“I know people,” he replied, and she knew that his cousins let him in. It seemed everyone was pushing for her to get involved with Monte and the sheriff.

“Is this a private party or can anyone join in?”

She looked to the side to see the sheriff entering the balcony, too. He was wearing a black dress shirt and dark designer jeans. He looked even bigger than when he was in uniform.

“I guess I’m going to have to talk with my security team about the rules.” She looked up into the corner of the ceiling where the camera was, and she made a fist and squinted her eyes.

“I’m sure they’re laughing right now.” The sheriff took her hand and pulled her to him. He kissed her softly on the lips then escorted her back inside and to the privacy of her office.

She stood in front of them a few feet away from her desk. Monte took one of her hands and brought it to his lips as he stepped closer. His other hand gently smoothed across her hip. The sheriff took her other hand and kissed her fingertips then reached under her hair to give a little tug as he moved closer and kissed her. He ravaged her mouth, and she felt Monte move in behind her, wrap his arm around her waist, and begin to kiss her shoulder and neck.

Eyes closed and feeling totally out of control, she allowed them to greet her. The sheriff’s kiss was deep and commanding just like him. He released her hand as he continued to kiss her then reached under her skirt to pull her body against his own. She pulled from his lips and gasped at the feel of his long, hard cock against her belly.

“That’s right, honey, I’m all worked up over you.”

She felt Monte press against her rear, and she knew he was just as hard and long as his brother.

“We want to take you home with us tonight. We’re going to talk things out, and come to an understanding,” the sheriff stated as he kissed her lower lip then her chin and neck. Monte kissed her shoulder, nibbled on it, then pulled on her ear lobe with his teeth.

“Oh God, this isn’t fair. I can’t think straight when you two do this.”

“Good. Forget thinking straight and just feel, baby.” Monte caressed his hand over her hip to her belly then up against her breast from behind her.

The buzzer on the desk went off, and Susanna jumped from their arms. She straightened out her skirt and walked over to the desk to answer the intercom.

She glanced back at Monte and the sheriff. They looked just as aroused and flustered as she felt.

“Yeah, Ava. What’s that? Are you guys sure?” she asked then gave the men the evil eye.

“I don’t have to go. You’ll call me then?”

She disconnected the call then crossed her arms in front of her chest as she leaned against the desk.

“You two did this. You manipulated my friends and got them to cover for me tonight so I can hang out with you.”

The sheriff grabbed her hand, making her arms come undone as he pulled her against him.

He wrapped her tight in his arm and plastered his other hand against her ass.

He looked at Monte and then they both looked at her.

“We want to spend some quality time with you,” BJ stated.

“Alone,” Monte added, sounding serious before he smiled and winked at her.

“We want you to feel comfortable with us. Regardless of whatever reasons you have for being scared, we want to ease your mind and get to know you. We’ve been really patient, Susanna,” BJ stated firmly.

She thought they sounded sincere, and if she were being honest with herself, she wanted them. She wanted to give this a shot and no one said she needed to tell them her life story either. Maybe at some point, but right now, she was willing to give them this time. But she also wasn’t going to comply so easily. She tried stepping back, but BJ still held her.

“Are you two for real? I mean, you’re not going to team up on me with those hot kisses and make me lose focus and we’ll just hang out?” she asked.

“If all goes well, we won’t be just hanging out, we’ll be making love all night long. Now move it.” He released her to Monte, who took her hand and grabbed her bags. They headed out the door, and she felt completely out of control and about to fall over the edge into one of those ravines she feared so much.

Chapter 9

Susanna drove in Monte’s Ferrari while BJ followed behind them in his personal truck, a very large, F-350 pickup in black with tinted windows. It was decked out in fancy rims, and he looked really good getting into it. Any woman would love to be with one of these men, and she was contemplating being with both of them.

The thought made her head spin and fear grip her insides. She had thought herself more confident and womanly at this point in her life. She had overcome many struggles and saved her own life running from a man who still haunted her dreams.

She thought of him. She didn’t think she would at a moment like this when she was ready to try sex again after such a long time.

She clasped her hands together and tried to stop the shaking.

“Hey, are you okay, baby?” Monte asked her as he covered her knee with his hand. She jumped from the contact. She was so lost in thought.

“I’m sorry. I was just thinking about something.”

“You seemed upset. You know that we would never hurt you, right?” he asked as he removed his hand from her knee so he could shift gears. Moments later they were pulling onto a long driveway, and in the distance she saw the sprawling home that belonged to the two men.

She waited, giving herself the few seconds to breathe and figure out how to postpone intimacy with these two sexually charged men. There had to be a way to slow this down.

Monte opened her door and reached for her hand to help her out. He smiled at her, and her heart soared with appreciation for the good-looking cowboy. They headed toward the front porch that was done up in dark cedarwood and large enough to hold multiple rocking chairs and a swinging bench. The front door was custom made and double a regular-size door.

“Welcome,” BJ stated as he opened the door, preceding her as she walked inside.

It took her breath away.

“My God, this place is huge and so different. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.” It didn’t matter that her mouth hung open in awe of the high-class custom home. She absorbed the cathedral ceilings, the open beams of log that decorated the entire thing, and of course the large, wide windows looking out across the open land. There were two sets of stairs, and one led to the right in a spiral design toward a loft that overlooked the living room and grand stone fireplace.

She twirled right into Monte, who wrapped his arms around her and kissed her on the cheek.

“You like it?” he asked as she held his forearms.

“Like it? What’s not to like, Monte? It’s stunning. Did you have someone design it for you?” she asked, and he released her, took her hand, and walked her through the main entrance and living room to an industrial kitchen.

“You’re looking at the designers, honey. Monte and I worked on it together.”

“That’s impressive. You both have great taste, too.” She walked toward the industrial stove and eyed the stainless steel appliances along with the custom granite countertops. Then she stood on her tiptoes to look out the window at the side of their property. She jumped as BJ placed his hands on her shoulders. He massaged her as he whispered next to her ear.

“Would you like a glass of wine?” he asked.

She lowered to her feet, the heels not giving her much height against BJ’s six feet plus, and slowly turned in his arms.

His hands were against her cheeks, cupping them as she stared into his eyes.

“Sure. Sounds good.”

He leaned forward and kissed her softly on the lips, just a sweet, lingering kiss that made her toes curl and her hands grip his waist. He was solid and strong. She felt it underneath her fingertips as she gripped his belt loop.

BJ released her lips, and there stood Monte holding two glasses of red wine.

“Thank you.” BJ passed a glass to Susanna. Monte took his from the counter and they stood in front of her.

“To new beginnings.” BJ offered a toast, and she took a deep breath as she gently tapped her glass to each of theirs before taking a sip.

They worked in sync with one another, and she was never at a loss of their touch or their attention. They moved around the kitchen and allowed her to help in preparation of the meal. Monte was apparently the gourmet cook where BJ was traditional. They sat together at the large island in the kitchen and spoke about Dixie Chix, Monte’s security company, and BJ’s job keeping the peace in Delite.

The further they got into conversation the more uneasy she began to get. She knew that it was inevitable, and eventually two investigative law minds like these two would interrogate her and make her come clean. She feared the worse. But unexpectedly it wasn’t the guilt about her life and what she had survived. It was not knowing what these two men she was growing very fond of would think when they learned of her past. She also didn’t think she could handle the intimacy.

“This was so good, Monte, you two work well together.” She rose from her seat to clear her plate. They began to do the same, and when she started to wash the dishes, Monte stopped her.

“We have a dishwasher, honey. You don’t need to do that.”

“I just wanted to help. It really was nice of you to cook me dinner.”

He leaned closer and kissed her softly on the lips. “A thank you is just fine, sweetie.” Monte put the other dishes in the dishwasher.

After cleaning up, BJ led her into the living room to a large couch that sat facing the huge fireplace. There were big, fluffy cushions and a thick throw blanket hanging nicely over the top of it. She imagined snuggling up in that blanket during a cold winter and watching the big fire burn. She gave her mind a mental shake. That kind of fairy-tale dreaming nearly got her killed.

“Well, again, I enjoyed the dinner. I guess I should call it a night. I have plans tomorrow with the ladies,” she began to say until BJ pulled her onto his lap on the couch.

He dipped her down so that her back lay flat against his arm in a cradle hold on the couch, and her ass and legs were over his thighs.

“Your friends told us you didn’t have plans until noontime,” Monte stated, and she was shocked. Her own friends had double-crossed her.

“Well, they don’t know what they’re talking about.”

BJ caressed her ankles then her calves as he made his way to her thighs. He used his forearm behind her back to move her closer to his lips.

“This is our time, baby, so relax.” He kissed her softly, and she felt the couch dip behind her head. Monte began to play with her hair.

BJ sensed her reservations. He and his brother were big men, and their reputations around town could be perceived as scary. But they also knew that Susanna was a sought-after woman. He and Monte had set a few interested males straight about trying to nail Susanna. The women who ran Dixie Chix had a lot of men interested in them. He had to admit that he was glad Susanna kept to herself and neither he nor Monte ever saw her with a guy. From the moment he’d laid eyes on her over a year ago, he was interested. Then a day later, Monte saw her and he told him about her. They laughed over how they had met and noticed the same woman and had the same attraction to her. They were convinced that she was the one. Now all they had to do was convince Susanna.

He loved the taste of her and the scent of her light, feminine perfume. He continued to kiss her and move his hand up her skirt to her pussy. He’d never get enough of watching her come in his arms. In fact, he looked forward to bringing her to that point momentarily.

Monte caressed Susanna’s long blonde hair. He reached over her shoulder and softly undid the top buttons of her blouse. She stirred in his brother’s arms, but he kept caressing and feeling her skin. Monte had thought about loving her, taking care of her, and holding her in his arms for months. They shared an intimate moment recently, and he was determined to take this attraction to the next level. He was a man who knew what he wanted and went after it. Susanna had been the hardest pursuit he’d ever engaged in, and even now it wasn’t a locked deal. She was nervous and a bit timid, which was different from her general personality, and his brother felt it, too. They needed to ease her mind and let her know that there was more to this relationship than just chemistry and lust. But those two things sure helped to make him aroused and ready to claim her as his woman. He needed to tread carefully.

Susanna was lost in BJ’s kiss and the feel of Monte’s hands caressing and messaging her breast. With every button Monte undid, they came closer to what she had hid from so many others, including her friends. She’d only shared some of her past but not the harder aspects. Not the abuse at Casper’s hands or the weapons he’d used to enforce his power and control. The thought of him made her lose focus on the good feelings she had just as Monte undid the last button of her blouse.

She quickly pulled from their hands and attempted to sit up, but wound up straddling BJ’s waist.
