I
wrapped my arms around his broad muscular shoulders and stared into his hazel
eyes. He gently pushed me onto the bed, kneeling before me and removing my
shoes.  After kissing the top of each foot he quickly mounted me.

“Jake
wait, we shouldn’t.”

“Why,
what’s stopping you, Allan? You belong with me not him! He doesn’t deserve
you.” Things got a little tense between us after I turned him down.

“I
think I should go.”

Forcefully
pushing me back on the bed he yelled, “Where do you think you’re going? I
thought you felt the same the way as I did? That kiss we shared in the park is
all I think about all day and night.”

“Jake
let me go, you’re scaring me.”

“Fine
leave, I won’t stop you.”

I
grabbed my things and rushed out the motel door as fast as I could. I flew down
the flight of stairs, quickly finding my keys to unlock my car door. I couldn’t
believe that I was dumb enough to fall for that. I thought he was a hopeless
romantic, but that man was insane.

The
drive back to Waltham felt like an endless journey.  My vision was blurred
and I could barely focus on the road, with my eyes swollen full of tears. I had
hoped Lacey wasn’t awake when I got home because I didn’t want her to see me
like this.

I
arrived home and have never been so happy to see this complex in my life. I
opened the front door to my apartment and it was very dark inside. Using my
phone as a mini flashlight, I walked into my room, tossed on a pair of pajamas
and attempted to sleep off this nightmare.

The
guilt and anguish quickly set in, preventing me from staying asleep. I knew
that I needed to confess to Allan about everything, so I picked up my phone,
but before I could punch in the unlock
code,
I
received a message from him.

Lover
: Alecia, we need to talk.

Me
: I was just thinking about you,
what do you want to talk about?

Lover
: You hanging with Jake and
sucking him off at The Reds.

That
lying bastard! The first thing that came to mind was to call Jake, but it went
straight to his voicemail.

“Fuck
you Jake. I can’t believe you’d lie like that.”

I
received a call right back and before he even spoke I started yelling at him.

“Jake,
you’re such an ass!”

“Don’t
be mad at me, I can explain.”

“Explain
what? That you’re a jerk?”

“I
told Al those things because I don’t like to be rejected. I want you all to
myself and I’d do anything to make that happen, including ruining your
relationship with my brother.”

“Jake
you’re very twisted and
demented,
I can’t talk to you
anymore. Lose my number.” I hung up the phone before he had a chance to respond
and called Allan to come clean about everything that really happened between me
and Jake.

“Yes?”

“Can
I come by? I really need to tell you something.”

“I
guess.”

My
heart felt so heavy on the drive over. I couldn’t believe I almost ruined what
I had with Allan, over a picnic and a few sweet gestures. I pulled into my
usual spot and Allan was already outside waiting for me at the top of the
steps.

He
waved me over to the side door and I froze. I felt like I was permanently
chained to my driver’s seat and couldn’t get up. Taking a deep breath, I
finally found the courage to get out my car and meet him by the door.

Blurting
out, “Listen, everything that your brother said was not entirely true.”

Placing
his fingers over my mouth to quiet me he says, “Don’t say another word, and
just come inside. I know that Jake is a compulsive liar. He’s extremely jealous
of what we have and knows he’ll never have someone as special as you.”

Allan
stopped at his room door and I continued to walk to the kitchen.

“I’ll
be right back, I really need a drink. Would you like one?”

“No
thanks, just hurry up.”

After
reaching the kitchen, I snag a bottle of water out of the fridge. I heard
footsteps creaking down the hall and assumed it was Allan.

“Change
your mind so soon?” I said while turning around to greet Al, but Jake entered
the room instead.

“Jake,
you’re such a manipulative asshole! You know I didn’t suck your dick!” I said,
while launching the cold bottle of water at his chest.

“I
know but we kissed and would have done more if you didn’t run away.”

“Shut
up! You need to tell him the truth.”

“Tell
me the truth about what?” Allan demanded as he stood in the doorway with a
puzzled look on his face.

Tears
abruptly streamed down my cheeks and I swallowed hard trying to find the right
words to say to him.

Th
-that
night after I saw you with Stacey at the party, I went outside and sat in the
car. Jake must have seen me and followed me out. I was a complete mess and
didn’t know what to do so we went to the park down the street. We were on the
swings and next thing I know we were kissing.”

“This
is a fucking joke right?
Right?”

I
shook my head in embarrassment. “No, it’s not a joke.” I tried to reach for his
hand, but he snatched it away from me.

“I
suggest you don’t touch me, Ice.” His nostrils flared, and he rolled up his
sleeves, glaring at his brother.

“Well,
I hate to interrupt your lovers’ quarrel. But bro I was pretty close to fucking
your girl last night.”

Allan’s
hand clenched up into a tight ball and he punched his brother square in the
face. I stood there completely still, watching as blood came pouring out of
Jake’s nose. Jake tried to swing back but completely missed. Allan grabbed him
by his collar and slammed his head against Jake’s face. “You really
wanna
fuck with me right now?”

“Fuck
you Al.
And your whore.
This isn’t over Alecia, not by
a long shot,” he yelled storming off, covering his nose with his blood stained
sleeve.

Why
would he say that to me?
He’s the one that stuck his own foot in his mouth.

“Al,
are you alright? I’ve never seen you get that angry before.”

“I’m
fine, he deserved that, and much more.”

“Do
you want me to leave?”

“Do
what you want.”

“Okay,
well at least let me clean those up for you.” I grabbed a paper towel off the
roll, some ice from the freezer, and a small sandwich bag to clean and soothe
Al’s bruised knuckles that were completely covered in Jake’s DNA.

Chapter 5
:
The
Obsession

I
decided to stay, but I was up all night worrying about Allan, wondering if Jake
would come back and finish what was started. Day break set, and as I looked out
the window to admire the sun rise, I noticed something was wrong with my tire.

“Allan,
my tire is completely flat!” I ran outside and he soon followed.

“Someone
slashed it,” he said while placing his finger in the hole.

“I
bet Jake did this.”

“Do
you have a spare?”

“It’s
in the trunk, but I don’t have any tools to change it with.”

“You’re
a girl; I didn’t actually expect you too. I’ll go upstairs and grab mine.” I
watched as he went inside to retrieve his tools and something caught my eye.

Pinned
between the windshield and the wiper blades, was a small folded piece of paper.
Inside read “This is just the beginning.”

What
the hell? I stuffed the note in my pocket so Al wouldn’t see it. Carrying a
huge green Craftsman tool kit and a small scissor jack he lifted my car off the
ground and changed the tire.

“Good
as knew.”

“Thank
you for fixing it, but I should run now.”

I
kept the note a secret from him. After last night, I didn’t want to add more
fuel to his fire.

“Come
inside with me, I’ll cook you breakfast.”

“You
sure you want me too? I feel like I’ve betrayed you.”

“You
didn’t ‘betray’ me. If you remember correctly I did kiss someone too.”

“Alright,
I’ll be there in a bit.” I took a quick sweep around my car to make sure there
wasn’t any other damage done to it, and removed the note from my pocket,
ripping it to shreds and dumping the evidence down the sewer drain. I walked
back inside and heard something sizzling on the stove.

“Something
smells delicious. What is that?”

“Waffles
and sausage.”

“I
was outside ten minutes and you made all of this?”

Taking
a can of whip cream, he sprayed a little on my neck and gently licked it off.

“Yea
it doesn’t take long to thaw out frozen waffles and sausage.”

“So
is this how you keep all the ladies coming back? By fixing their cars and
cooking them breakfast?”

“Don’t
worry about the ‘other’ ladies; this is what I do to keep you. So sit down and
eat!”

After
breakfast, we made our way back to his room and lay down on the bed. His phone
rang as soon as we got comfortable.

“It’s
my boss. Unfortunately I’ve got to take this.” I could see the smile
immediately leave his face as he hung up.

“What’s
wrong?”

“He
needs me to meet him at a new construction site in Worcester and work for a few
hours.”

“That’s
fine, I’ll just go home.”

“No
stay! I won’t be gone long. Just make yourself at home.”

“I
suppose I could stay, but you’d better hurry back!”

Placing
a soft, sensual kiss on my forehead, he leaned over and whispered, “You will
get hurt tonight, so be ready. You have a debt to repay Ms. Moore.”

“I’ll
be more than ready.”

“And
try not to fuck my brother while I’m gone!” he joked.

“I
won’t.”

He
grabbed his black work bag and quickly disappeared through the door. I hated
being alone in his bed without him so I rolled over and cuddled up with his
blanket. The smell of his aftershave was all over it and the scent was
intoxicating.

The
door slowly creaked open behind me. I flipped around to see who was coming in,
but no one was there. I walked over and slammed the door shut and made sure it
was locked. I hated being alone in Al’s house but I decided to take a nap to
pass the time.

Several
hours passed and Allan still wasn’t back, I knew I had to make things up to him
and the only way I knew how was sex. I unlocked his door, peered down the hall
to make sure it was clear and ran across the hall, immediately locking the
bathroom door behind me.

I
turned the hot water up as hot as I could stand it and a cloud of steam quickly
filled the bathroom.
Shit!
I forgot about the smoke alarm and turned the
water back down. I couldn’t see a thing through the clear shower curtain, but I
couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was watching me. I pulled my shampoo
from the shower caddy and began to wash my hair. As it lathered, there was a
knock at the door.

“Al,
is that you?”

Whoever
was outside didn’t respond but I figured it was Al messing with me. I rinsed
the soap out of my hair and eyes as best I could and grabbed the two towels I
previously laid out. Wrapping one around my body and the other around my head
and walked over to the steam filled mirror.

While
wiping the condensation away with my hand, I revealed my lifeless reflection.
The deep dark circles under my eyes and the horrible bags aged me quite a bit.
The lack of sleep and stress were doing a number on me, and the bloodshot
cornea’s didn’t help my appearance much either.

A
loud noise came from the drain and I nearly jumped out of my skin. The towel on
my head immediately fell and I picked it up off the floor and finished drying
my hair with it. I cautiously opened the bathroom door and clutched the towel
tightly against my body and continued to Allan’s room to get dressed.
