Dave

What in the hell is he doing in town? I thought he wasn’t supposed to be seen and here he is having a conversation in broad daylight in the middle of the park of all places. I hate to be one to eavesdrop but he has spiked my interest since he is somewhere he isn’t supposed to be. So I stay in my spot where I am sure that I can’t be seen.

He is speaking with a woman and the way their body language is with each other, I would say they are pretty comfortable with each other’s presence if you know what I mean. She is saying something about moving and that she can’t just up and leave. Huh that is interesting. Then I hear Dave reply to her and my blood boils.

“Baby you have to come with me. I love you. I can’t leave here knowing I am leaving you behind.” Dave takes the woman into a warm embrace. Her eyes are brimming with tears and then he kisses her deeply. What the ever loving fuck. He has a girlfriend and he is apparently asking, no wait begging her to go away with him. Then at the same time he is trying to get Courtney to leave town with him too? He hasn’t even been back around since mentioning it all to Courtney but here he is pleading with another woman to go away with him.

What does he think? He can just leave town and take the both of them with him like the other isn’t going to notice a tag a long? Is he planning on having them all live together in one house like one big happy family? Or keeping one of them on the side trying to hide it from the other.

Just then I see a small child toddling over to the both of them from the play area. Had I not just been looking at pictures this morning I would have never picked up on the resemblance. However, I had just seen those pictures this morning from when Jason was little and now seeing this little kid here I notice he looks just like the picture of Jason and his Dad when they were fishing on the beach. Jason looks just like his Dad. That can only mean that this little kid had to be Dave’s child. I would bet money on it. He looked to be about a year or so old. That would mean that this child had to have been conceived around the time Dave “died” or shortly after.

Son of a bitch.

My suspicions are confirmed when the toddler throws his arms up into the air and yells Daddy waiting for Dave to pick him up.

Fuck.

I have stayed quiet in the shadows for too long. I have to confront them. He has to know he can’t get away with this. Courtney has been tearing herself up about making this decision when all along Dave seems to have been hiding a pretty big ass secret. I walk out into the opening and make my presence known.

“Looks like you have some explaining to do
Dave
or whoever the hell you actually are.” I say in a commanding tone.

Dave’s head snaps towards mine and his eyes go wide. His face goes pale and his body goes slack. Yeah I caught you red handed asshole.

“Dexter it’s not what it looks like man.” He says handing the toddler off to his mother. The lady takes the little kid and they head off out of sight sensing this is going to turn into a heated discussion.

“Not what it looks like?” I shout. “I have been standing here listening to your conversation for the past ten minutes so don’t tell me it’s not what it looks like.” My fist are clinched at my sides. It is taking everything in me not to deck the shit out of this asshole.

“Man you can’t tell Courtney. This has to stay between us. She can’t know about this. She would never leave with me if she finds out.” Dave says and that’s the final straw.

My resolve snaps and my fist moves on its own accord.

I punch the shit out of that asshole. The force knocks him to the ground.

“It’s a good thing she has already chosen to stay with me you bastard.” I say towering over him.

Dave is stunned silent. I turn to walk away leaving him lying on the ground. How in the hell am I going to explain this to Courtney. It’s going to break her heart. Did he really think I wasn’t going to tell her this? I am sure this will just solidify her decision once she finds out.

I didn’t really want to be the one to have to tell her this though. What the hell am I going to do? Do I tell her and risk her getting angry with me for revealing this information? Or do I wait and see if Dave tells her himself?

Fucking hell.
