Anthony stared at the tree in the middle of his living room.
The cut tree. He turned his attention to his mate, Silver, who stood proudly by
his kill.
“You murdered a tree and mounted its corpse in our house?
Have you learned nothing during our time together?”
They might not have been together long, but Silver should’ve
picked up on Anthony’s opinion about slaughtering trees to celebrate the
holidays.
Silver scowled. “I didn’t murder it! I got it from a tree
farm. It was raised for cutting!”
“A tree isn’t a chicken or a cow to be raised and eaten for
nutrition, it’s an innocent plant chopped down so you can dangle sparkly things
on it for a few weeks!” Outrage filled Anthony’s voice. He tamped down his
anger. The magic barely contained in his body crackled through him, willing to
come out and destroy the abomination in his living room.
“I thought you’d like it.” A tinge of hurt filled Silver’s
voice.
Anthony sighed even as he couldn’t stop the words from
escaping his mouth. “You thought I’d enjoy a dead tree. My mother is a forest
witch.” What had his mate been thinking?
“Oh.” Silver’s shoulders deflated. Anthony sighed. He walked
over to his lover and wrapped his arms around Silver’s waist. “I thought you
would like decorating it with me. We don’t get a lot of time together lately.”
Anthony kissed Silver gently on the lips. “It’s okay. Since
it’s freshly cut I can still fix it.”
“How are you going to do that?”
“Like this.” Anthony turned, then pointed his hands out
toward the tree. He closed his eyes, focusing inward. He could fix this.
Concentrating on the thread of life still lingering in the wood, Anthony pushed
his energy toward the tree.
A loud crackling noise echoed in the room. The tree grew
roots that spread out across the floor.
“Nice. How are you going to keep it alive.”
Anthony smirked. “My magic can keep it healthy until after
Christmas. My mother’s power runs in my veins. After the holiday I’ll teleport
it to the forest.”
“Huh, I thought you got all your power from your father’s
side.” Silver tilted his head and examined Anthony.
“My mother might not be related to a god, but she’s in touch
with her magic. Don’t underestimate her.”
“I know better than to underestimate anyone in your family.”
Silver’s wry tone made Anthony laugh.
He pulled off his shirt and tossed it to one side. “I’ve got
better things to do than discuss my parents.”
Silver licked his lips. “Mm, me too.”
Anthony kicked off his shoes before stripping off the rest
of his clothing. No one looked sexy in socks and nothing else.
Silver’s low growl made Anthony smile. He loved it when his
mate lost a bit of his control. Silver pounced, taking Anthony to the floor. He
protected Anthony’s skull from hitting the tile with one large hand.
“Did I mention how much I love you?” Silver’s eyes glowed in
the dim light. He didn’t usually bother turning up the brightness of the lights
if Anthony wasn’t home since shifters could see in the dark.
“Not since this morning.” Anthony pretended to think about
it for a bit. “Oh, you might have called me this afternoon and mentioned it.”
“Good. I wouldn’t want you to forget.”
Silver might be the big tough alpha to the pack, but he was
foremost Anthony’s mate.
Anthony captured his mate’s mouth to stop any more talking.
He didn’t want conversation with the hard, muscular man pinning him down—he
wanted sex. Heat poured through Anthony’s body like molten lava, almost burning
him from the inside. He would never have enough of Silver’s love.
Their tongues dueled for dominance even though he knew it
would be a short battle. Silver had more alpha traits and Anthony couldn’t be
any happier about that fact. His brief alpha wolf transformation had been hard
on their relationship. He was happy to put that behind him now.
Silver got to his feet, then reached down and lifted Anthony
up. Anthony quickly wrapped his legs around Silver’s waist and let his lover
carry him to their bedroom. No words were needed. They both craved the
connection between them. The days they spent apart were hard on them but
necessary. Anthony hadn’t worked so diligently to become an architect to throw
it all away, and Silver had an entire pack to keep in line. A day apart always
made the coming together so much sweeter.
He laughed when Silver tossed him on the bed. The large
shifter removed the rest of his clothes beneath Anthony’s avid gaze. Anthony
groaned when Silver slid his underwear down his thick thighs and exposed his
erection. His mouth watered at the thought of tasting the drop of pre-cum
beading on the tip of Silver’s cock.
“Come here.” Anthony’s voice came out huskier than usual.
Silver approached the bed. “I love it when I can hear the
need in your voice. That’s when I know you really want me.”
“I always want you. Don’t ever think there’s a second of my
life where you aren’t absolutely necessary.”
Silver climbed on the bed, sliding his knees on either side
of Anthony and pinning him down. He kept his weight off of Anthony as if
worried he would crush him. “I worry sometimes that you don’t feel the bond as
much as me. Wolves don’t get a choice.”
Anthony smiled and lifted his hands to wrap his fingers
around the headboard. “I’m all yours. I’ve never even looked at another guy
since we got together. I might not be a shifter but I’m definitely bonded. I
live for you, my love. Never doubt that.” He hoped the sincerity in his eyes
would settle any concerns Silver had once and for all. A powerful alpha shouldn’t
have to worry if his boyfriend was going to stray.
Silver slid his fingers through Anthony’s hair to cradle his
head. “I know it’s foolish to worry with everything we’ve been through, but
emotions don’t always make sense.”
“Fuck me. Mark me with your scent.” Anthony tried to arch up
beneath Silver’s hold but didn’t have any luck. His mate held him still with
ease. Unless Anthony unleashed his magic, Silver could keep him in place until
he wished to let him go.
Silver growled. A low rumbling vibrated against Anthony’s
skin and had him groaning from the sensation. He wiggled, trying to get more
contact. Silver obliged him by leaning over and pressing their skin together.
“More. I need more.” The ache to have his mate inside him
gripped Anthony. His body began to hum.
“I love it when you need me so much your skin glows.”
Sometimes Anthony’s god genes took over stronger than other
times. It had been a few days since their schedules allowed them some private
time together. Anthony had missed his mate. “Fuck me, Silver, please.”
He didn’t care how desperate he sounded. It couldn’t be any
worse than how he felt.
Silver smiled. “I’ll always give you what you need, mate.”
Anthony shivered at the words as Silver’s wolf looked at out
him. The beast inside his lover enjoyed Anthony’s submission. Silver bit
Anthony’s shoulder, combining pleasure and pain in equal parts.
The connection between them snapped into place. Anthony saw
himself through his lover’s eyes. He gave strangled laugh. “No one is that
gorgeous.”
“You are,” Silver argued. “Especially when you’re displayed
and needy. I like it when you are here ready for devouring.”
“Then take me.” Anthony’s patience had snapped. “I need to
be fucked now.”
Concentrating on the side table, he levitated the lube over
to Silver.
Silver snatched it from the air. “Thanks, love. I thought
you might want it nice and slow.”
“You were wrong. I want it hard and fast. We can go slow
next time.”
Silver snapped open the top of the lube and wet his fingers
before moving to crouch between Anthony’s thighs instead of outside them. “Lift
up.”
Anthony grabbed his legs and pulled them up to expose his
hole. “Is this what you want?”
“Always.” Silver didn’t take long to prepare Anthony as they
were both too impatient. A quick slide of Silver’s fingers had Anthony’s hips
flexing despite his curled position. He pushed back at his lover’s invasion.
“More. I need your cock.” He didn’t care if he sounded
desperate. If he couldn’t whine to his soul mate, who could he beg for?
He watched through lust-clouded eyes as Silver spread lube
across his erection.
“Ready?”
“Yes.”
Silver pushed the large head of his cock into Anthony’s ass
in a slow, careful movement. Anthony released his legs, then hooked his heels
around his mate and pushed Silver the rest of the way inside.
He gasped and tightened his grip around the headboard bars,
trying not to come.
“Next time be more careful,” Silver snarled. “You could hurt
yourself.”
“I’m fine.”
“Good. I can stop being so careful then.”
Heat poured off of Silver. Even if they lived in the arctic,
Anthony could’ve gone short-sleeved as long as he stayed close to his lover. On
winter days he sometimes dreamt of his mate’s warmth.
In the well-synchronized moves of familiar lovers, they
pushed and pulled together in a dance as old as time. It took little effort
before they were both groaning out their completion.
Silver collapsed beside Anthony, careful to pull out before
tumbling to his side.
Anthony stroked Silver’s arm, still needing the constant
contact of his mate.
“I’m sorry you didn’t like the tree,” Silver said. “I wanted
you to have a nice Christmas.”
“Then wrap a bow around your neck and I’ll unwrap you
Christmas morning. You’ll be my best gift ever.”
Silver kissed Anthony, a kiss of sweet promises instead of
hot passion. “You got yourself a deal.”
“Good. Tomorrow I’m going to shop for accessories for my
Christmas gift.”
Silver narrowed his eyes at him. “What kind of accessories?”
Anthony grinned. “I’d hate to ruin the surprise.”
Luckily their mailman didn’t blush easily.

Shiny.
Dare lay on his back and batted at the sparkly things
glittering above him.
Pretty.
Sparkly.
He nipped at one of the dangly shiny things.
He spit it out.
Yuck.
Not tasty.
“Dare.”
He turned his head languidly towards the beloved voice.
“Damn it, cat, I told you to leave the tinsel alone.” The
stomping feet came closer. Dare rolled over on his stomach, the better to play
with the dangly strings on the man’s feet. His tail lashed back and forth, and
he wiggled his butt as he moved into pouncing mode.
“Don’t you pounce on me! What did you do to those presents?”
Dare tucked his massive head onto his paws and blinked
innocently. Was it his fault the paper made such a wonderful noise when it
tore?
Familiar hands gripped Dare’s tiger head, and he found
himself nose to nose with an angry wolf shifter.
“Human, now!”
Giving a tiger sigh so his lover knew how inconvenienced he
was, Dare changed from tiger to man.
“They were so pretty,” he protested as his mind scrambled
for a good defense. The presents definitely didn’t look so pretty anymore with
tiger claw marks across the paper and gently gnawed on ribbons.
“Yes, they
were
,” Steven said, but his voice no
longer sounded angry.
Dare perked up when Steven’s gaze turned hot as he stared at
Dare’s naked body like a ravenous wolf drooling over a choice piece of meat.
Bingo.
Dare sent a heated look up to his lover. “See anything you’d
like?”
“You aren’t going to seduce your way out of trouble. You
don’t know how much I hate to wrap presents.”
“Then I’ll have to make it up to you,” Dare purred. He let
the sound roll up his chest. Steven always loved Dare’s noises.
Steven pointedly looked away. “I don’t know if you can.”
Dare caught Steven’s quickly hidden smile.
“I see. Well if you’re sure there’s nothing I have that you
want.” He stood up slowly, knowing his lover was watching him through the
mirror in the hall.
“Nope.” He heard the suppressed laughter in Steven’s voice.
“Hmmm. All right, I guess I’ll be going then.”
“Aren’t you planning on putting any clothes on?”
Dare glanced over his shoulder to see his lover staring at
his ass.
“Hmm. Oh I don’t need to dress. I’m just going to visit our
neighbor. I heard a new wolf moved in yesterday.”
He took another step.
Low growling filled the room, freezing him in his spot.
Maybe he’d carried his teasing a little too far. Steven slammed into Dare,
sending him to the floor under the muscular body of his lover.
“That’s not funny, tiger boy.” Steven pinned him from
shoulder to thigh and gripped Dare’s hands so that he couldn’t even twitch if
he wanted to.
“Sorry?” Dare offered.
“Sorry isn’t good enough.”
“I thought maybe you were bored with me now that we live
together.”
Steven flipped Dare over onto his back like he was a big
pancake.
Dare laughed but quickly lost his amusement when he saw the
seriousness in his lover’s eyes.
