was originally created and published in Japanese which reads right-to-left as opposed to left-to-right as in English. For the purposes of maintaining the integrity of the art and story flow of the book, that right-to-left orientation is reflected in this English-language edition of
Cirque Du Freak
, giving the impression that the book reads back-to-front.

For someone who has never before read a book this way, it can seem disconcerting at first but is really quite easy. Simply begin reading at the upper right hand corner of the page and move through the word balloons and the panels in a right-to-left progression. The diagram below will help give you a feel for the “movement” of the story:
