Chapter Three: The Ex-Wife

When Alyssa returned to work the next day she was still noticeably distraught over her mother's situation. Even the coworkers that did not know Alyssa very well could tell that she was upset. Several people approached her during the day to ask her what was wrong and if she was okay. Alyssa just said that her mother was ill and she left it at that. She didn't want anyone to know the truth. She was both embarrassed and ashamed of the situation her mother was in. She was equally embarrassed that she had to go to a shady loan place and plead for money to get her mom out of trouble. Anyway saying that her mom was sick wasn't a lie exactly; addiction is a type of illness after all. Alyssa just hoped and prayed that this latest incident would be the push her mom needed to finally get some help.

Later that day Jack Coleman made his way over to Alyssa's cubicle. He flashed a warm and inviting smile in her direction. She held her breath and forced a smile of her own as he approached her. He was so handsome and so tremendously powerful that Alyssa was downright intimidated by his presence. The fact that he was also gentle and kind should have eased her mind, but it only added to her nervousness. Jack Coleman was unlike any other man she had ever known. He seemed too perfect to be real. He came closer and he leaned on the cubicle wall to speak with her.

"Are you, okay? I heard that you took the day off yesterday. I just wanted to make sure that everything was alright," he said with genuine concern in his voice.

"I'm...I'm sorry that I missed work. My mother is very ill. I told her I couldn't miss any more days," Alyssa stammered. She was hoping that he was not angry with her for calling off of work.

"Oh, no. You are not in trouble, not at all. You are entitled to some personal days for these kinds of situations. You can take some more time off if you need to. Several of your coworkers mentioned that you looked upset and so I was a bit concerned. I just wanted to check in on you, and make sure that you were okay."

Jack smiled and he reached out to touch her arm in a gesture of comfort and reassurance. She delighted in his touch. It was not intended to be unprofessional in any way but it felt loving and comforting. She wanted so desperately for it to be something more. If only she could just reach out for him, to hold him and kiss those
sweet lips. Oh to be wrapped up in those strong, powerful arms! Alyssa tried to banish these thoughts and just talk to him.

"No, I think she'll be alright. I am a bit worried but I am okay to work. I want to work," she said with a nervous laugh.

"Okay, well you let me know if you need anything at all. If you feel like you need to go home, just come and tell me. Otherwise we are happy that you are here. You are doing a great job, Alyssa."

       With this final thought
Jack headed off to his office. Alyssa sank down in her chair. She was both relieved at the knowledge that she was not in trouble and flustered from talking to Jack. It was hard enough to talk to him on a normal day and even it was even harder today considering that she was an emotional train wreck. Alyssa made her way to the ladies room after Jack left. She looked at her reflection and was horrified to see that she had noticeable dark circles under her eyes and a look of great sadness on her face. It was no wonder that everyone was concerned about her. She looked horrible! Oh and Jack had talked to her, he had seen her like this! Alyssa heaved a frustrated sigh and tried to touch up her makeup the best that she could. She wasn't able to hide the bags under her eyes and she looked even more upset than she did before she tried to fix herself up.

When Alyssa got back from the bathroom she noticed a tall, blonde woman getting off of the elevator. The woman was positively gorgeous in a way that left Alyssa both envious and intrigued. She was clearly a woman of privilege as she was wearing high end
clothing and jewelry. Alyssa thought she looked like an actress or maybe even a model. Alyssa watched the woman as she walked toward Jack's office and knocked on his door. June happened to be walking by at this very moment and Alyssa asked her if she knew who that woman was. Just as the woman disappeared into Jack's office, June said that she was Jack's ex-wife.
Of course she is.
Alyssa thought with sickened jealousy.  She couldn't help but think that although she was very pretty herself, she could not complete with a woman like the former Mrs. Coleman. She might as well be competing with one of the Victoria Secrets models or one of Hugh Hefner's beauties. Just then the woman burst out of Jack's office. She was clearly upset and she was screaming and spouting a sailor's profanity at Jack as she walked down the hall. Jack followed close behind her, trying desperately to calm her outbursts and avoid a public display, but it was too late. He tried to take her by the arm and lead her back into his office.

"You're a real dick!" The woman screamed as she snatched her arm free from Jack's grip.

"Jade, please don't do this here. We can discuss this matter privately," Jack pleaded and he motioned toward his office door.

"Why? Afraid your little employees might think less of you if they knew how bad you were trying to screw me over? If they knew that you were taking food out of your son's mouth?!"

"Taking food out of his mouth?!" Jack screamed in an appalled and shocked tone that prompted a surprised look from nearly everyone in the office.

"I gave you a combined four million dollars in cash, property and stock assets. I gave it to you without a fight even though you were unfaithful and that was the reason for our divorce. We had a prenuptial agreement that specifically stated infidelity as a means of foregoing any combined assets. I didn't have to give you a fucking dime, but I did so that you and Jason would not only be cared for, but that you would be able to live comfortably for the rest of your lives! Then you have the nerve to march into my office and demand another six million on top of what you already have and then claim that I am somehow denying my son because I won't give in to your greed! I take care of my son. I pay for his school, his medical care, his clothes and I still contribute to his trust fund. All of those are things that I do above what is stated in our divorce decree and child support documents. I will continue to do so and to give him whatever he needs. But I will not give you another dime. The next time you decided to come in here and demand money from me you had better bring your attorney with you!"

Jack screamed back at his ex-wife with such an intense fury that no one knew what to say or do. Then he looked around and realized that everyone in the office was staring at him. Embarrassed, Jack wiped his hand across his face and sulked back into his office. Jade seemed pleased at his outburst and the clear discomfort it caused him. She walked back to the elevator with a smug look on her face.

"Wow, what a bitch," Alyssa said under her breath. June was still standing nearby and she overheard Alyssa's comment.

"That's for sure," June said as she walked back to her own desk.

For the rest of the day, Jack remained in his office and he told his secretary to hold his calls unless they were urgent. It didn't take long for the rumor mill to start spinning. People kept meeting at the water cooler and in the break room to gossip about what had happened. Alyssa didn't want to talk behind Jack's back, but curiosity was getting the better of her. Casually she went into the break room to get a cup of coffee, but she was really eavesdropping on June and another paralegal named Allison.

"I hear that Jack hasn't been with anyone since the divorce but that Jade has gone through several lovers and she was quite public about it too," said Allison with the connotation of a true eavesdropper.

"Public is an understatement. She actually filmed herself fucking two guys and she posted
the video to an amateur sex website. Then she emailed the link to Jack. How's that for a giant 'fuck you' to end a marriage," June replied in hushed tones.

"Where did you hear that?" Allison asked skeptically.

"I was working on secretarial duties that day. Jack asked me to go through his emails and sort out the junk from the important stuff. I'm the one who found the email. I didn't know that is what the link contained. It just said something like 'Jack, here is a link to some important information about our divorce.' I was there when he clicked on it. Poor Jack didn't say a word, but he went as pale as a ghost and then he shut down the computer."

June raised her eyebrows and took a sip of her coffee as she shared this new information.   At this point June noticed that Alyssa was listening and she regarded her intently. Alyssa looked down shamefully at her own coffee cup.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop. I couldn't help but overhear and well what you were saying was hard to ignore," Alyssa said sheepishly. June and Allison just laughed in response, then they invited Alyssa to join in on the conversation.

"Jack is so sweet and so incredibly good looking, I can't understand why his wife would want to cheat on him in the first place. Oh
, if only I could find a man like that," Alyssa said dreamily.

"Jack is really nice and he is handsome for sure, but Jade didn't care about that. She was in it for the money
right from the beginning and Jack knew it too. I think that was why they had a pre-nup in the first place, to minimize the drama when things inevitably fell apart" June added.

"Holy shit, this is minimal drama? What would she have done if he
had left her high and dry?" Allison asked with a bewildered expression on her face.

"Oh my God, I can only imagine! Shit would have hit the fan, that's for sure," June replied. "Anyway if you ladies are interested, that video is on a website called '
Amateur Fuck Sluts'
and it is called '
Scorned Wife Gets Double Revenge,
' but you didn't hear it from me." Then June winked at the other two ladies and she headed back to her cubicle. Allison and Alyssa decided that they had better get back to work as well.

Later that night Alyssa just couldn't help herself. She had to see if the video rumor was true. She locked her front door, turned down her lights and got out her laptop. She typed in the name of the website and it came up with hundreds of home videos of couples and amateur movies. The site featured everything from regular; every day couples to the most extreme, kinky scenarios imaginable. Alyssa wondered how she would find the right one in all amidst the sheer volume of homemade pornography. After a few seconds of feeling completely overwhelmed, Alyssa discovered a search box at the top right hand corner of the website.  She tried to remember what the name of the video was. She typed in "scorned wife gets
revenge" and it came up right away. It had a lot of hits too and a five star rating.
Figures, she is perfect looking.
Alyssa thought as she hovered her finger over the enter button. She debated whether or not she really wanted to watch the video. On one hand she was practically frothing at the mouth with insatiable curiosity. On the other hand she was crazy jealous of this woman. Alyssa didn't know if she really wanted to see her having sex.
Would Jack's ex look so perfect when her naked body was exposed for all to see? What if she looked even better, all sprawled out and sporting an expression of pure ecstasy on her face? Could Alyssa handle it?
Finally she put her negative thoughts to the back of her mind and she worked up the nerve to click the button.

The video came up and there was Jade, in all her magnificent glory.
Those can't be her real breasts, there's no way.
Alyssa thought bitterly and yes, Jade looked even better naked, with her perfect body on display for the whole world to see and potentially get off on. You could tell that she spent a great deal of time in the gym, working to keep it that way. Jade did not have an expressing of pleasure on her face though. It looked far more malicious and evil, even though she was clearly trying to be sexy throughout the whole thing. Alyssa could tell that she was just trying to get under Jack's skin with this stupid video. Irritated, Alyssa shut off the amateur porn. Then she sat back in her chair brooding over it. She felt really devastated that Jack's ex-wife was so pretty. She seriously looked like a model and even though Alyssa was gorgeous too, she didn't have the Heidi Klum thing going on that Jade had.

Alyssa tried to tell herself that she needed to stop lusting after Jack. She knew she was starting to fall for him and that was only going to lead to heartache. Still
when she drifted off to sleep that night, his face immediately entered her dreams. In her sleep she saw him looming over her, looking at her with lust filled eyes and caressing her body longingly. Before long Alyssa was having the classic wet dream. When she awoke she remembered it clearly and she was angry with herself.
Ugh, why can't I get him out of my head!
She scorned herself bitterly. Then she tried to tell herself that it was time that she tried to meet someone else. Maybe if she had a boyfriend, or at least got laid every now and again she wouldn't obsess over a man that was basically unattainable.

With that thought, Alyssa got out of bed and went over to her computer. Reluctantly, she signed up for one of those internet dating sites. She knew she needed to be wary of men that she met online, but she also
knew that with her crazy work schedule and limited social life, this was her best chance to find someone new. He didn't have to be perfect, just someone to help her to forget any ideas of being with Jack. So she completed her profile and uploaded one of her better pictures, then she clicked submit. The waiting game had begun.
