Cheddar ware

A regional type of late Saxon pottery (Saxo-Norman pottery) dating to the period ad 850 to ad 1150 manufactured in central Somerset, England.
cheekpiece
[Ar].
Component of a horse bridle comprising a crescentic section of brow tine from a red deer's antler, perforated with a central hole or slot for the soft mouthpiece of rope or leather, with perforations above and below for a bifurcate rein. Early examples are found in the early Bronze Age of the Carpathian Basin dating to the mid 2nd millennium

; they appear soon afterwards in northern and western Europe, although generally less heavily decorated than their southern counterparts.
cheese press

A type of small, flat-bottomed ceramic dish with holes and concentric ridges in the bottom, sometimes with a flat matching lid. Presumed to have been used for making a moist cottage-type cheese.
Chelsea sword
[Ar].
Early type of bronze sword found in southern Britain, having a leaf-shaped blade, flat section, and hilt tang. These were local copies of various imported weapons of Hallstatt A type from mainland Europe by

smiths.
Ch'en Dynasty
[CP].
Last of the southern Chinese dynasties of the period of division between north and south, spanning the period ad 557 to ad 588. Conquered by the Sui Dynasty which reunited the empire, the Ch'en was a brief and undistinguished period.

An architectural style of the Lowland Maya of central Yucatan current during the later 1st millennium
ad
. Characterized by the use of elaborately decorated pre-cut veneer slabs, a preference for earth-monster motifs, and the construction of towerless single-storey buildings. Good examples can be seen at Hochob, Mexico.
