’

Medwin looked up at him and then
looked at the others and turned back to him and nodded. ‘You go we will direct
the magic to you when you need it. Just call and take as much as you want, we
will draw from our dragons and give you that as well for we must not lose. Go
Angel we will be alright.’

Angel got up and looked at his
friends once more smiled at them and turned and walked towards their dragons
and the battle to come. He could see the shields of their dragons glowing red
as they tried to stop the Renegades spells. He could see they were only just
holding and quickly walked up beside Aura.
