Mark 15:1-47

1
And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried
him
away, and delivered
him
to Pilate.

2
And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews?

And he answering said unto him,
Thou sayest
it.

3
And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
4
And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.
5
But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.

6
 Now at
that
feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.
7
 And there was
one
named Barabbas,
which lay
bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.
8
And the multitude crying aloud began to desire
him to do
as he had ever done unto them.
9
But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
10
For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.
11
But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.
12
And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do
unto him
whom ye call the King of the Jews?

13
And they cried out again, Crucify him.

14
Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done?

And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

15
 And
so
Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged
him,
to be crucified.

16
And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band.
17
And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his
head,
18
and began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
19
And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing
their
knees worshipped him.
20
And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

21
And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
22
And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.
23
And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received
it
not.
24
And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.

25
And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
26
And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
27
And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
28
And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.
29
And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest
it
in three days,
30
save thyself, and come down from the cross.

31
Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.
32
Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.

33
And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34
And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying,
Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?
which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

35
And some of them that stood by, when they heard
it,
said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
36
And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put
it
on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.

37
And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
38
And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
39
And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

40
 There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
41
(who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.

42
And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,
43
Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
44
And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling
unto him
the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
45
 And when he knew
it
of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
46
And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.
47
 And Mary Magdalene and Mary
the mother
of Joses beheld where he was laid.

Psalm 54:1-7

To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil,
A Psalm
of David, when the Ziphims came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us?

1
Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.

2
Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.

3
For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah.

4
 Behold, God
is
mine helper: the Lord
is
with them that uphold my soul.

5
He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth.

6
I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O L
ORD
; for
it is
good.

7
For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen
his desire
upon mine enemies.

Proverbs 11:5-6

5
The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

6
The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in
their own
naughtiness.

Numbers 16:41–18:32

41
But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the L
ORD
.
42
And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the L
ORD
appeared.
43
And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.

44
 And the L
ORD
spake unto Moses, saying,
45
Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.

46
And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the L
ORD
; the plague is begun.
47
And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people.
48
And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
49
Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah.
50
And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed.

17:
1
 And the L
ORD
spake unto Moses, saying,
2
Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of
their
fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man's name upon his rod.
3
And thou shalt write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod
shall be
for the head of the house of their fathers.
4
And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.
5
And it shall come to pass,
that
the man's rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.

6
And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers' houses,
even
twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron
was
among their rods.
7
And Moses laid up the rods before the L
ORD
in the tabernacle of witness.

8
And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
9
And Moses brought out all the rods from before the L
ORD
unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.

10
 And the L
ORD
said unto Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
11
 And Moses did
so
: as the L
ORD
commanded him, so did he.

12
And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.
13
Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the L
ORD
shall die: shall we be consumed with dying?

18:
1
 And the L
ORD
said unto Aaron, Thou and thy sons and thy father's house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
2
And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee
shall minister
before the tabernacle of witness.
3
And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die.
4
And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you.
5
And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.
6
And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you
they are
given
as
a gift for the L
ORD
, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
7
Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest's office for every thing of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest's office
unto you as
a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

8
 And the L
ORD
spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, by an ordinance for ever.
9
This shall be thine of the most holy things,
reserved
from the fire: every oblation of theirs, every meat offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs which they shall render unto me,
shall be
most holy for thee and for thy sons.
10
 In the most holy
place
shalt thou eat it; every male shall eat it: it shall be holy unto thee.

11
 And this
is
thine; the heave offering of their gift, with all the wave offerings of the children of Israel: I have given them unto thee, and to thy sons and to thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: every one that is clean in thy house shall eat of it.

12
All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the firstfruits of them which they shall offer unto the L
ORD
, them have I given thee.
13

And
whatsoever is first ripe in the land, which they shall bring unto the L
ORD
, shall be thine; every one that is clean in thine house shall eat
of
it.

14
Every thing devoted in Israel shall be thine.
15
Every thing that openeth the matrix in all flesh, which they bring unto the L
ORD
,
whether it be
of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the firstborn of man shalt thou surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou redeem.
16
And those that are to be redeemed from a month old shalt thou redeem, according to thine estimation, for the money of five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, which
is
twenty gerahs.
17
But the firstling of a cow, or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem; they
are
holy: thou shalt sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shalt burn their fat
for
an offering made by fire, for a sweet savour unto the L
ORD
.
18
And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave breast and as the right shoulder are thine.

19
All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto the L
ORD
, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it
is
a covenant of salt for ever before the L
ORD
unto thee and to thy seed with thee.

20
 And the L
ORD
spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I
am
thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.

21
And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve,
even
the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
22
Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.
23
But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity:
it shall be
a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.
24
But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer
as
an heave offering unto the L
ORD
, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

25
 And the L
ORD
spake unto Moses, saying,
26
Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the L
ORD
,
even
a tenth
part
of the tithe.
27
 And
this
your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, as though
it were
the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepress.
28
Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the L
ORD
of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the L
ORD
's heave offering to Aaron the priest.
29
Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the L
ORD
, of all the best thereof,
even
the hallowed part thereof out of it.
30
Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.
31
And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your households: for it
is
your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation.
32
And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.
