I look around the room and Heather and I are alone. Jackson, Chase and my mother have all left the room and it’s just us girls holding each other’s babies. I know a serious conversation is about to break out and I’m thankful when the doctor comes in. “You ready to go home Ally?”
I nod, because I really am. I hate hospitals and I’m ready to get back in my own bed. Everyone comes back in and Heather hands Izzy to Jackson and I hand Lucas back to Chase. I grab a bag as does mom and Heather. An orderly comes in with a cart for all the flowers and balloons. Another enters with a wheel chair. “Oh no, I can walk,” I tell him, as I shook him away.
“Sorry ma’am, hospital rules.”
“Rules schmules, I can walk.”
“Alexandra, sit.” Jackson grumbles behind me. Grumpy much?
“Fine.” I sit down. My mother places Isabella in my lap and everyone grabs a bag. Chase pushes the cart while Heather has Lucas in a sling across her front. We all look so domestic.
Just a couple of years ago, Heather and I were single and living the life. Now, we’re both married with new babies. Funny how life catches up wit
h you and comes full circle but as I look at my husband’s eyes, full of love and adoration for me and our daughter, I realize that this is my destiny.
