He slowly moved from the bed and walked to the bathroom. He got a washcloth and returned as Monte slowly pulled from her pussy. BJ began to wash her, and she stirred.

“You don’t have to do that,” she began to say when Monte pulled her thigh over his thigh and held her.

“We take care of what’s ours, baby, and you belong to us.” She smiled at Monte, and BJ stood there, feeling proud and content.

He joined them on the bed, and they lay there together in silence.

BJ began to draw imaginary circles on her shoulder and back as she faced Monte.

“So you sure you have to leave by twelve today?” BJ asked. “We’d love to spend the rest of the day with you.” He felt like such a sap. He wasn’t used to this. He wanted Susanna in their lives all the time, and now after making love to her through the night and what they’d just shared together, he didn’t want to let her go.

“I wish I could, but I can’t. It’s Sunday and the girls and I have plans.”

Monte caressed her arm and linked his fingers through hers.

“What plans?”

“My cousins are supposed to be calling.”

“What cousins?” BJ asked.

“Two cousins from back home.”

“Where’s that?” Monte asked.

“Nowhere in particular.” She adjusted her position against Monte. BJ knew people. He knew how to read them. He knew when they were lying or hiding something. Susanna was holding back. No one really knew anything about her or her friends. They just showed up one day interested in an old warehouse to rebuild and turn into a dance hall and club. He remembered seeing her that day inside the town municipal building. She was a knockout.

“You don’t share much about yourself, do you,” Monte teased, and she lifted her head up.

“I don’t like to talk about myself. Plus, there’s not much to tell,” she countered.

BJ traced along her skin and back toward the scars on her back. “Where’d you get these scars, baby?”

Susanna remained silent.

He caressed over to her waist and pulled her to the side slightly to look into her eyes.

She stared at him a moment and he couldn’t read her.

“Well?” he pushed.

“It’s nothing.” She lowered her eyes. Oh yeah, it was something, all right, and it was something that changed her demeanor and made her tighten up.

“Tell us,” Monte stated, surprising BJ with his tone.

Susanna shook her head. “It’s none of your business. Enough questions.” She began to get up.

Both Monte and BJ stopped her from moving.

“Did someone do that to you?” Monte asked, and BJ felt his gut clench and anger immediately fill his body. He knew he had a scowl on his face as he looked down at Susanna.

She lay on her back now with him on one side half over her and Monte on the other.

She reached up with her hands and placed one against each of their cheeks. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before opening them.

“You’re both so sweet and caring. I needed this. I needed to know that you would be gentle and caring in intimacy, and it means a lot to me.”

“But?” Monte asked.

“But I can’t give you more right now. I can’t lie here and give you my life story and all its pain. I just can’t do that with you. Please understand.”

“Don’t you trust us?” BJ asked.

She closed her eyes, and he could see the tears in them. She was hurting. Whatever happened to her it was painful to remember and talk about.

“I trust you both, BJ, or I wouldn’t be here in this bed, I wouldn’t have stayed the night, and I certainly wouldn’t be feeling sad about having to leave you both.”

“Then don’t go, baby. Stay with us. You can talk to your cousins tonight,” Monte suggested.

“I can’t. They call on Sundays at all different times. I have to wait for their call. It’s important.”

“Does it have anything to do with the scars?” Monte asked, and she shook her head.

“Please, Monte, I don’t want to talk about it. It’s in the past and being with you and taking care of the girls and Dixie Chix is all that matters.”

BJ leaned down and kissed her breast.

“One day you’ll tell us, right?”

Monte leaned down and kissed her other breast. They both began to feast on her breasts and nipples then made their way lower to her pussy. She tilted her head back, and BJ watched her from below.

“She’ll tell us, Monte. We have a way of getting information when we want it.”

BJ pressed a digit up into her pussy, and Susanna moaned.

“Oh yeah, we’ll get whatever we want from our woman as we learn her weak spots.” Monte licked her nipple and pulled on it with his teeth. Susanna moaned, and both men began to work on weakening their woman and getting her to share her life with them.

Chapter 10

They were a couple of days away from Delite, Texas, when Alexa and Sally got the feeling that they were being followed. There was this black sports car that always seemed to show up where they were for the past few days. They were getting low on money and taking numerous busses was their only form of transportation. They were afraid to remain in one place too long in case the black car was following them. It was Saturday night and they rented a motel room so they could shower and change. They took turns watching carefully from the window the car that sat in the parking lot a few floors below them. They picked the biggest motel with multiple floors and rooms that didn’t have balconies or fire escapes. Those were potential means to being infiltrated from outside. Susanna had taught them well. She’d given them great advice over the last year as she had experienced living on the run for years before finally settling down in a place called Delite, Texas.

Alexa and Sally were looking forward to finally being able to stop running and live with their cousin and her friends. She had helped a few women along the way on her journey to freedom, and they wanted to be part of her new business and to live normal lives away from abuse and danger.

Tomorrow they would call her and let her know about the black car.

“Hey, I just saw the guy who’s driving the vehicle get out. Look down there,” Alexa whispered to Sally. Sally carefully peeked out of the small space between the curtain and the window.

“He looks like he’s trying to make a call. Maybe I should sneak down there and try to hear what he’s saying?” Sally suggested to Alexa.

“Shit! What if he is following us and he sees you? Then what?” Alexa replied. They stared at one another.

“We both go,” they said simultaneously then smiled.

“We do this like Susanna taught us,” Alexa said then walked to her duffel bag and pulled out the black sweatshirt. Sally did the same thing.

“I’ve been following them for five days now, Casper. There’s no sign of your woman, Susanna. These two are on their own.”

“They could be heading toward Susanna. I think you should wait it out. Patience is imperative at a time like this,” Casper stated.

“You gonna pay me for my time, man?”

“That’s why you called me to begin with, wasn’t it, Brook? Now be sure to not screw this up. I’m going to be in Texas on business, Dallas actually, so I won’t be far. If you see Susanna, you call me right away.”

“I’ll call you, Casper, but I don’t think Susanna will show up.”

Brook hung up the phone and glanced around the dump of a motel. These two chicks tried hard to not stand out and to be lost in a crowd. He almost lost them himself a few times, but he was better. He’d been tracking for years and remaining undetected himself, considering the law was after him. Brook knew he was a wanted man. He got a little messy with a few hits and left some evidence around. He now took jobs like these where unknowns were wanted and were expendable if caught. That was him. He was already wanted for five different murders, so what would a few more be if he got busted? He wouldn’t get the chair in Texas, so he didn’t give a fuck.

Perhaps if Casper gave the okay to take out these two women, he’d get to have some fun with them first.

He smiled as he lit a cigarette before getting back into his car.

Alexa and Sally didn’t speak until they were back in the motel room.

“We have to call Susanna. That guy is looking for her and we’re leading him right to her,” Alexa stated.

“Casper. Fuck, Alexa, he’s one of Casper’s hired men. He wants to get her back to Casper and we can’t let that happen.”

“I don’t know what we’re going to do.”

“I think we stick to the plan of calling Susanna tomorrow. We’ll let her know what we found out and she’ll know what to do and how to lose this guy. Plus, she’ll need to know that Casper is still searching for her.”

“We’ll call her tomorrow. It’s late. Let’s take turns sleeping. I’ll take watch first,” Alexa said, and Sally nodded in agreement. This was their routine, especially when they were being followed.

It was eleven thirty. They had showered, made love again, gotten dressed, and had breakfast, and now Monte and BJ were trying to get her to stay longer.

“I can’t stay. I wish I could, but I can’t,” she told them as they both held one of her hands.

She stared up at them. They were so big and tall and total cowboys. She could smell their cologne, and she learned so much about them. They answered any questions she had, even though she refused to answer most of their questions about herself. She learned that Monte served in a special unit in the military then was discharged and started his own private security company and assisted with the government when needed. BJ had served in a similar unit for the military then decided to come back home and take his father’s old position as town sheriff after being elected by the town people without him even knowing it. They were good men, honest men, who served their country and had morals and values. A few times in conversation she felt that they were too good to be true and too good for her.

She felt Monte’s hand against her cheek as she leaned back against the island in the kitchen.

“When can we see you again?” he asked her as he caressed her cheek.

“Well, you know where I work and where I live. Mondays the club is closed, and you have some more work to do there, so I guess on Monday.”

He pulled her into his arms and hugged her tight. She hugged him in return. They remained that way for a few seconds until Monte slowly pulled back.

BJ then took her hand and pulled her against him. He hugged her, too, and she inhaled his scent, loving the smell of their cologne and manly presence. She felt feminine and cared for in their arms.

He slowly released her and she began to walk with them toward the front door.

“We’ll call you later, okay? To talk?” BJ asked, and she nodded her head. They walked her out and she felt so odd. She had truly enjoyed their night together and she knew she cared for them deeply, but it was as if something was squeezing her chest and stopping her from truly enjoying the moment. She tried to smile and then hoped it came off as sincere even though she felt unsure.

“So you’re really not going to tell us any details?” Ava asked as the women all gathered around the living room waiting for Sally and Alexa to call.

“Why would I do that? It wouldn’t be very ladylike.” She took a sip of the iced tea she had. Her legs were tucked underneath her as she wore a pair of shorts and T-shirt. She felt content and not so pessimistic anymore. Both BJ and Monte texted her that they missed her already.

“You could have stayed there longer. We would have taken the call from Alexa and Sally,” Ava stated with a smile. She gave her a sideways look.

“You know that I wouldn’t miss their call. They’re almost here. They’ll be in Delite by Tuesday, and I can’t wait,” Susanna stated, and just then the phone began to ring.

She put down her glass of tea and took the call.

“No, Susanna, you’re not going!” Ava yelled as Susanna pulled off her T-shirt and went to replace it with a black one.

“What’s that on your back? What are those marks?” Paula asked as the others gathered in her bedroom.

She tossed a look over her shoulder. “You guys know what to do. We talked about this. Everything is in the safe in case I don’t return.”

“Goddamn it, Susanna, he did that to you, didn’t he? Casper beat you and whipped you? My God, you didn’t tell us everything,” Ava yelled, and Susanna turned around to face her friends.

“No, I didn’t tell you everything. There was no need to relive that time by talking about it. I got out of there and I survived.”

“Yeah, but now you’re running right back into it again. What if Casper is there? What if this guy calls him and he’s nearby? Then what?” Elise asked.

Susanna pulled open her side drawer and took out a gun. She checked to make sure it was loaded and grabbed an extra cartridge.

Ava gasped. Susanna looked up.

“I’ll do what I have to do to save Alexa and Sally. If I don’t save them, then our uncles and their goons will get them and kill them both. I’m their only hope of surviving this. That guy Brook is a bad man. He’s killed for many people, and he’s wanted by the authorities. If he happens to show up dead somewhere in Texas, then so be it.” She placed the gun in a backpack and pulled it onto her shoulder.
