“Fuck,” he groaned against my sensitive nipple.
He ran his hand down my body, finding the ache between my legs with his skilled fingers.
“Come with me,” he whispered, his thumb working on my clit.
“There,” I gasped when he found the spot, while still fucking me hard.
I let my head fall back as the intense weight of an orgasm built up within. As my climax overtook me and my insides began to pulse, Jayce’s whole body began to tremble.
“Fuck, Kyla,” he moaned as I felt his cock spasm against my walls.
He kissed me hard, bruising my lips as his overgrown stubble brushed against my skin. He pulled away and looked at me, the passion still flaming in his emerald eyes.
“I’ve never had sex on a kitchen countertop before,” he admitted. “I like it.”
I shook my head at him and he laughed.
“No comment?” he questioned. “That wasn’t your first time in the kitchen was it?”
My cheeks warmed as I pulled my skirt down to cover my thighs and then reached around to fasten my bra. My thoughts drifted back to a drunken night at Brody’s house. We had just had a fight and it turned into desperate, frantic makeup sex in the kitchen, while his mother was asleep upstairs. Not my finest moment.
“Kyla?” Jayce poked me with his finger playfully.
I slid off the counter, easing my feet onto the floor as he studied my reaction.
“It was my first time in
this
kitchen,” I offered shyly.
“I don’t want to know!” he threw his hands in the air and walked toward the living room. I swore under my breath as I followed him, throwing my top on as I walked. He slumped back onto the soft, cushioned sofa, his hands casually hanging out of the pockets of his pants. I saw his lips curve up into a crooked smile and I knew he wasn’t upset.
I opened my mouth to speak, but he silenced me instantly by putting a finger to my lips.
“Seriously, I don’t want to know,” he taunted.
“I wasn’t going to talk about that,” I argued. “I wanted to ask you something,” I said warily.
He nodded, waiting for me to continue.
“The reason I’m still in the competition, is it because of... our personal involvement?”
“You think I’m keeping you in the competition so I can continue sleeping with you?” Jayce asked his brow furrowed as he contemplated my question.
“No,” I paused when his lips set in a thin line. “Well, are you?”
He rubbed his palms over his face as he exhaled loudly.
“I’m just asking-”
“I know what you’re asking, Kyla,” he interrupted. “The reason you’re in the competition is because you’re good. Amazing, in fact.”
“Okay,” I conceded, but he was still irritated by my question.
“Seriously, how can you think that little of me?” he asked. When I was about to respond he spoke again. “How can you think that little of yourself?”
I looked down at my lap as a wrung my fingers together, avoiding his gaze. I wished I’d never asked the question. He grabbed my hand from my lap and pulled me toward him. I rested my head against his chest, as he stroked my back softly.
“You’ve got to stop doubting yourself, Kyla. You are so talented. I’ll admit that I love having you in the competition, but I’m not just keeping you around because I’m sleeping with you.”
“I just needed to be sure,” I murmured against his chest.
He kissed the crown of my head and flicked on the television. And just like that, he let the accusation slide and went back to his calm and casual self. He changed the channel to a live basketball game, Celtics versus Lakers, he told me.
He stretched out on the couch and pulled me flush against his body, spooning me as he watched the game. His arm was wrapped around my waist and he gently stroked my belly, causing my insides to warm. I pretended to watch the game, when really, my eyes were closed as I listened to him argue with the referee, my lips curled into a smile. Life with Jayce was easy. Easier than it should have been considering he was already taken.
Chapter 17
I was awoken by tiny kisses being scattered across my forehead. I opened my eyes to find Jayce kneeling before me, smiling a gorgeous smile as my eyelids struggled to stay open.
“What time is it?” I asked, noticing it was dark out.
“Just after eleven.”
I swung my legs to the floor and sat up. Stretching my arms above my head, I let out a long, tear-inducing yawn.
“I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you,” I said.
“You liked the basketball that much, huh?” he smirked.
“I’m sorry,” I said, fighting back the urge to yawn again.
“Are you kidding? I loved it that you fell asleep in my arms. You were quite amusing actually.”
“What did I do?” I asked, my cheeks warming instantly.
“You said some things...” he trailed off.
He chuckled as he walked toward the kitchen. I followed him, now wide-awake as anxiety coursed through me. He grabbed two bottles of water from the refrigerator, handing one to me.
“What did I say?” I implored.
“Don’t look so worried. It was cute.” His lips twitched, like he was suppressing a smile.
“Jayce,” I warned. “Tell me!”
He chucked again, his eyes sparkling the way they did when he was happy.
“You were just muttering some words, mostly incoherent. When I asked what you were talking about you told me that you love me.”
My jaw dropped and I was completely speechless. Jayce walked around me, taking his water back into the living room. I followed close behind, trying to get a glimpse of his face to see if he was joking or not. He sat on the couch, in the same position as before and I looked down at him, my hands on my hips.
“Tell me you’re joking?” I insisted.
The smile remained on his face, but he didn’t say anything. I hadn’t talked in my sleep before, not that I knew of anyway. After seconds that felt like hours, Jayce finally spoke.
“Okay, you didn’t say anything,” he admitted. “But you did moan a little and you had a sweet little smile on your face.”
I grabbed a cushion from the sofa and started hitting him with it.
“You are a horrible.”
Hit
. “Mean.”
Hit
. “Lying.”
Another hit
. “Asshole.”
He was laughing, my attack obviously not inflicting any pain on him. He took the cushion from my hands and grabbed my wrists, pulling me close to his face as his expression turned serious.
“Would it be so bad if you did say it?” He released his grip on my wrists, but I could still feel the pressure of his eyes scrutinizing me.
“Say what?”
“Say that you loved me?”
My heart was racing in my chest. “Well, no.” I started, my mind racing. “But I didn’t say that!”
I stood and stalked up the stairs, my feet landing on each step with a loud thud. Jayce remained on the couch with a bewildered look on his face. I couldn’t explain why I was so upset. Perhaps it was because I desperately did not want to love Jayce, but I was so sure that I did. I was certain that he knew it too. I was scared to love him, because I was afraid that he would break my heart. And that was my last thought before I fell asleep alone in Jayce’s bed.
I hadn’t had such a good nights sleep in recent memory. Jayce’s bed was comfortable, the sheets felt like silk underneath my bare skin. I fell asleep before Jayce made his way to bed and the block-out blinds meant I’d slept well past nine. I rolled over and found Jayce’s side of the bed empty, although the sheets were rumpled, where Jayce’s body had been. I was relieved that he still slept next to me after my outburst the night before.
“Hey gorgeous.” He startled me as he walked in from the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his hips. My eyes lingered on his chest where a few beads of water had fallen from his wet hair. He dropped his body onto the bed and gently kissed my shoulder. I let my hand brush his damp chest, enjoying the feel of the hard muscles and soft skin beneath my fingertips.
“Good morning,” I said hesitantly.
“Still grumpy?” he asked, a smile threatening his lips.
“No.” I smiled shyly.
I watched him remove the towel from around his waist. He wiped his damp hair before throwing the towel to the floor and joining me under the covers.
“I’m sorry about last night,” I started, but Jayce put a finger to my lips to silence me.
“Don’t worry,” he said softly. “I shouldn’t joke about things like that.”
I bent forward and kissed his lips, only anticipating a quick peck, but he kissed me back with force. He tasted of mint and he smelled luscious. He moved me onto my back, as he pinned my hands above my head, binding my wrists together with one hand as the other explored every inch of my body. His fingertips drew a line from my neck, along my collarbone and dipped between my breasts. A shiver ran down my spine as his erotic exploration of my body continued. His fingers made their way underneath the thin fabric of my panties. His hand cupped my sex, causing me to lick my lips hungrily. When he rocked his hand back and forth, I gently tugged at the corner of my lip with my teeth. It was all I could do to stop myself from whimpering.
He slipped one finger inside me and his eyes widened instantly.
“So wet for me, baby.”
I raised my hips, grinding against his palm, my breathing hitched as he continued to fondle. He lowered his head to my breasts, kissing and licking until my nipples hardened.
“Oh God,” I moaned as he continued stroking me.
His eyes were wide with excitement as he pulled his finger out of me, brought it to his mouth and licked it.
“You taste so good,” he told me. He met my lips and kissed me, his tongue wild in my mouth. Hovering above me, he rested his weight on his forearms as his penis rocked against me.
“Can I?” he asked, as his head dipped slightly between my folds.
I brought my hand between us and guided him inside. He delved in once, slowly at first, then he thrust in again and I moaned as he filled me completely.
He kissed my ear, flicking his tongue inside and then breathing heavily next to my lobe, which always set me on fire. I raised my hips to meet his every thrust, tightening my walls around him as he drove into me.
“I want you to come while I’m inside you,” he breathed against my ear.
He grabbed my hand and brought it between us.
“Play with yourself,” he whispered, burying his cock deep inside of me.
I eyed him shyly.
“For me?” he asked as he kissed my lips.
It was something I’d never done during sex and I would have been deadly embarrassed, if it wasn’t so damn hot. I covered my fingers over his, helping him rub the spot that would make me explode. Jayce’s lips came crashing to mine, a desperate, passionate kiss as he murmured, “I’m close.”
His mouth trailed to my breasts, sucking at them hungrily and I couldn’t stop the moans from escaping.
“I’m gonna come,” I tried to say, but it came out as a plea.
As he rammed into me, I removed my fingers and an explosive orgasm overtook my body.
“Jayce! Oh, Jayce!” I moaned, biting into his shoulder as I felt his warmth pool between my legs. Panting, he collapsed on top of me, his body covered in tiny beads of sweat.
“I love it when you say my name as you come,” he breathed.
I grimaced and covered my face with my hands, completely mortified that he’d said such a thing.
“Why do you do that?” he asked.
“Do what?”
“Hide your face from me.”
“Because you embarrass me to no end!”
He laughed and shook his head. “Nothing about what just happened here should embarrass you.”
I could still feel the pink warming my cheeks as he kissed my shoulder tenderly.
“I need to take a shower.” I rolled to the edge of the bed, but Jayce grabbed my hand, holding me in place.
“You don’t want me to shower here?” I asked, attempting to get up again. He kept hold of my wrist, his grip so tight that it was digging into my skin.
“Seriously, Jayce,” I eyed him. “I’m all sweaty…”
“Come away with me this weekend,” he blurted out.
Jayce was flying to Florida for the weekend. Frankie, the drummer in his band, was originally from Miami and they had signed up to play at his old high school. The event was a fundraiser. Shows in the name of charity were something that Artificial rarely turned down. Jayce was flying out on Friday night and would return to California on Monday morning.
“I can’t do that.” I secretly wished we could go away together. Go to dinner, catch a plane, hold hands in public, but that wasn’t possible with our existing
‘arrangement’
.
“Why not? I’ve got the appearance on Saturday morning, you could fly over in the afternoon and spend the night in Miami.” I looked at his face to confirm he was serious.
“And how do we explain this?” I asked.
“We’ll have to stay inside the hotel room, but I promise it’ll be worth it,” he brought my hand to his mouth and kissed the back of it tenderly. “I will book your flights and arrange a car to pick you up.” He attempted to pout. “Please.”
I was flattered by how much he wanted me to go, but deep down I knew it wasn’t a good idea. I was already falling for this man. Another weekend together seemed like too much, too soon. I needed to put some space between us, to protect myself if anything.
I tried to stand, but Jayce swooped in on me, wrapping his arm around my waist, he pulled me on top of the bed. He pushed me onto my back and sat on top of me, pinning my hands above my head.
“Say it,” he said.
“Say what?” I winced and tried to move under his weight.
“Say you’ll come away with me.”
I giggled as I defiantly tried to push him off with my hips. He bent down and kissed my neck from one side to the other, which always caused me to melt and he knew it.
“No,” I giggled and bucked my hips once more.
He kissed my cheek gently and then licked my bottom lip, slow and sensual.
“Please,” he breathed heavily into my ear. “Please,” he gently nibbled on my ear lobe. “Please...”
I looked into his eyes. They were full of warmth and happiness. I gently kissed his pouting lips and admired his gorgeous face.
