Oh, and one more thing—the slipknot itself. The knot that I had in mind when I titled this book was the slipped sheet bend. This is a basic knot that’s particularly useful when it comes to connecting two ropes of different diameters. It’s easy to tie and works best when under a lot of strain, like when you connect a line to the rigging or when you need extra leverage while dragging a dead body overboard.
