Killke
[CP].
Style of ceramics dating to the late Intermediate Period and found in the Cuzco area of Peru. First recognized by J. H. Rowe , Killke pottery is characterized by globular forms, white or buff slip coating, and simple geometric decoration, usually in black or black on red.
kill site

Place where one or more animals were killed and butchered by hunters. They are represented archaeologically by animal bones, weapons, and butchery tools, and sometimes traps or other devices constructed or used by the hunters to enhance their chances of success.
kiln

A kind of oven, purpose-built for firing pottery, bricks, or other kinds of ceramic materials. At its most simple, a
clamp kiln
need comprise no more than a pile of fuel on which is placed the material to be fired, the whole being covered with a layer of turf or sods before the fuel is lit from below and allowed to burn through. In the
updraught kiln
a firebox contains the source of heat which can be stoked and replenished as necessary, the hot gases and smoke from the fire being drawn through a chamber in which the material to be fired has been stacked. The chamber may be above or to one side of the firebox.
Kimberley point

Bifacially worked stone and flint projectile tips found mainly in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and traded widely in northern and central Australia. Fashioned using pressure flaking, Kimberley points sometimes have serrated edges. They were being made at European contact, and have been made since, using materials such as glass and porcelain. The antiquity of form is not, however, known.
Kimmeridge Shale

A soft, fine-grained rock quarried in Dorset in the Iron Age and the Roman period. Manufactured articles include parts of furniture.
