I let Davis and Remington in
,

Cooper
informed me
as I walked back into the dining/living room.

Hope you don

t mind.

No problem, hey
,
guys
.

I smil
ed
at both of them.

Sorry to interrupt your Saturday nights
.
H
ope you weren

t doing anything too special.

Nope
.

Davis snickered holding up the
brown paper bag full of
food
.

A
nd I was hungry anyways.

I

ve got cash for my order
.

I lead the way into the kitchen and pulling out some plates.

There

s pop and beer in the fridge, help yourselves.

What do you want, Chief?

Cooper asked as he grabbed a beer.

I

m a rum and coke girl
.

I chuckled, a little nervous to show this much of my personal life to my team.

I

ll make you one
.

Cooper grabbed a glass from the cabinet
by the refrigerator
.

Thanks, Cooper,

I replied
,
getting silverware and paper towels out and putting them on the kitchen table.

Is it cool if we just pile on our plates here and go sit at the dining room table?

Let

s just bring it all in there,

Davis said
,
picking back up the
bag containing the
Chinese.

Might be easier since I didn

t start unpacking yet.

That works
,
too
.

I shrugg
ed
.
Just then the doorbell rang again,

You guys go ahead
.
I

m going to get that.

I jogged over to the door and pulled it open to see Harris

s
smiling face and Jennings standing behind him.

We brought beer
,
too,

Harris said walking in.

Is Davis here with the Chinese?

Yeah, we

re in the dining room,

I answered
,
pointing the way while I closed and locked the door behind them.

There

s drinks in the fridge, have at them.

Thanks, Chief
.

Jennings walked in the direction I pointed. Only then did I notice that he was carrying what looked like two larger
laptop cases.

I shrugged my shoulders and headed into the dining room.
It was strange seeing the
table in my dining room being occupied by my team when the room was normally empty.
Everyone seemed settled as I made myself a plate and took my drink from Cooper. I took a sip and almost spit it back out.

Jesus, Cooper,

I said
coughing
.
Is
there any coke with this rum?

Too strong for you, Chief?

h
e asked
,
snickering.

No, I normally work
up
to this level
.

I chuckled shooting him a look.

Plus
,
I prefer to be sober and not passed out on the floor when working.

Getting you drunk might be the only way we find anything out about you
.

Remington
countered
in between bites.

Well, you

re already seeing my apartment.

I
glanced
around
at them
.

But yeah, you

re going to find out a lot about me tonight. And not because of the booze.

Oh really.

Harris smirk
ed
, broadcasting images of me stripping in fro
nt
of them.

Harris!

I yelped after seeing them
.

C
ome on, I

m trying to eat here!

Sorry, Chief
.

He
look
ed
down as he blushed.

See, like that
,

Remington
whined
, clearly complaining.

What was that about?

Fine, I

ll tell you
.

I
took
another bite of my garlic beef
, moaning at how good it was and the fact that I was ravenous
.

But it has to stay between the six of us. I hope by now I

ve shown I have your backs. I need to know you have mine
,
too, agreed?

The
y
all nodded their heads eagerly with mouthfuls of food, like I was revealing the location to Atlantis.

I

m also a clairvoyant.

I
told them
before taking a swig of my drink.

I can

t read objects
, only images from people. Normally only when I touch them, but
,
some people, like Harris
,
are loud projectors.

What was he thinking?

Davis asked in between bites.

Nothing that should be repeated,

I answered
,
rolling my eyes. Everyone but Harris started to chuckle, mainly at how red his face was.

Okay, let

s get down to business.

I spent the next half hour filling them in on what happened tonight as we stuffed our faces with food. Except for the occasional question, my team was pretty silent while I relayed my evening.
When I was finally done
,
I looked around at the shocked faces. Honestly, I couldn

t blame them
.
I
t was pretty much exactly how I felt.

Well that fucking sucks,

Cooper finally said
,
breaking the silence.

You were in between a rock and hard place if I

ve ever heard it.

Yeah, it would have been nice
if another shifter had warned me
,

I
teased
,
finishing off my egg
roll
and wiping my hands on a paper towel
. I had done most of the talking, and my food was starting to get cold.

Hey, I had no idea the wolves were this nuts,

Harris replied
,
holding his hands out in front of him.

Besides, cheetahs are more
solitary creatures. Plus there aren

t anywhere near as many of us as there are wolves.

I know, Harris
,

I snickered
.
H
e was all but squirming in his seat.

I was just playing with you. I figured from the look on your face you had no clue this could happen.

So what do we do now?

Davis asked
.

I
t

s not like we can let this keep happening.

Well
,
for one, we need to make some calls to other packs,

I answered after I finished off my drink. It was sad that I had a buzz after one drink, but I didn

t ever make them this strong.
And while my metabolism was faster, my alcohol tolerance didn

t seem to
have gotten
any
higher
.

I want to know how other packs run. Don

t tell them why you

re calling
.
W
e don

t want them defensive. Tell them it

s for a study or something.

We also need to talk to some of these women in the pack
,

Cooper
concluded
.

I thought of that,

I replied.

That

s wh
y
I invited Riley over. Let

s keep the questioning civil though
.
R
emember he

s fighting the same thing we are.

As if on cue, the doorbell rang. For a moment, we all sat there and stared at each other before I got up and went for the door. I checked the peep hole to see Riley then unlocked the door and let him in.

Come in,

I said in that weird voice again as power crawled all over me.

I was instantly aware of how close he was to me as he started to pass me to come inside.
His arm brushed mine lightly.
Instead of passing me, he turned and
pushed me against the
wall
and mashed his lips onto mine. After a moment of staring at him in surprise, I melted into the kiss. I felt power creep over my skin and onto his and back.
Oh no! My inner evil bitch was coming out. I know some women say that for fun, but it seemed as if I really had one.

His tongue slid into
the space
between my lips and I opened my mouth to let him in. Moaning as the kiss deepened
, I wrapped my arms around his neck as his slid all along my back.

It wasn

t until one of his hands slid around front and up to cup my breast that I finally snapped out of it and pushed him away. We stared at each other, both of us breathing heavily.

What was that, Riley?

I asked.
I had seen inside his head at the contact, knowing how to hurt him worst in the world… And what he wanted most. Fucked up much?

Honestly, I

m not really sure,

he answered
,
rubbing his hand over his face.

I didn

t plan on it until I was close to you
.
T
hen it was like I needed to kiss you more than I needed air.
I wanted to offer myself on a platter to you.

He sounded just as confused as I felt.
