Memphis let me know that he was at her door.

“He’s at the door now Caramel. If you feel the need to move you know we’ll help you. You’re good now. Memph will take you where you’ll be safe. Okay.”

              “Okay,” she sniffed.

We did have a safe house in Marietta, Ga for the girls if they were every in a volatile situation. For the time being she wouldn’t be able to work. We had to make sure that she was safe, which was part of the deal when it came to my girls. I ran a real business, not just an escort service. If my girls got hurt or killed, that shit made me look bad. So far all of my girls had managed to stay alive and keep making money in a very dangerous line of work. I took great pride in that.

“Will I be able to work?” Her voice sounded desperate.

“No, not until Cuba’s not a threat to you anymore.”

“Oh my God. This is crazy! Memphis is here now and I’m going to get my things together. Thank you Fiona.”

“No problem. Call me when you get to the safe house. Okay.”

“Okay,” she agreed and then hung up.

After that I called Serg, but he didn’t answer the phone. I really needed to talk to him about what was going on with Caramel and Cuba. I needed him to handle that motherfucka, because he was obviously still a threat to her. When I grabbed my purse, I made sure that my .45 was inside before I walked to the door.

Before I could even step outside a shadow popped up in my peripheral and then I felt a crushing blow to my face. I blacked out immediately and when I came to a man was standing over me. My common sense told me who he was.

“Cuba?” I asked trying to throw him off as my blurry vision seemed to clear.

So, he’d told Caramel that he was after her, but he was really coming after me. Did Caramel know that she was being used as a diversion, or was she just a pawn. Something told me that she didn’t know anything. I looked around for my purse and it was right there beside me on the floor.

When I looked behind him I saw that he’d closed the door. How did he know where I lived and how did he get on my property? There was a sixteen-foot iron gate surrounding it. Did his crazy ass jump that shit? He must’ve been a hell of an athlete. The thought was mind boggling. Or did I leave it unlocked? Shit!

“Yeah bitch. You already know who I am. You thought I was gon’ just let you steal my bitch? Huh?” He back slapped me and I could feel the hot tears falling from my eyes. “You think your boyfriend or your daddy scare me? Huh?”

He raised his hand to slap me again, but I grabbed his arm. “Don’t do this.”

I saw the gun that he had pointed in my face and the evil look that he was wearing. Being minutes away from death reminded me of just how dangerous my lifestyle was. That shit was getting real. It wasn’t just about the money. Damn, if only Serg would bust through the door and put a bullet in his head.

When Cuba cocked the gun, I kicked him in the groin and he doubled over. That’s when I kicked him in the head and he crashed into the wall. A picture fell and shards of glass hit the floor. I quickly scrambled to my feet and grabbed a large, sharp piece of the glass. The gun that he had had slid across the hard wood floor to the other side of the room.

I couldn’t risk trying to get to it, so for the moment I had to grab the weapon that was closest to me. He groaned and tried to stand up, but I stabbed him in the eye with the glass before he could. As he tried to pull the glass out, I grabbed my purse and pulled out the gun.

“Shit…” he gasped, looking at me with one eye as the other gushed blood. “Bitch...”

“Fuck you!” I screamed and pulled the trigger.

              Pow! Pow! Pow!

After throwing the gun back in my purse, I stepped over his bloody body. He was still moaning and making a gurgling noise. Two of the bullets hit him in the chest, so I was sure that his lungs were filled with blood. I managed to make it to the door and as I opened it I ran right into Serg.

“Whose car is that?” He asked, but stopped talking when he saw the frantic look and blood on my face. “What the fuck happened to you?”

“He…Cuba…” I pointed toward the house as I tried to catch my breath to tell him what had happened.

“Cuba?” He stepped pass me and when he saw his dead body on the floor he stood still.

Then he went over to make sure that he was dead. He looked at me and nodded after checking his pulse.

He walked back out and closed the door.

“He’s dead. Let me get you out of here and then I’ll come back and handle him.”

I nodded without saying another word. Damn, he was a second too late to kill Cuba, but at least he could take it from there. All I knew was I felt stuck. I’d seen people die, but I’d never killed somebody myself.

On the way to his crib, I told Serg everything about Caramel’s phone call.

“Memp had texted me and then I had missed your call. When I called you back and you didn’t answer, I just knew shit wasn’t right. That mufucka. I told you bae. Didn’t I? You so hard headed though. You just won’t fuckin’ listen to me.”

Was he talking about the situation with Cuba or the situation with Kamal? I really did not want to go into that at the moment. Shit, my head was all fucked up.

“You were right about Cuba okay. I wasn’t prepared for him. He threw me off, but thankfully I made it out alive and he didn’t.”

Serg let out a deep sigh. “I’on know what I would’ve done if that was you and not him. I’d kill everything moving. Despite what you may think ma, I love the shit out of you. I have always told you the truth and I’m gon’ prove it.”

“Let’s not do this right now Serg. Please.”

He nodded and looked straight ahead. “All I give a damn about right now is keepin’ you safe and out of prison. Cuba got some niggas who gon’ be gunnin’ for his murderer, so keep your mouth shut.”

“Nigga, who I’m gon’ tell, Shit, I ain’t got no friends.”

Serg didn’t say anything about that. Instead he pulled out his cell phone and made a call.

“Yeah my nigga. I need you to meet me at the crib. I’ll explain everything when you get there.”

My phone beeped notifying me that I had a text. It was Caramel letting me know that she was at the safe house. I decided to not let her know anything about Cuba right now. Like Serg said, I needed to keep my mouth shut.

Chapter 15

“Damn, that’s some shit right there yo’,” Brielle said as she poured me another shot of Patron.

“Why you got Patron in your office if you don’t drink no more?” I asked her out of curiosity.

I’d just filled her in on what had happened with Cuba. She was the only person that I was close to other than Serg and I had to get it off my chest.

With a chuckle, she said, “I love the bitches and the bitches love Patron.”

I laughed and shook my head at her. “Reign told me ya’ll had a lil’ thing.”

“Shit, that bitch is in love wit’ me. I can’t deal wit’ her like that. Way too high maintenance. She bad as fuck though. I gotta admit that.”

“Yeah, she is. Had me questioning my sexuality.” We both laughed and gave each other pound.

“So, what now?” Brielle asked with a serious look etched on face.

I shrugged my shoulders. “Serg cleaned everything up and now it’s over. I just hope nobody finds out about what happened.”

“You know I ain’t tellin’ nobody shit.” She lit up a blunt and took a few pulls.

Good, because she knew people that Cuba dealt with, since they frequented the Suite Lounge. We had gone straight to her office to avoid the crowd.

“Uh, doesn’t that go against your twelve step program?” That Kush smelled good as hell.

“I just smoke occasionally. Figured you’d need it. I keep the herb for the hoes too,” she said passing the blunt to me.

I died laughing and then took a deep pull. It was ironic how Brielle had ended up becoming a close friend of mine and Jordan was now an enemy. Sometimes in life, things would go as far left as possible. Who would’ve ever thought that Jordan would backstab me and Brielle would be there to help heal my wounds.

“Serg, oh my God. This is beautiful,” I gasped when I walked in his crib.

I’d been staying with him ever since the shit had gone down with Cuba. Although they had got rid of the body, cleaned the hell out of my crib and replaced the carpet; the memory was just too fresh.

There were rose petals leading from the front door to the bedroom. On the king sized bed were chocolate kisses arranged in the shape of a huge heart. There were more rose petals leading to the master bath’s round, garden tub. He had run a bubble bath with candles all around the tub and the lights were dimmed. The low sound of an Usher song played in the background.

              “
You’re
beautiful.” He stared into my eyes lovingy. “So beautiful.”

He caressed my face and then pulled me close to him. “I love you Sasha.”

“And I love you too Serg. I’m sorry that I ever doubted your love and sincerity. You’ve always been there for me and I appreciate that.”

“So, we good?” His eyes were hopeful as they searched my soul.

“Yeah babe. We’re good.” We kissed and then he smiled at me all cocky like.

“I knew I was gon’ get my baby back. Relax in the bubble bath. I gotta go out to the car and get something real quick. I’ll be back.”

We kissed again and I felt the love between us brewing. There was no way that Kamal was telling the truth about Serg. Maybe out of his desperation he’d altered what really took place, but I had no real reason not to trust Serg. I had every damn reason not to trust Kamal though.

When he came back I was sitting in the tub puffing on the blunt that he’d put in the ashtray. He even had a bottle of Ace and some champagne glasses in place. I was a little bit tipsy after all of the drinks and blunts with Brielle, but I didn’t mind taking a drink with my man. I watched him undress.

As he lowered his body down into the tub, I was taken over by an uncontrollable feeling of lust. We were finally on a different page. I knew that he was the one for me and all the forces against us would not win.

“So, what did you get from the car?”

“It’s in the other room ma.”

I smiled knowing that it was probably something for me. He undressed, got in and washed my body down tenderly. When we stepped out of the bath I felt like a new woman. No matter what, I knew that Serg would be there. He had my back one hundred percent and that meant the world to me.

Once we got out of the tub, he dried me off and led me into the bedroom. There were bags all over the bed and I really didn’t expect that. He had been bombarding me with gifts ever since he thought I was done with him.

              “Baby, you didn’t have to…”

“I do what I do because I want to and I want to because I really do love you. No matter what, I’ll always hold you down ma.”

I was speechless when he said that. When I sat down on the bed he sat beside me “I just want you to know that I am so gone over you. I ain’t never been in love wit’ a woman like this. You’re my world and I’ll kill myself tryna prove that shit to you. Just try to trust me.”
