Chapter 16
“You set me up bitch!” I held the gun against Brielle’s head. “I should’ve known not to trust you.”
We were in her office as usual, but it wasn’t a merry meeting. She was the only person I’d confided in about Cuba. Not only that, but she was the one who had put me on to Caramel. Maybe she was also the one who had told Cuba where I lived. What if she was in on the plan for him to kill me? Did she still have ill feelings toward me? Being that he didn’t succeed, maybe plan B was to make sure that I got locked up for life.
What if her whole agenda was to bring me down? That bitch was just pretending to my friend. I didn’t need her, nor did I want to keep dealing with her business wise. As far as my business was concerned, I planned to run that shit no matter where I was.
“Sash, why the fuck would I set you up? It ain’t no beef between us no more. Think about it. I don’t want Kamal or no shit like that, so what do you think I’m holdin’ a grudge for? I fuck wit’ bitches, I been gave up on niggas. Not only that, but we make too much money together. Really think about it. It gotta be somebody else who wants to see you locked up or dead and it ain’t me.” Her eyes were sincere as she stared at me.
Lowering the gun, I didn’t know what to think. Who else would want to ruin me? Who else would know that I killed Cuba? I hadn’t told anybody else. I paced the floor as I thought about it.
“Serenity,” me and Brielle said at the same time.
“Hell yeah, she’s the only one who had something to lose,” I added.
She’d complained about losing clients and I knew that she wasn’t making the money that Caramel was.
“I’m tellin’ you, I wouldn’t do no shit like that. You my bitch Sash.”
We shook on it as I put my gun away. “Okay. I’m gon’ need you to handle business. Shit’s too hot and I’m gettin’ outta here.”
“You got my word. I gotcha.”
I hugged Brielle and then got out of there. My next stop was to see Serenity of course.
* * *
Serenity opened the door and looked at me. She appeared to be high off something and it damn sure wasn’t weed.
“What you doin’ here?” She asked and rolled her eyes.
“We need to talk,” I said brushing past her.
She closed the door and didn’t bother to tie up the robe that she had on. Her curvy frame peaked out at me, but I didn’t care about her tits and small waist at the moment.
“So, what the fuck do we have to talk about?”
I reached inside my purse and pulled out my .45. That bitch was a threat to me, my business and my freedom. She had to go. All I needed her to do was admit her desire to bring me down.
“I know you set me up.”
She sneered at me. “You hired that Caramel bitch and she cut in my funds. Yeah, I told him to kill you and when he didn’t get back to me, I knew that he was dead.”
“So, why didn’t you tell the cops about Sweet Nectar? They arrested me just off your word, with no damn motive. What the fuck did you tell them?”
“Fuck it bitch. You gon’ kill me or not? Shit. I didn’t think you’d get bail. I damn sure didn’t think you’d end up here wit’ a gun in my face.”
I laughed wickedly. “I bet. You took my kindness for weakness bitch. Was it worth it?” Cocking the gun, I suddenly felt like killing would be easier the second time around. “You were makin’ good ass money Serenity.”
“Fuck that! I can’t stand that bitch. Never could.”
“Ohhh, so you already knew Caramel?” That was interesting.
Serenity nodded. “Knew her. Hmm, she’s my fuckin’ sister.”
Her sister? Now that really shocked me. “We got the same father and he left us…for them. She was always his favorite and when I found out that you hired her, I had to tell Cuba. I wanted him to kill her, not you. Then when I realized that shit didn’t work out that way, I wanted you gone. Prison was the next best thing. You meant it when you said that you would protect your girls. Shit! I couldn’t kill you myself and I couldn’t get to Caramel.” Tears filled her eyes and then dripped down her cheeks.
“But I can kill you,” I reminded her.
Pop! Pop! Pop!
Blood poured from her head. That vindictive bitch had fucked up. Why couldn’t she have just taken advantage of a good situation? Being jealous of her sister had been the death of her. Shit, I had to get the hell up out of there. Seeing my father and my aunt was a must. Seeing Serg was even more pressing. I missed my man so much.
* * *
After seeing my pops and Aunt Mo, I packed up my things and was in the back of a taxi with Serg on the way to the airport.
“How the fuck are we supposed to pull this off?” I asked him.
What if they arrested us before we could even board the plane? We hadn’t really discussed my escape route.
“Don’t worry ma. I got this. Shit, I know that you didn’t want revenge, but I did.”
“What?” I knew what he meant, but I needed him to clarify.
“When you were…locked up…I was gettin’ rid of a…couple problems.”
What the hell was he saying?
“What did you do Serg?”
He showed me a picture on his phone of Kamal and Jordan both with a gunshot wound to the head. After that he deleted the pictures.
“I did that for you. For us.”
After swallowing hard, I realized that I would never be able to confront them both myself. Serg had already made sure of that.
“I don’t know how I feel about that.”
He grabbed my hand. “Honestly babe, I’on even care how you feel about it. I did what I needed to do for us. I found out that Kamal was plottin’ to kill us. Jordan was in on it. She only reached out to Travis to get information. Their bodies will never be found.”
I nodded. “Okay.” That shit made me feel uneasy. Damn.
As long as Kamal and Jordan were alive, I really wasn’t able to rest easy. However, I wanted to be in on their murders, although I had told him that I didn’t want revenge.
“Where are we going?” My nerves were bad.
Even though anywhere in the world would be better than a prison cell, I didn’t know about living in some foreign country. Then again, I didn’t know how I felt about knowing that Kamal and Jordan were plotting on us That shit was fucked up.
“Just know that you don’t have to worry. I took care of everything.”
“Do you really wanna do this Serg? I mean, you’re leavin’ your family and the business and…”
He kissed me and stopped my rambling. “Neither one of us are leavin’ anything. We’re just expanding.”
He was right. Brielle was running shit from Atlanta, but I was still reaping the financial benefits. The game plan was to extend Sweet Nectar Entertainment not only to other states, but internationally. The monetary prospects were endless.
“What about our wedding?” I asked looking at my ring.
“It’s still gon’ happen. We’ll just fly our family out.”
I exhaled and tried to relax. My mind just kept playing every possible bad scenario. I kept thinking we were going to get stopped by the cops in a roadblock or we’d be intercepted at the airport. All I could do was hope I’d get out of the US and avoid imprisonment.
Glancing over at Serg, I realized just how much he’d risked for me. He’d gone all the way to Austin, Texas to avenge the assassination of my heart.
“I fuckin’ love you,” I told him.
He held on to me for dear life. “And I love you more.”
* * *
“Kamal and Jordan Montgomery, here’re your boarding passes,” the blonde chick behind the counter said with a huge smile.
Serg had given me the passport with my picture and Jordan’s name at the last minute. I had no clue that I’d taken over the life of Jordan and he’d taken over the life of Kamal. Hopefully he’d done better at disposing of their bodies than he did with Cuba’s. We were on the way to the Cape Verde Islands. Serg had filled me in on the fact that there was no extradition treaty with the US. Therefore, as long as I stayed away, I didn’t have to worry about going to prison.
* * *
six months later
“Good morning gorgeous,” I heard Serg’s voice behind me as I sat in the veranda of the Spanish style villa that we owned.
The Cape Verdes Islands was a small, but very beautiful country that I’d grown to love. I’d even recruited a few girls who were making really good money in the US. I’d sent them over and Brielle was very accommodating. We were working very well together.
Although we weren’t legally married, Serg and I had a ceremony right there in our back yard on the beach. We’d flown our closest family members there and had an amazing time. For once, I was extremely happy.
“Good morning handsome.” I stood up and he rubbed my protruding belly.
At five months pregnant I was expecting a little girl. I’d just found out the sex a few days before and was happy to know that I was going to have my own family. Everything had come around full circle.
We walked inside hand in hand and what was on the television caught my attention. CNN was on and a picture of my mug shot flashed across the screen.
“Sasha Montgomery is a fugitive at large who was charged with the murder of a known pimp, Marco “Cuba” Alvarez. Authorities are concerned that she may have left the United States…”
Serg turned the channel and I glanced over at me.
“They’ll never find you. Don’t worry. You know I got you.”
Well, at least they didn’t know about my escort service. That was a good thing, so I looked on the bright side.
I walked over to him and he enveloped me in his arms. “I know.”
“Now, let me feed my Queen and my Princess.”
I managed to smile. “Yes, because we’re starving.”
As I followed him into the kitchen, there was a pang of home sickness that came over me. As beautiful as our home was, I missed the States. However, as I thought about Serg and our baby, I knew that it was best for me to stay put. Going back home wouldn’t be worth it, so I never brought it up.
“I love you,” Serg whispered seductively. “After breakfast can you get naked and put those Gator skin pumps on?”
With a sly grin on my face, I nodded. “Anything for you.”
My life was finally complete and I knew that I’d finally come out on top. I may have been one of the most wanted women in the world, but I wasn’t worried about getting caught. Shit, I was a pimp in pumps.
The End!
