Devon caught a glimpse of the lights twinkling against the darkness of the room as she came up from another dip and moved to an upright position. They danced through several more songs, but she lost track of how many. All she could think of was how badly she wanted to taste him.

“I didn’t know you could dance,” she whispered as they twirled once more.

“You never asked,” Donovan whispered back, then moved them towards the main doors of the auditorium.

Devon glanced up to ask where they were going, but he clasped her hand in his and ran down one of the side hallways, pulling her with him. When they reached the end of a hallway, he opened what looked like a panel in the wall.

“Oh! It’s a door.”

“Come on and be quiet.” He led her through the opening and into the corridor. Several minutes later, he stopped and unlocked the door to his office.

“How did we get here?” She walked past him, then gasped. There were candles lined up and down his desk and a small bunch of floating ones slightly bobbing in a large water filled bowl in the middle of the table by the couch.

“There is a system of tunnels.” He slid the lock closed then focused his attention on her.

“What do you feel like doing?” A cold shudder ran down over her body as his fingertips trailed down her face and rested at her hip.

“Take your clothes off.”

Devon felt a wave of heat flush over her and it washed out the icy feeling. She reached down to unbuckle her shoe.

“Leave those on.”

“Okay,” she agreed quickly, though still unsure of his plans. She reached behind her back to undo each tie on her dress. She had picked it out solely to match the perfect amethyst eyes staring at her now.

I thought the corset bodice would look sexy, but these damn ties!
Devon cursed in her mind as the ribbon snagged on her fingers.

“Do it slowly, I’m in no rush.”

His patience combined with the smirk on his lips allowed her to refocus on the task. She smiled up as the top loosened and she undid each clasp.

“Wait.” He took a step forward and raised her arms over her head. He caught the husk in his hand then brushed his fingers across her nipples. Donovan gave her a wicked smile, set the corset down, then stepped back. “Keep going.”

Devon felt her nipples harden under his touch but placed her hands at the back of her skirt and unzipped it. The bottom of her outfit gathered in a pool of fabric at her feet and she stepped out. She looked down at herself, wearing only her panties and heels. “Should I take the rest off?”

“No. Come here and do me.”

“Yes…” She had wanted to add “sir” or even his name.
Hell, if I’d said “fuck yeah” it would have been better than my pathetic reply.

She willed her feet to propel her forward until she could reach his jacket. Devon slipped one arm out, then the other, then turned to the buttons of his vest. They were shiny black and were tiny, but she managed to keep them all in place without popping one off. Her fingers trembled as she set that his vest down and reached for his tie.

“Look at me.”

“Sure.” She breathed out sigh of relief and unwound the silky material from his neck and dropped it on top of his other clothes. Then she began undoing the buttons on his dress shirt.
Holy crap, I have no patience.
The mental image of her ripping his shirt off passed through her mind, and then she added his shirt to the pile.

“You have less on than I do. Remedy that.” Donovan cupped her cheek.

“Right.”
Where the hell did all my lines run off to?
She took the belt buckle in one hand and the edge of it in the other.

“It might be hard for you to see what you are doing. Change your perspective and get on your knees.”

Devon tried to answer but nothing came out, so she sank to the floor.
Dear gods, the anticipation is killing me!
She zeroed in on the tiny silver prong instead and worked the belt through the loops of his pants. Her hands eagerly came back to his waist, and she unbuttoned them, then unzipped the fly. He tugged off the pants and pushed them to the side.

“You look so beautiful in candlelight.”

“I thought you were going to tell me how good I looked in this position.” Her attitude peeked through and it earned her a swat across her panties.

“Your bratty attitude is not going to ruin this moment.”

“How are you—” Devon squeaked when he tweaked her nipple “—going to keep me quiet?”

“There are so many possibilities.” Donovan smiled down at her. “Show me what else you can do with your mouth.”

“All of my sexy words ran away when you focused on me.” She ran her hands up his shins, over his knees, and rested on his thighs. In a bold move Devon found the opening to his boxers and licked around the head of his cock. She felt his fingers tangle in her hair as she took more of him in. She forced her gaze upwards to see his eyes half shut.

“You feel incredible.”

“Mm-hmm,” Devon hummed while keeping her attention to the task. She sucked him off slowly at first, then went faster until he tugged her head back by her hair and kissed her. As he released her, she winked and licked back down his cock. She loved the feeling of him growing hard in her mouth as she moved her mouth over him, hard and fast, just like she wanted him to do to her pussy.

Devon trailed her fingers down his shaft as she hummed then back up as she moved faster. She alternated between moving fast and slow until suddenly he pulled out of her mouth.

“I can’t wait another minute.” Donovan gathered her up in his arms and laid her down on the couch. He dipped down to meet her hips and slid himself inside her clenching pussy.

“Why did you do all this?” Devon had already been wet from the moment he had extended his hand to her and pulled her onto the dance floor, and she arched up to allow him full access. She wrapped her legs around him and he caught her around the waist.

“Uh-uh. Questions later.” Donovan bounced her up and down. “No more talking.”

“How will you keep me quiet now?” She grinned as she moved her hips up and down and loved how he felt buried inside her. He increased the speed of his hips and captured her mouth. She hit an endorphin rush seconds later and came while moaning loudly into his mouth.

Devon awoke in the guest room of Donovan’s house to someone banging on the front door.
When did he bring me here?
She rubbed her eyes and got out of bed. “I’m so naked.” She looked around for her robe. “Aha!”

Devon spied it on one of the knobs of the tall dresser near the window. She slipped it on, tied it shut, and hurried out to see who needed something.

“Just a minute! I’m coming!” Devon bounded down the steps to the front door and opened it to reveal Lucy. “What are you doing here?” Since she had moved back in with Donovan, she’d only talked to Lucy on the phone.

“Look, I need you to come back to my house. I’ve got a lot of things to tell you.”

“Can you just explain them here?”

“I’m not exactly welcome here. I don’t want to come inside. Please? This is really important,” Lucy insisted, looking around cautiously.

“Fine. Let me get dressed. I’ll be right back,” Devon assured her quickly, then went to throw clothes on. She grabbed her beat up jeans and a tee-shirt along with her flip flops and got into them while hopping down the hall. She locked the door and stepped onto the porch.

“Come on. Let’s go through the woods.” Lucy motioned for her to follow.

Devon glanced over at her as they walked through the woods. She thought they were going back to the house on campus but this way led to where Lucy’s pack lived. “What do you need to say?”

“I asked Josh and his brother to shake you up the night you went out to The Barking Log.” Lucy brushed her eyes with the back of her hand as tears welled over them.

“Why? I mean how… what the hell were you thinking?” Devon stopped dead in her tracks and shook her head, unable to process what she just heard.

“I didn’t like your choice of company and I wanted to show you I could help. I had no idea Nick would nearly kill you. And all I managed to do was make you and Donovan closer. I’m so sorry!” Lucy took her arm. “Please believe me!”

“What else?”

“The night with the alcohol… I made the drinks really strong. I wanted to make up for the first time and I fucked up. I knew something was wrong when I couldn’t wake you up the next morning. Donovan came to the house because I guess you missed his class and he found me sobbing. I pulled myself together but got nasty with him because once again, he rescued you.”

“Oh, Lucy. I don’t love you less than him. I understand why you did it, but I could have died. If Josh hadn’t convinced his brother to drop me at Donovan’s house, I may have.”

“I know!” Lucy threw her arms around her neck. “I know. Please, come and hear his side too.”

“I don’t really want to go there.” Devon felt a pit form in her stomach. “Can’t we go back to our place?”

“Most of the pack, including Josh, isn’t allowed on campus unless in they’re in class or doing sports. My alpha made the decision and what he says happens.” Lucy pulled away from her. “Please? This is really important to me.”

“Fine, but I can’t stay long. Donovan will be home soon and I want to be there.”

They approached the house and immediately caused an uproar. Devon had stayed there all summer so she could not understand the rage Ben Brinkham let out when he found them sitting in the living room together. Josh had assured him he would take care of everything, but Ben wouldn’t listen to reason.

“You have no idea the sort of position you just put us in!” Ben stormed across the room while he ran his hands through his hair and shook his head. He looked furious and concerned at the same time.

“Alpha! I had to explain what I did. This is all my fault!” Lucy sobbed as she tried to keep in step with him.

“Go out and wait for him so you can explain,” Josh told Ben. “I’ll stay here with both of them.”

“I don’t understand. Is there some faux pas going on?” Devon bit the inside of her cheek. She had never seen Lucy so disturbed.

“I can’t get Don on his phone.” Ben punched the number again but it went to voicemail. “Damn it! You cannot do things without permission, Lucy!”

“I say we give him a reason to be angry.” Nick appeared in the doorway with a scowl on his face.

“Go outside and stay there. Your actions have not helped anyone.” Ben nodded to the door. “Go on.”

“I figure if the vampire wants a reason to come here on our land, we really show him.” Nick let out a short, dry laugh. “I can’t wait for him to get here!”

“You don’t get it! This is his land, not ours.” Ben slammed his son up against the wall. “You’re way out of line!”

“I’m not the only one who wants to fight, Alpha! We can take out the leech.” Nick shook his father off. “There are more of us.”

“Don’t talk about Donovan like that!” Devon jumped to her feet. “You stupid, arrogant prick!”

Nick growled and lunged at her, but Lucy blocked the impact, throwing herself protectively in front of Devon. Josh reacted first, throwing his brother through the large picture window and following him outside.

“Oh!” Devon knelt down and pulled her friend into her lap. “Lucy!” Her friend had an obvious dislocated shoulder along with dozens of bruises blossoming across her collarbone and upwards.

“Stay here until I come back. Understand?” Ben disappeared and returned with an ice pack. “Just talk to her and don’t let her fall asleep. She’ll be okay.”

“She needs help right now! You can’t go out there and leave me in here with her!”

“Little girl, you listen close to me. Don’t let her fall asleep.” He handed the ice to Devon. “I’ll be right back.”

“No!” She shot up to her feet. “Lucy needs a doctor—”

Ben took hold of her chin and squeezed hard until her lips pursed. “I know this is hard to understand, but I’ve got to go outside or my pack could turn on each other. Sit down and do as you’re told, or I’ll hand deliver you back to Don with your ass as red as a stop sign.”

Devon blinked up at him as he released her chin. “I’m sorry.”
His hands are massive!
I don’t want to give him any reason to spank me!
She held the ice under Lucy’s head.

“Good,” Ben said, then rushed outside.

Moments later, the sound of howling surrounded the house.

“I’m so sorry. This is all my fault!” She tried to block out the sounds of the wolves fighting, but she felt horribly exposed and the noises further unsettled her. She curled around Lucy and held the ice in place. “I really fucked up too. I shouldn’t have come here.”

Devon rubbed Lucy’s back and whispered soothing words. Yes, Lucy had seriously messed up, but she had meant to protect her. She didn’t understand Lucy’s aversion to vampires, but maybe in time they could learn to get along—at least for Devon’s sake.

“You saved my life. I know you always try to do what’s best for me.” Devon cringed as her friend whimpered in pain. “I’m so sorry. Ben will be back really soon.”

Devon continued to soothe her friend and talk to her while she waited. Finally, she heard Ben’s voice from the hallway. “She’s in here.”

Donovan stepped into the room, followed closely by Ben and Josh. He said nothing as he approached, but the agitation came through when she saw the darkness of his eyes.

“She—she’s in pain.” Devon blinked away tears. “If she hadn’t blocked him—I mean if I—”

“Hey.” Donovan grabbed her chin. “Just stay here a minute okay?” He watched Ben cradle Lucy in his arms. “Is she going to be okay?”

“Yes, I’ve got a doctor on the way.” Ben glanced down at Devon. “Be thankful she protected you. Josh, stay here and watch her please.”

“I’ll be right back.” Donovan kissed her cheek and let go.

Devon eyed Josh suspiciously as the two men left. He looked awful and probably blamed her for all the crap Lucy had to deal with. His chest had deep scratches across it in various stages of healing, as well as a huge bruise on the left side of his face.

“This isn’t your fault.” Josh sank down into the couch.
