Chapter
Twenty Two

Once Alex
was sure Marie was asleep, she went up to the main house where she knew Ryan would be.

She got as far as the fountain and
she saw Ryan waiting for her. He looked so sexy, lit up by the moonlight, his amber eyes reflecting the lunar glow as the clouds parted in the night sky.

When she got closer she
saw how anxious he looked. “Look before you say anything I needed to do it, she’s my friend, Ryan, and I did it for Nick as well. I don’t want them to split up over this.”

“
Alex, I understand why, but you should have told me, I would have come with you.”

“
It was ok, I was invisible, no one would have sensed me arriving or leaving” said Alex.

“
Alex, you do not understand, the hunters are extra strong at the moment, they can sense us even when we’re invisible.” He placed his hands on her shoulders and looked into her eyes.

“
I was safe, Ryan, there was no one around.”

“
You can’t be sure of that, please Alex, I could have lost you tonight even before we had chance to really get to know each other, promise me this won’t happen again.”

“I promise.
Ryan, I would never do anything to hurt you, I love you, I want you with me forever but I wanted this for Marie and Nick, that was all. She needed to know before seeing Nick, not sprung on her like he wanted to, you must see that.”

“
I understand your reasons but I think you went about it the wrong way, you’re back now and you’re safe again now, and that is all that matters.” Ryan kissed her and held her close to his chest.

“
Alex, I want to show you something, I want to show you my wolf form. Do you trust me?”

“
Ryan, I will always trust you.”

Ryan stood back and
looked at her lovingly, then he began to transform in front of her eyes. It was quick, nothing horrible like you see in horror films, nothing to indicate he was in pain as he mutated. Now stood in front of her was a large bear-sized wolf, he was covered in rich brown fur, but his eyes were still the beautiful amber colour she’d noticed the first time she’d met him in her dreams.

Alex touch
ed him tentatively; his fur was soft and thick. She held his head in her hands and looked deep into his eyes, she could read the fear in his gaze, a fear he would scare her away.

Al
ex wrapped her arms around his solid neck and held him tight. She whispered into his ear, “I love you, Ryan, with all my heart. I can truly say I have never felt this feeling before. I know now it was not love I had for Gary, it was something else, but will stay with you forever and nothing will stop that from happening. I promise.”

Ryan nudge
d her with his soft cold wet nose and she let him go. He crouched low on all fours, she knew what he wanted her to do, she climbed on his back and gripped his ruff tightly. Then he raised himself up and ran. Alex had never moved so fast, she could feel the wind rushing past her ears, she now understood what he meant by feeling truly alive. He ran on through the woods, everything rushing by. Soon they came to a cliff edge. Ryan stopped. Alex dismounted him. “It’s beautiful,” she said, looking out across the rest of the woods that opened up below her and continued all the way to the sea.

Ryan changed back to his human form and Alex turned to look at him standing before her
naked. She could see every inch of him, his muscular body so strong, nothing was going to hurt her again, she had her own god to watch over her and he was everything a woman could dream of and he was all hers. She began to undress slowly feeling his eyes all over her body, it was electrically erotic. She stood now completely naked for Ryan to behold. She went to him and he held her in his arms.

He kiss
ed her softly on the mouth and she felt their mouths melt together. The kisses grew fervent and urgent, the passion was running through them both. The thrill of being in the open for the world to see, gave her a primitive excitement that she’d never felt before, it was wild and fantastic. They lay on soft leaves and moss which felt as if they had been put there on the ground just for their comfort. Ryan was inside her, riding her, kissing her breasts, going in deeper.

Alex wrapped her legs around him so he could
go enter even deeper, she wanted to feel his every last inch inside her. Soon she was exploding with pleasure, from her fingertips to her scalp she tingled with ecstasy. Alex
felt complete. She had never felt this alive before, she was free to experience love for what it was supposed to be, between two people. She couldn’t keep the grin off her face as she went up to her bedroom. She checked on Marie who was still fast asleep and then went into her room fell into a deep repose. There would be no nightmares this night.

What Alex didn’t know was that she had let evil track her back to her home. It could not enter this place of protection, but it would wait, biding its time until it had killed the last of them.

A
couple of days remained until the end of the Alignment, and then evil would enter in its true form and destroy her. How could he not have known she was the high priestess’s daughter, why after all these years did he not sense this? He had lived in his human form too long. It had clouded his mind and warped his judgement, but no longer.

If
her spirit hadn’t passed through him tonight he would have never known it was her. He would have continued his search never knowing how close he had been. Maybe never finding her until it was too late and he himself was hunted down and killed.

He was
furious that he’d allowed himself to fall in love with this woman, but now it would end, there was no way he will ever be fooled again, he had remained hidden for far too long.

Chapter
Twenty Three

Gary
got into his car and left Marie's, he had been awakened, his true form recovered. He had grown so used to this human life that he had forgotten who he really was.

If Alex had
n’t been there tonight he would have continued on in this human existence. How ironic that the one who he needed to kill had awakened him. The Alignment helped as well, of course, the blessed Alignment, how long had he waited for this day to come? Gary remembered Alex entering him before, but that hadn’t had the same effect. Why?

Alex
hadn’t known her true being then, now she did, but she is still weak, she is still learning.

I could sense this when I went through her,
thought Gary.
I will thank her for that before I take her life.

Gary chose to stay in his human form, for now, killing Alex
would have to wait until after the Alignment.

I cannot
enter that place until after the Alignment, the protection over their land will be strong and will recognise me for who I am. I shall wait and then I shall kill her and end the line of the Fleurs forever.

Gary continued driving, re
membering the threesome with Alex and the other women at his club. He loved the power possessed at the club, being able to treat women as slaves, control them to carry out his every need. He could appreciate the human need for sex and the sensations it gave him.

Alex was very good at that, it
was going to be a shame to take her from this world, not allowing others to see and feel just how good she was.

, Gary was coming through, fighting his dark side.

said the good Gary.

I owe her nothing; if I had been awake then the dark angel would not have dared to touch me. It was just a glitch. This will not make me let her live, you can keep trying to fight me, but I will win this fight

answered the dark one.

We will return to the club, I want to play, pass the time until I can return to Alex, I think I can show your new girl a thing or two don’t you? Now leave me alone, I will keep your body for now, your mind can stay also for the time being so you can watch the end of your beloved Alex
, the spirit rasped.

The beast took control, and drove at top speed
silencing Gary’s screaming consciousness.

Chapter
Twenty Four

Alex woke to the smell of bacon,
it was 7 o’clock, Marie was already up and excited about seeing Nick. Alex washed and dressed and then went down to the kitchen.

“
Morning Marie, how are you feeling today?” asked Alex already knowing the answer. She could see something had come alive in her today, Marie was glowing, she had the same sparkle that Alex had when first morning light caught her pale skin.

“
I’m great, breakfast is cooking, thought I would cook enough for guests,” answered Marie cheerily.

“You mean Nick and Ryan. They will be here soon,
that delicious smell woke me up, so I’m sure it will bring them over. I told Ryan not to mention anything to Nick, so you can surprise him,” said Alex.

“
Marie, have you noticed your skin it’s glistening?”

Marie looked and smiled,
“It’s because I’m happy I suppose, it’s never happened before.”

“
But I wasn’t happy that time when you saw it happen to me; in fact I believe I was worried.”

“
Well perhaps it picks up on intense feelings, I don’t know everything, I’m still learning myself, you know,” said Marie giggling.

Alex
grinned, she was delighted to have her friend back again. “We can learn together.”

“
Yes, that will be fun,” answered Marie. “Maybe I can learn how to make wings appear too so I can look like an angel.”

There was a knock at the door and then voices as Ryan and Nick entered the cottage. Marie
got ready for the big moment. Alex went off into the hall to greet them.

“
I’m starving, I could smell your cooking miles away, can’t wait to see what’s for breakfast,” said Nick.

“
I think you are in for a surprise,” answered Alex letting Nick pass her as she reached over and kissed Ryan on the cheek, then followed Nick through into the kitchen.

Alex a
nd Ryan stood back and watched as Nick stood stupefied, unable to believe his eyes. Tears waterfalled down Marie’s cheeks.

It was like watching something from a cheesy romance film. Marie ran towards Nick and jumped up
, wrapping her legs around him and squeezing him tight.

“Marie you’re
here, but how did you know?” Nick said, beaming from ear to ear, still holding her.

“
That would be me,” said Alex. “I hope you don’t mind. It was my way of saying thank you,” Alex was thrilled with how happy they looked.

Marie looked at Nick.
“It’s ok, Alex has told me everything, explaining why you had to leave me, I understand, I could see why you had to go. But still could have told me.”

Nick squirmed awkwardly.

“The breakfast is getting cold, we should eat and then you two can have some time alone to chat and catch up. You don’t want to put on a floor show for everyone now do you,” said Ryan going over to the table.

Nick put Marie down
but kept hold of her hand, not fully understanding what was happening, he looked at Alex and mouthed the words thank you as Marie busied herself fetching the food to the table. Alex nodded and gave him a kiss on the cheek and began to help Marie.

When
they had finished breakfast, Alex and Ryan made their excuses and left Marie and Nick alone. They began a slow walk back up to the main house.

“
Thank you for last night and not being too mad at me,” said Alex.

“
I’m still mad at you Alex, I just don’t think you understand what could have happened.”

“
I won’t need to leave again, well not until after the Alignment anyway, I just really missed my friend. Don’t get me wrong, Betty is great but she’s not Marie, plus I just wanted to give them both something, for all the help they have given me.”

“
What about me, don’t I deserve something too?” said Ryan now laughing.

“
You can have whatever you want if it will make you happy and stop worrying,” said Alex taking hold of his hand.

“
Right now, I think I want to continue where we left off last night, but maybe not so out in the open.”

“I don’t mind doing it al fresco,
that was a new experience for me, but we can always go to the house and christen a few of the rooms.”

Ryan whisked Alex up in his arms and carried
her the rest of the way only putting her down when they reached the entrance to the house, this man was
strong
.

As soon as they were inside
they began stripping off, finding it hard to keep their hands off each other. They made love right there on the hall floor, then on the living room sofa and on the dining room table. It was an irresistible fierce feeling of belonging, and needing each other, neither wanting to stop, both using their powers to keep the other going.

Ryan pulled the covers back on
to the bed and let Alex climb in next to him, he kissed her softly on the head, “Sleep now and I promise I will be the first thing you see when you open your eyes in the morning.”
