Angel looked up and could see the
small dots that meant creatures were coming down. As Angel looked around he
could see other wizards looking up and pointing then they would run off and get
ready. They moved into the cave so they were out of the way of the creatures.

As he was about to go back to
Aura he suddenly thought if the other wizards seen them just standing in a
little group and not fighting they would think something was going on. ‘Medwin,
Shylyn, Maive I think we need to move inside out of the way so the rest of the
wizards and students don’t see us doing nothing while they fight?’

They all nodded and moved over to
the school and went inside and headed up to their room. They will work from
here seeing what is happening. They got comfortable on the cushions and then
went back to be with their dragons. Aura started letting Angel know what was
happening.

‘Angel the portal is only opening
for short times as the Renegades are casting the spell to open the portal keep
getting disturbed and so lose their concentration and then the portal closes.
Then they try and get it open again which takes them a little time, their goes
your mother flying in close to get a better shot.’ There was a note of aw in
Auras mind as she spoke of his mother.

Aura carried on with her
commentary. ‘Her dragon is so powerful as he keeps taken shots and they are not
hurting him. But your mother has taken a glancing blow and when that happened
her dragon went berserk and flew real close to the portal and the Renegades
trying to open it. The Renegades nearly fell of the dragons as they tried to
duck.’ Angel could feel the flinch as if Aura could feel every blow his mother
and the other Dragon Riders took.

Angel looked out the window and
could not see any creatures around there. So he came back and sat down and let
Aura carry on. ‘At the moment there are only about 50 creatures getting through
at a time for the portal is only opening for just a few minutes before the
Dragon Riders disrupt them.’

‘Is there any sign of the wizards
arriving to help for they should not be too long? They must get there soon?’
Angel had just an edge to his voice as he spoke to Aura.

‘There is no sign just yet but I
will tell you just as soon as I see them. They have not lost any of the
Renegades just yet but it must be a matter of time. Your mother is getting very
close and has given some glancing blows. It is not enough to kill a Renegade
but just enough to distract them form the spell and in doing so lose
concentration and the portal closes. That really peeves them of as they were
not expecting to be attacked. ‘Aura let me see what you see?’

Angel could suddenly hear what
the Renegades’ were saying.

‘Wizards they are coming so let’s
get out of here and now.’ Angel could hear the command in his mind as the
Renegades were about to leave. But then there was a yell and one Renegade stood
up on his dragon and commanded them to stay for fear of death.’ The Renegade
looked around and could see more wizards coming but they were for the Dragon
Riders.

‘We must hold till the creatures
have gone through before we are allowed to go home so keep your line. We can
not leave until there are plenty of creatures through that gate. So keep that
portal open as long as you can, then you can go. All you others I want those
Dragon Riders taken care off before their wizards get here.’ As he finished he
gave his dragon a command to hold, or else.

‘Aura how is it you can hear what
they say; you’re so far away from them?’ Angel was fascinated at what he could
hear and see going on.

‘We have very good hearing but
also their dragons, we can hear it through them but they don’t know we can hear
them. It’s like you talking to the Renegades dragon, you could only do that
because you can talk and understand us. But we don’t know why your dragons
can’t talk to you or your riders.’ Aura went back to concentrating on what was
happening.

Angel and his friends could see
everything that was happening at the portal. They were amazed, with their
ability to see and hear through their dragons. They had a ring side seat to
what was happening by the portal. They could see things were starting to get
very scary down there for his mother and brothers.

They could watch but do nothing
else, so they just had to sit there and watch. The Renegade had got them back
to work and concentrating on keeping the portal open for as long as they could.

They got the portal open again
and the next lot of creatures comes flying through. The Renegades were able to
keep it open again for only a very short time. The Dragon Riders were firing as
close as they dear get, but did not help them was the fact they would not fire
at a dragon that the Renegades sat on.

They fired at the Renegades only
and so they had a smaller target to aim at. This still worked a bit as the
Renegades that were keeping the portal open were nearly hit at times and so
this made them lose their concentration. When this happened the portal would
fall apart.

The dragon Riders could see far
off in the distance the wizards were coming but they were still a ways off.
Angel's mother Tish could see this and knew they would have to do something to
keep the portal closed and not let any more creatures through. She could only
estimate how many had already got through, and that number was still in the
hundreds.

She needed to knock off at lest
three to four Renegades to make them pack it in. She called her sons over for
she had an idea on what they could do. They arrived over to her very quickly
where she explained what they were about to do. ‘We are going to attack in very
close so we will go out and come in with speed so we can try and make it hard
for their spells to hit us. So let’s go.’

Angel watched as his mother and
brothers peeled off out of the attacking group and then come in gathering speed
as they did this. They headed right for the Renegades not stopping just heading
straight at them. The Renegades seen them coming and tried to concentrate their
fire at them.

Tish and her sons had no time to
dodge the spells that were being cast at them and the lance fire that was also
coming at them. Angel saw his mother and her dragon were taking all the attack
of the Renegades. Tish’s dragon was able to withstand many shots that hit it
but sooner or later it was going to get hit with a good one.

As they watched they were spell
bound and in their minds they were wishing for them to get through. Then Tish’s
dragon took a bad hit and it suddenly tumbled out of the sky and was heading
for the ground. Angel yelled ‘NO’ standing up from his sitting position.

As Angel looked tears running
down his face his perception of what was happening suddenly change and he was racing
down at his mother and her dragon. He could feel Aura was darting down to them
and would soon reach them. Aura came into his mind. ‘Get ready with a spell to
save them, I will get as close as I can?’

Angel got ready with a spell that
would hold their fall allowing her dragon to recover. As Aura come in very
close his mother could see the dragon and a strange look come over her face. It
would be one of surprise plus a joy in seeing a young dragon coming to help
her.

Aura came in close as she could
and in Angels mind as he watched his mother and NightWing falling. ‘Now you
need to Holt their fall and soon as the ground is very close?’

Angel could see NightWing was
still out to it and his mother hanging on. There was a serine look on her face
as she and NightWing fell. Angel quickly drawing power from Aura gently sent a
spell that would enfold them in a net. As the net infolded them it slowly
started to pull up and stop their fall.

As they slowly stopped in mid air
Tish looked at the young dragon and wandered what was happening. She was still
a little bit stunned by the blasts that they had sustained. Here she was
falling but she could feel them slowing down and there was a young dragon
looking at her.

She could feel NightWing start to
stir and as he slowly came out of the knock he received from the blasts the
Renegades fired at them. The young dragon turned and flew off as NightWing come
round. He immediately lifted his wings and gave them a wave and found them
working.

Tish leaned over and gave him a
rub to show him she was still here and was ok. She looked up to see far off in
the distance the young dragon. She gave it a wave and mouthed a thank you. She
turned NightWing around and they headed back up to the battle that was still
raging up above.

Angel could see them flying back
up to the battle. The Renegades still managed to open it for a few minutes
until it was closed again by the distraction of one of the Renegades. But the
Dragon Riders were wining for the portal was getting smaller each time.

There were not many creatures
coming through now for the portal was getting smaller as the Renegades started
to tire. Also they were starting to get very panicky as the wizards were almost
there. The Renegade who held them there before tried to get them to carry on
but he was out numbered.

The Renegades broke and flew off
to get away from the wizards that had started to fire on them. The Dragon
Riders and the wizards kept on firing and chasing them. They still had
creatures to stop for as they came out of the portal they did not bother with
the few Dragon Riders or Renegades and the coming wizards. They could sense
masses of food just over the mountain and that’s where they went.

Angel and his friends came out of
the link with their dragons and stood up and stretched their legs. ‘Are you ok
that was very close with your mother. What will she think when she gets back
and tells everyone a young dragon saved her and her dragons lives?’ Maive
looked at Angel and gave him a pat on the back.

‘I don’t know what’s going to
happen but I just could not leave them to die when I was able to save them with
Auras help. Now did anybody count how many creatures the school was going to
have to fight?’ Angel gave a big stretch and yawn as he finished.

Medwin nodded his head as he moved
about to free up the muscles in his legs. ‘They are going to have to fight
about 6 hundred of them but no big ones. The portal never got open long enough
for the big ones to get through. Now what do we do go and join them or do we
see if the Renegade is there?’

‘The wizards here should be able
to handle that many creatures and with the spell we showed they will be fine.’
Shylyn was already moving to the door as she finished.

They all left their room and
headed down to their secret room and the little hall to the next deck. They
reached the meal hall when they felt they were hungry so went in to find no one
there and so went and helped themselves. They needed food and now, so went
through to the kitchen where they found bags and filled them up with food.

Getting to their room they stop
to eat and build up their strength. The little magic that Angel had used had
taken a little out of him and the others by the look as they were filling their
mouths. He did the same thing and they soon found themselves finding a table to
sit at and just eat.

During the meal they wandered
about the battle that would be going on outside. ‘I feel guilty about just
sitting here eating while they battle out there. Can’t we go there and help
then we can sneak off and see the Renegade as he won’t know we have taken down
the portal?’ Medwin said.

‘We should be able to do this
quickly and then while the others are cleaning away the dead creatures we would
slip away?’ Shylyns look telling them she was not happy about leaving their
school friends to fend off the attack.

Maive stood and spoke before they
decided. ‘There is the one question and that is how do we get to the cave with
the spell on the walls?'

‘There is a door out of the
school just close to the cave entrance we should be able to slip through. Come
on I want to help as all you do. The Renegade will not go for a while yet for
we know he puts everything into the attack on the spell.’ Angel was moving now
they finished their meal.

They found the door out on to the
deck and could see the creatures were just hovering above the school. The
wizards had not started the spell from the big shield room and they also found
there were no creature’s bodies blocking their path.

They made a dash for the cave
with their shields ready and sure enough as they ran some spell went flying and
hit one of them in the back shield. This propelled him into the cave where the
others were waiting.

‘Well that was close so let’s
find a position and see what we can do to help.’ Medwin was the first to lead
off as he finished talking.

They followed him into the cave
and proceeded to an area over by the other end of the deck and close to the
door at that end. As they went Angel seen Gavrie over in the back and headed
over to him. The others just kept going to the position they were going to
hold.

Angel walked up to Gavrie and
spoke softly to him. ‘That will be all the creatures and the portal has closed
and the Renegades have bolted. The Dragon Riders kept them from opening big
portals until finely with our wizards arriving they just took off.’

‘The creatures are just a little
weary of coming close to the deck for some reason, so we can’t use your secret
weapon so we are just going to have to wait till there is something that will
bring them down. You might as well go and join your fiends and we will just
wait and see what happens.’ Gavrie turned back to what he was doing.

As they waited they felt a small
ripple in their magic sense and wandered what that was as they have never felt
a ripple in their magic like that before. Angel had a sudden thought and the
others looked at him as they seamed to come to the same conclusion. They all
said it at the same time. ‘The Renegade.’
