I have an amazing support team including friends, bloggers, and fellow authors. I wish I could name you all one by one, but I’d be here all day. You know who you are, and I can’t thank you enough for the strength you’ve given me.

Ladies who make up my street team, The Wilde Side, you’ve been amazing. Thanks to Jen who helps to run the group, too. I love that Oliver has his own little fan club and that his fine ass is a subject we discuss on many occasions.

Thanks to my pre-readers Andrea and Jeanne for helping to polish the final manuscript. You ladies rock!

Lastly, thank you to all my readers for the support for this series so far. It’s blown me away, and I’m so excited to share Devotion with you.

In
fact, I won’t keep you waiting a moment longer…

Much love,

For my girl, Jeanne—a dear friend that I found thanks to our love of storytelling.

Devotion will seal their fate.

Prologue

“Say it one more time,” Oliver panted above me. Sweat was trickling down his face from our constant lovemaking, but he’d never looked more beautiful.

“I love you,” I yearned, pulling him back down toward my lips. My words had never been truer. Oliver had become
everything
to me. Now that he knew the dark parts of my past, I finally felt as if he could see the real me, and that was all the hope I needed for our future.

“I can’t
ever
be without you, Jade,” he groaned, kissing down my neck. “I just don’t function without you anymore. You have me, body, heart, and soul.” How could he break me with just his words? I fell even more for him in those few moments.

Oliver needed me like I needed him. How was I ever going to leave him again? No matter how short the time was compared to the long life I would eventually have with him, it didn’t change the fact I
had
to leave him at some point.

Was I even strong enough for that? Would I be able to stay away and live without his touch?

Jade, you already know the answer to that.
I couldn’t last even four days without Oliver. How would I be able to go for
four years
?

Chapter One

“I can’t believe you went to that party!” Mina screeched, pushing me into the car. “Didn’t you listen to anything Dad said?”

“I’m almost eighteen. I can do whatever I want!” I yelled, trying to get out.

“Don’t fucking move! I just saved you from acting like a slut! Two guys at the same time, Jade! Really? Is that how you get your thrills these days?” she fumed, slamming my door shut. “You need to start thinking about the kind of person you want to be in the future, because right now, you’re just a whore!” she glared once she was in the driver’s seat. Mina was always so blunt.

“Maybe I want to be a whore!” I sulked, crossing my arms as she pulled onto the main road.

“Jade, I don’t know why everything suddenly changed and I lost my baby sister, but I’d really like her back. This isn’t you.”

“She’s long gone! No one ever listened to her anyway! I can fuck who I want, drink what I want, and go to parties when I want!”

“No, you can’t. You’re seventeen! And will you put your damn seatbelt on, too! You’re not a fucking child!”

“No,” I snapped, looking out the side window. I was too pissed to do anything she asked.

“Fine,” Mina huffed, unbuckling herself before leaning over to try and grab my belt.

“Get off, you bitch!” I yelled, pushing her away.

“Jade, stop it!”

I saw the flashing headlights before Mina.

“Mina!” I screamed. “Watch out!” But it was too late. It was all a blur of bright lights, glass, smoke, and Mina’s lifeless body sprawled out across the hood.

“Mina! Mina! MINA!” I sobbed into the darkness, trying to catch the low sobs in my chest.

“Sweetheart, it was just a nightmare. I’ve got you,” Oliver soothed, kissing my shoulder. I closed my eyes, concentrating on his gentle touch to help calm me. “It’s okay.”

“I’m sorry,” I winced. I’d lost count of how many times I’d woken him up this week.

“These nightmares are becoming more regular.”

“It’s the anniversary of her death tomorrow. I’m like this every year.”

“What can I do to help? I’ll do anything.”

“You’re already doing it,” I sighed, moving to rest my head on his chest. “Just hold me.”

“Always,” he whispered, kissing my hair before I began to drift to sleep again.

I sat at the breakfast table, staring into my mug of coffee.

“You don’t have to come to work if you’re not feeling up to it today,” Oliver sighed, his voice full of concern.

“I’m fine,” I smiled sadly, looking up into his dark, tired eyes. He looked as exhausted as I felt. “It’s better for me to be at work. It will be a good distraction.”

“We could both take the day off. I could take you out for the day to help take your mind off things.”

“No,” I giggled at his wonderful words. I didn’t deserve him. He was too good for me. “I know how busy your calendar is today. Plus, you have that meeting with Imogen Windom after lunch.”

“Yeah, that’s
not
going to make me want to go into work,” he snorted. I held back a chuckle.

“She’s been hassling you about this meeting for weeks.”

“I still have no idea what she wants. It probably has something to do with my uncle.” He took my hand in his across the table. “If it will help for me to take the day off, I can. We could have lunch somewhere, go to a few galleries.” He made it sound so wonderful, but it didn’t matter what we did today. Mina would be at the front of my mind regardless.

“No, I can’t pull you from your work commitments, no matter how wonderful you’re making it sound.”

“We could spend the entire day in bed?” he purred, his voice laced with sex. “You hardly slept last night.”

“Don’t tempt me with sex,” I pouted. “That’s not fair.”

“I know for a
fact
that it would take your mind off things.” All day sex with Oliver—now
that
was tempting.

“You might be right, but that isn’t quite facing up to my past, is it? Letting you make me forget everything with your talented fingers and tongue…”

“Talented, huh?” he winked.

“You know what you do to me,” I giggled, shaking my head at him.

“All I want is to see you happy, Jade. I’d do anything to put a smile on your face today.”

“Trust me, having you here with me is already making everything easier.”

“Spend the day with me in my bed, Beautiful. I want it, too, so much,” he pleaded, standing up and pulling me with him. When his lips brushed softly against mine, I was lost. He’d won—a day in bed it was.

“You could have gotten out of your meeting with Imogen another way, you know,” I giggled, feeling his lips travel down my stomach.

“I don’t need Imogen as an excuse to keep you in my bed all day,” he murmured into my overheating skin. “I’d have cancelled a meeting with a world leader if I had to today.”

“Can you do that? They are
world leaders
—aren’t they kind of busy?”

“Do you really want to talk about work right now?” he mused, looking up at me. “I was hoping I was
taking your mind elsewhere?”

“Mmm…maybe you need to try a little harder.”

“Harder?” He had a playful smile on his face. “I can do that if you want, Beautiful.” He hooked his hands into the sides of my panties, quickly removing them. “I was going to warm you up first, but you wanted it
harder
, so brace yourself.” The moment he parted my legs, I closed my eyes and waited for his onslaught. His tongue began to lap across my clit moments later. I’d never get enough of him in between my thighs.

I groaned as he began his full attack, licking my clit so quickly that I was losing my mind. “I could listen to your groans of pleasure for hours.” He sucked my clit into his mouth, humming in appreciation.

“F…fuck,” I panted, clinging to his hair as I began to shudder.

“That’s it, Beautiful, lose yourself—give it all to me.” I began to convulse as my orgasm rocked through my body. “We’re far from done yet,” he whispered, dragging me on top of him, slamming me down onto his waiting cock. He started to move me up and down while thrusting up toward me, hitting places inside me that sparked moments of euphoria and began to burn, only becoming stronger. Damn, could Oliver fuck. I’d never get enough. “Do you like riding me?” he panted, palming my breasts once I found my own rhythm. My hands were on his chest, and I couldn’t stop digging my nails into his skin as I climaxed again. I watched him come undone beneath me, and slowly rode out his release, milking everything he had.

“I like watching you cum underneath me,” I gasped after I’d collapsed on his chest.

“Same here,” he chuckled, kissing my forehead.

Spending the entire day in bed with Oliver might have been one of the best days I’d spent with him so far. Since we’d declared our love for each other, he was so carefree when he wasn’t worrying about work. It took years off of him.

“I’ll go and see what Mrs. Davis left us to eat,” he muttered, stroking my hair. “I don’t know about you, but all the mind blowing sex has given me quite an appetite.”

“Mmm,” I sighed, still in a state of bliss. “Maybe you should call your office, too.”

“That can wait until tomorrow.”

“I can’t believe you haven’t looked at your phone once.”

“I told you today was about you. Work can wait one day.” He pecked my lips and darted out of bed, pulling some sweats on before heading downstairs.

I always dreaded this day each year, but Oliver had made such a difference. He didn’t take the guilt I felt away, but the fact he still loved me after knowing what I did gave me hope.

“She’s left us cold meat and bread. I can bring it up there or we can eat downstairs—it’s up to you,” Oliver called from the bottom of the stairs.

“I’ll come down. Give me a second,” I replied, qui
ckly throwing on my nightgown.

He was already putting some salad in a bowl when I joined him in the kitchen.

“What?” he smirked, turning around as I gaped at him. He was so domesticated for a multibillionaire.

“Yo
u’re making dinner?” I giggled.

“It’s a salad
, Jade. I know how to do that.”

“Still, it’s nice watching you move around your kitchen. Although, it might have something to do with you being topless.”

“I could be more than topless if you want,” he challenged with a gleam in his eye.

“The naked chef? Mmm…that might get a little dangerous. You wouldn’t want to burn any important parts of your body. Not to mention, you would give poor Mrs. Davis a heart attack if she saw you.”

“True,” he snorted, placing the salad and cold meat on the kitchen counter. “I wouldn’t want to scald my most precious tool. I’ll keep it in my sweats for now.”

“Do you need me to do anything?” I laughed.

“You could pour us a glass of wine. I just need to slice the bread Mrs. Davis made.”

“She looks after you well,” I mused, stretching to get two glasses. “I wouldn’t even know how to make fresh bread.”

“She has a thing about me eating foods of convenience. She cooks fresh meals to prove a point, I think.”

“She’s right. Fast food isn’t good for you—there’s too much fat and salt.”

“I only have it on occasion. You know that. Plus, I work out five times a week at my gym. I’m allowed a treat now and then.” Oliver suddenly reminded me of something I had wanted to ask him.

“How much does it cost to join the gym in this building?” I was missing my regular exercise back at headquarters.

“Are you thinking of joining?”

“I like to work out. I might take up running in Central Park, too.”

“I could go running with you,” he commented, placing a basket of bread on the table before taking a seat as I joined him with two glasses of red wine.

“Don’t take offense, but I like to run alone. It helps to clear my head.”

“It’s okay, Beautiful. I understand.” He stroked a stray strand of hair from my face. “I own shares of the gym in the basement. You don’t need to pay. I’ll let them know you’re joining and then give you th
e access code to get in later.”
